·SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS!!
Electrical Precautions
·Before connecting the appliance, check that voltage data on nameplate corresponds with electrical supply.
·Grounded tools must be plugged into an outlet properly installed and grounded in accordance with all
codes and ordinances. Never remove the grounding prong or modify the plug in any way. Do not use any
adapter plugs. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly
grounded.
·Use of a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) for additional safety is strongly recommended.
·Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an
increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded.
·Don’t expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of
electric shock.
·Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord to carry the tools or pull the plug from an outlet. Keep cord
away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Replace damaged cords immediately. Damaged cords
increase the risk of electric shock.
·When operating a power tool outside, use an outdoor extension cord rated for outdoor use.
·Turn unit off and unplug power cord when servicing or leaving unit unattended.
·When unplugging the cord, grasp the plug body not the cord.

2
·Do not handle plug with wet hands.
Operational Precautions
·This appliance must be used only for its designated purpose—a steam generator with cleaning accessories.
The manufacturer will not be held responsible for damages arising from improper use of this appliance.
·Never direct steam in your direction or in the direction of others, the steam temperature can reach 290°F
at the outlet and presents a danger of scalding.
·Check with your doctor before putting any weight on your back.
·Do not make any sudden movements with this unit on your back. Water can move or slosh around causing
one to lose balance and/or hurt themselves.
·Lift the unit onto a bench before strapping to your back. This will make it easier to strap on.
·Avoid accidental starting; be sure switch is off before plugging in.
·Electrical appliances and fittings should never be cleaned with steam, even when not connected to a
power supply. Exercise extreme caution when cleaning electrical plant equipment.
·Do not use on or near heat sensitive equipment.
·Exercise care when accessing internal components. Steam-associated components, especially the drain
screw, get very hot during operation and cool down very slowly after use.
·Consult Goodway about using unspecified chemicals; heating chemicals or mixing incompatible chemicals
can be dangerous and life threatening.
·If the machine does not operate properly or has been damaged, return to Goodway for service.
Servicing Precautions
·The GVC-BP-1700 must NEVER be immersed in water. Doing so is an extreme shock hazard and will
endanger life.
·Tool service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed by
unqualified personnel could result in a risk of injury.
·When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Follow instructions in the Maintenance
section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow Maintenance instructions may create
a risk of electric shock or injury.
·Replace any damaged, missing or worn safety labels. Missing labels can compromise one’s safety.
Operating Instructions
Introduction
The Goodway GVC-BP-1700 gives you all the power and versatility of vapor-steam cleaning in a compact, easy
to carry package. It is ideal for applications in tight areas or when maneuverability is a priority.
Operation
For the GVC-BP-1700 to work efficiently, the ambient temperature should be between 50°F (10°C) and 104°F
(40°C) with humidity lower than 90%.
Preparing the appliance. Before operating the appliance, fill the boiler to allow steam to be generated. Fill
the filling bottle with up to 60 fl oz. deionized or tap water. Remove the water tank cap and empty the bottle
into the tank opening. Replace cap on the water tank. If cleaning with GVC-500 detergent, remove chemical
tank cap, fill tank with up to 60 fl oz cleaning chemical, and replace cap on chemical tank.
Operating the appliance
·Plug unit into an appropriate electrical receptacle.
·Press the main (ON/OFF) switch, the button will illuminate.
·The internal pump will activate, filling the boiler as necessary. As soon as the green control lamp
illuminates, the appliance has reached the proper temperature and is ready for use.
·The appliance is equipped with adjustable straps to be used like a backpack.
·Press the red switch (steam delivery) located on the handle and allow 10 seconds for the boiler to be
cleared of residual air and condensed water. Use in short bursts.
·Select the desired steam level with the steam control knob.
·NOTE:
oWhile operating, the green control lamp will switch on and off as the boiler refills and water is
being heated to maintain a proper temperature, this is normal.
oWhen water level is low, a warning alarm will indicate that the boiler has to be refilled. Add water
to tank as before.
oWhen the chemical level is low, the appliance will stop immediately. Add chemical as before.

3
Attachments and Accessories
Handle. Located at the end of the steam hose, the handle is used for controlling steam and chemical delivery
and for connecting extension tubes and accessories.
·There are two switches on the handle
oRed switch (12) controls steam delivery
oLight blue switch (13) controls chemical delivery. For a mixture of steam/chemical, press both
switches simultaneously. Use in short bursts.
·Connecting accessories
oAll accessories can be connected directly to the handle (11) or extension tubes (a). To connect
different accessories to the hose or tubes, insert the attachment into the handle/tube and rotate
the locking ring (14) clockwise to secure. Failure to lock accessories onto handle/tube can pose a
hazard as tools can come off suddenly while in use.
oDo not remove accessories while steam and chemical switches are activated.
Short (c) and Long (d) steam nozzles Window squeegee (b)
For removing stubborn dirt from corners, joints, and
hard to reach areas. Can be used in conjunction with
nylon (f) or stainless steel (g) detail brushes.
Suitable for cleaning windows, mirrors, and other
hard surfaces.
CAUTION: At low ambient temperatures, heating
glass by applying steam from a distance of 2-4 in. is
recommended before cleaning.
Rectangular brush (h) Triangular brush (j)
For cleaning hard floors as well as carpet. Brush can
be used to loosen dirt, then a cloth can be attached to
tool to pick up dirt and condensed steam.
For cleaning hard floors, carpets, and upholstery,
particularly in narrow, hard to reach areas that the
rectangular brush is not suited for.

4
Maintenance
The boiler must be serviced every 100 hours of operation or every 6 months (and more frequently if used with
particularly hard water). Servicing consists of cleaning the boiler using the descaling chemical available
through Goodway (P/N 93-11298).
Storage
Always store the GVC-BP-1700 in a safe, dry, and frost-free place. Frozen components can fail. Exercise care
when storing directly after use as residual heat remains for some time.
