1 User instructionsEnglish
The CPV valve terminal with field bus direct connection
(CPV Direct) is intended exclusively for use as a slave on
the PROFIBUS-DP field bus (as per EN 50170) in industrial
applications.
The maximum values specified in the section “Technical
specifications” must be observed here. Detailed information
can be found in the Pneumatics manual P.BE-CPV-DI02-...
Warning
SSwitch off the power supply before connecting or
disconnecting plugs (otherwise this could lead to
functional damage).
SUse only power units which guarantee reliable
electrical isolation of the operating voltage as per
IEC/DIN EN60204-1. Observe also the general
requirements for PELV power circuits as per IEC/DIN
EN60204-1.
SConnect an earth conductor of sufficient diameter to
the connection marked with the earth symbol.

3 Configuration
Caution
The CPV Direct contains electronically sensitive compo
nents. The CPV Direct will be damaged if you touch the
contact surfaces of the plug connectors or if you do not
observe the regulations for handling electrostatically
sensitive components.
Proceed with the configuration as follows:
1. Switch off the power supply.
2. Remove the switch cover.
3. Set the following with the DIL switch: the station
number, the device-related diagnosis for PROFIBUS-DP.
4. If modules or valve terminals are connected to the CPI
extension connection: Carry out automatic recognition
(see section 7).
5. Refit the switch cover.
6. If the CPI system is the first or last slave in a field bus
segment, the terminating resistor in the Festo Sub-D
plug must be activated.
Warning
SCheck the measures for putting the system into a
safe state in the event of an EMERGENCY STOP.

4 DIL switches
4.1 Set the station number
Set the station number for the PROFIBUS-DP with the
switch elements 1 … 7.
Permitted station numbers are: 1; …; 125

4.2 Set device-related diagnosis
The device-related diagnosis can be activated/deactivated
with switch element 8 of the DIL switch.

5 Addressing
The following applies in general for addressing the
CPVDirect:
1. A CPV valve terminal always occupies 16 output
addresses.
A CP valve location occupies two addresses:
– lower-value address = pilot solenoid 14
– higher-value address = pilot solenoid 12
2. CP valve terminals, electric input or output modules on
the CP extension string each occupy 8, 16, ... input or
output addresses depending on the design. Note the
relevant documentation for the module.

7 CPI extension and SAVE button
7.1 Extension of the CPV Direct
You can connect CPI/CP modules and/or CP valve terminals
with and without extended functions to the CPI extension
connection.
The valve terminals CPV-DI02/CS02 are CPI masters.
Note the rules for the extension in section 8 “Technical
specifications” and in the manual P.BE-CPV-DI02-...
7.2 Saving the string assignment
Requirement: The modules in the CP string must be con
nected correctly, and the power supply must be switched
off.
1. Switch on the power supply for the CPV Direct and, if
applicable, for the CPI/CP modules/valve terminals.
With a new or modified string assignment the LED P
flashes.
2. Press the SAVE button for at least 1 s.
The LED goes out P.
3. Check the address assignments of your CPI system
before starting user programs.
