OPERATION AND SETUP SECTION

substances such as gasoline, kerosene or
thinners.
How the Game Works
A good aim means lots of tickets for players in
this game. The player must first aim a coin chute
towards one of the three desired bonus ‘icicles’.
Next the player drops a coin or token into a slot
that propels the coin out the chute toward the
target. If the coin misses the target slot but
instead falls into one of the ‘holes in the ice’
below the icicles, tickets are paid out according
to the indicated amount. If the coin goes in the
slot in the target ‘icicle’, bonus tickets are paid
out and the playfield incline slowly lowers to
expose even bigger bonus tickets icicles. But the
player must be quick because the playfield
incline immediately begins to raise again after it
reaches its lowest point. The complete playfield
lower/raise cycle is just 12 seconds with even
less time to hit the big bonus slots.
The ‘Tickets Owed’ display increases as they are
won and decrease as they are paid out. If the
ticket dispenser runs out of tickets, the payout
will continue after the dispenser is refilled.

Service Connections 7. The game is set up for standard factory
defaults. See the Programming section on page
6 for default values. Make any dipswitch setting
changes you need to make prior to operating
the game.
All Bay-Tek games are 110V or 220V(optional)
and draw 2-3 amps at startup. Outlets should
be rated for 20 amps or higher.
8. Fill the ticket dispenser.
IMPORTANT: Be sure that the electrical power
outlets match the game requirements. See
outlet labeling at rear bottom of game cabinet.
9. Play the game a few times to make sure
that everything is working. If something is not
working properly, review the troubleshooting
section first. If the problem cannot be resolved,
contact the Bay-tek service department at:
[email protected], or phone [phone].
Unpacking, Assembly and
Installation
10. Once everything is set and working
properly, use glass cleaner and a soft clean
cloth to clean all the glass on the game. Do not
use solvents to clean the game decal surfaces.
The game is now ready to play.
1. Inspect the game for any damaged, loose or
missing parts. If damage is found please
contact the carrier first. Then contact Bay-tek
at: [email protected], or phone (920) 822-
3951 to order replacement parts.
Note: The coin box lock is provided with a
different set of keys allowing operators to hand
out maintenance keys without compromising
security to the coin box.
CAUTION: Lifting Hazard.
Lifting heavy objects can cause
back, neck and other injuries.
Be sure adequate lifting and
moving devices are available
when unloading, unpacking and moving this
game.
Note: If ticket credits must be cleared, too
many coins are laying on the playfield incline or
if the owner wishes to display the payout
percentage, a ‘Jackpot Reset’ button is
provided inside the front door of the game to
clear those values and activate the kicker
solenoid to clear the incline of loose coins. See
Figure 2
2. Place the game near the final location and
remove the keys taped to the top glass.
3. Open the rear door panel and uncoil the
power cord and feed it through the hole in the
bottom board at the back of the cabinet. Plug
the power cord into the wall outlet.
4. Remove any tape securing game lighting or
other components.
5. Turn the power ON at the power strip inside
the rear door opening. Close and lock the rear
door panel.
6. Place the game in its final position. If
leveling is necessary, use adequate shims and
blocking to prevent tipping.

Alarm/Sounds
A voice chip enhance the visual effects of the
game during normal play and during ‘Attract”
mode of operation. A volume control is located
near the prize counter.

Counters
Counters are mounted inside the front cabinet
door next to the ticket dispenser. The counters
tracks the number of games played and tickets
dispensed. The counters cannot be reset.

The owner can easily set ticket value for each
target, playfield incline drop frequency, and
mercy tickets using the dipswitches on the main
circuit board. See default settings on the
following pages.
The main circuit board is located on the inside
center wall of the cabinet. Be sure power is off
before setting these dipswitches.

IMPORTANT: Power must be OFF to the game when setting dipswitches. Turn OFF the power strip
inside the cabinet. Set the dipswitches to the desired settings, wait 30 seconds and then turn ON power
at the power strip.

LUBRICATION & PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

Maintenance Chart
Use the following maintenance chart as a guide
only. Actual maintenance will depend on usage
and environmental conditions at the location of
the game.
Keep a log of all inspections, even if no problem
exists, with date and time of inspection, action
taken.
IMPORTANT: Do not use cleaning solvents on
game graphics. Use only a mild soap solution
and dry with a clean lint free cloth.
IMPORTANT: Do not use denatured alcohol,
lacquer thinner or similar solvents to clean the
conveyor belt as they will cause damage to the
belt surface.
IMPORTANT: The game should be shut OFF for
cleaning and maintenance.

Troubleshooting Strategy
Use common sense and a systematic method
of troubleshooting to determine the exact
problem, probable cause and remedy. Use the
process of elimination to find the faulty
component. Always check for the simple and
obvious causes first such as unplugged, loose
or broken wires and bad sensors, bent,
pinched, stuck or jammed components.

Error Codes
Error codes E1 through E13 indicate a faulty target sensor. The following figure illustrates the position
of the faulty board. See Service and Repair section on page 15 for replacement information.

Diagnose Power Supply
Use the following procedure to check the power
supply for Gen 5 games.
12 V OUT
Check the small green LED light on the power
supply circuit board. If the light is out there is a
short somewhere. If the light dims, there is an
overload in one of the circuits such as a bad motor.

Playfield Access
1. Turn power OFF at the power strip located
inside the back door of the game or unplug the
game from the wall outlet.
2. Unlock and lift off the control service panel.

3. Lift the tempered glass on the front edge
and pull toward the front. Remove and set
aside.
4. Perform maintenance or cleaning.

5. After performing maintenance or cleaning,
replace the glass and secure by locking the
control service panel in place.
6. Test the game to insure proper operation.
Coin Sensor Switch
Replacement.
1. With power to the game OFF, gain access
to the playfield as described above, for easier
access to the sensor.
2. Disconnect the two wires at the switch
terminals.
3. Remove the two Phillips head machine
screws holding the switch in place and remove
the switch.

4. Install the new switch being careful not to
bend the coin trip wire. Secure with two
machine screws.
5. Reconnect wires as shown in Figure 8. Be
sure that they are tight on the terminals. If not,
pinch tight with a pliers.
6. Reinstall top glass and control service panel
and check operation of the game.

Sensor Replacement
5. If replacing the sensor, remove the two
screws holding the sensor to the motor bracket
and replace.
IMPORTANT: Replacement of the lift motor
assembly or associated components should
only be performed by an experienced service
technician, as they are located in an area
requiring extensive disassembly of the game.
Contact Bay-Tek Service Department for
additional assistance if needed.

ARM POSITION SENSOR
The following is an abbreviated procedure for
the replacement of these components.
1. With power off to the game, remove the rear
access panel.
6. If replacing the arm assembly, drive out
the roll pin holding the cam to the end of the
shaft and remove the cam. See Figure 11.
2. Open the front access door and unplug the
motor wiring from the fuse block circuit board.
See Figure 4.
7. Disassemble the arm components from the
cam and replace the worn or bent parts, then
reassemble.
3. The following components need to be
removed as well as associated wiring and
wiring clips. The rear door stops, lower target
mounting panels and icicles near the motor
assembly.
8. To replace the entire motor, drive out the
roll pin securing the cam to the end of the motor
shaft and remove the arm assembly.
9. Remove the four machine screws, nuts and
star washers holding the motor to the motor
bracket. Note that the screw closest to the
sensor is installed backward to prevent
interference with the sensor.

4. It may be easier to replace some
components, with the entire motor assembly
removed from the game. Disconnect the sensor
wires at the connector. Disconnect the green
ground wire from the motor bracket. Disconnect
the cotter and clevis pins holding the link arm to
the under side of the table. Remove the four
hex head bolts and lock washers attaching the
motor mounting bracket to the inner mounting
surface.

10. Install the new motor onto the motor bracket
and reattach the arm assembly.
Circuit Boards
11. Reinstall the motor assembly in the game. CAUTION: Static electricity
could harm circuit boards
and processor chips. Always
ground yourself by cable or
by touching metal surfaces
prior to removing or servicing electronic
equipment in this game. Avoid working on
carpeted surfaces.
12. Fasten the green ground wire and reattach
the sensor connector. Reconnect the motor
power cord to the fuse block and secure all
wires to the game cabinet with wire clips.
13. Test to insure proper operation of the game.
Kicker Solenoid Replacement Display Circuit Board
The kicker solenoid’s purpose is to vibrate the
playfield, when the playfield is lowered, to
remove any loose coins/tokens from the
playfield.
The ‘Tickets Owed’ display circuit board is
replaced as follows.
1. Open the rear door panel and shut off
power to the game by turning the power strip
OFF.
1. Open the rear access door and shut OFF
power to the game.
2. Unplug the white phone cord from the circuit
board. See Figure 13.
2. Open the front access door and disconnect
the power cord which is plugged into the fuse
block, Figure 4. Remove wire clips holding cord
in place.
3. Remove the four hex nuts securing the
board to the upper display and remove the
board.
3. Remove the four hex nuts and star washers
securing the solenoid to the bracket. See Figure
12.
4. Install a new board in the reverse manner.
Test the game to insure it is working properly.
4. Install the new solenoid in reverse order and
test the game to insure it is working properly.
Be sure the green ground wire is fastened
under a mounting bolt.

Coin/Token Sensor Boards

Each of the target slots and ‘holes in the ice’
have circuit boards with emitters and detectors
to sense coins/tokens. The size and style vary
but the basic replacement is the same for all
except the ‘hole in the ice’ boards. See
separate procedure.
1. Open the rear door to shut OFF power to
the game and to gain access to the circuit
boards.

6. Test the game for proper operation.

IMPORTANT: Replacement of the hole sensor
boards should only be performed by an
experienced service technician, as they are
located in an area requiring extensive
disassembly of the game. Contact Bay-Tek
Service Department for additional assistance if
needed.

The following is an abbreviated procedure for
the replacement of these components.
2. If the faulty sensor is behind a coin chute,
remove the chute. Sensors located in the icicles
are mounted to extension brackets that need to
be removed to gain access to the sensors. See
Figure 14.
1. Open the rear door to shut OFF power to
the game.
2. To gain access, the following components
need to be removed as well as associated
wiring and wiring clips. The rear door stops,
lower target mounting panels.
3. Disconnect the wiring connector on the
circuit board to be replaced. See Figure 15.
4. Remove the four square head screws
holding the circuit board to the mounting board.
5. Replace the circuit board and reconnect the
wiring.

Main Circuit Board
Replacing the main Gen 5 circuit board.
1. Carefully unplug the various connectors,
and white display cable. See Figure 18 and
Figure 19.

3. Remove the two screws holding the black
plastic tray assembly in the game. Disconnect
the two wire connectors and remove the tray
from the game.
DISCONNECT
2. Remove the four Phillips head screws at the
four corners of the board and remove the board
from the mounting panel.
3. Before installing the new board, check to be
sure that the dipswitches are set in the same
position as the old board.
NOTE: If swapping the circuit board with a
spare Gen 5 board for testing purposes, be
sure to also swap out the software chip. Use
extreme care to prevent static electricity and to
prevent bending socket pins.
4. Install the new board and reconnect the
wiring connectors and the white display cable.
Be sure the correct software and sound chips
are installed.
5. Re-test the game to insure everything is
working properly.

4. Disconnect the wiring connector on the
circuit board to be replaced. See Figure 17.
5. Remove the four hex head locknuts holding
the circuit board to the mounting board.
6. Replace the circuit board. Re-install the tray
assembly and back components.
7. Test the game again for proper operation.
