1 OVERVIEW
You have purchased class III personal protective equipment (PPE) for protection
against the risk of serious injury and fatality and we thank you for the trust that
you have placed in us. In order to ensure that you are completely satisfied with this
product, you must, BEFORE EACH USE, follow the instructions in this manual.
This manual covers the Portable Anchor Device DuraHoist 3Pod and accessories
for entering into a confined space.
Accessories: DuraHoist 3Pod is used in combination with Miller MightEvac Self
Retracting Lifeline with Emergency Retrieval Hoist or/and DuraHoist Winch.
Each accessory must be associated to its own bracket. Only this accessory is
compatible to be installed and used on one of the DuraHoist 3Pod leg. Do not use
any other accessories.
The DuraHoist 3Pod with accessories serves as an anchorage point for protective
equipment against fall from height while entering, maintaining, repairing and
cleaning in confined spaces.
Entering a confined space is dangerous and can bring serious injuries caused by
a fall from height. DuraHoist 3Pod in combination with Miller MightEvac Self-
Retracting Lifeline with Emergency Retrieval Hoist does not prevent free fall but
limits the drop.
WARNING:
We recommend you to read these instructions prior to each use. In
addition, the manufacturer or its representative assumes no liability for
use, storage or maintenance performed in a manner other than that described in
these instructions.
The cover provided under the product warranty is also subject to compliance
with the manufacturer’s instructions. Failure to comply will result in the warranty
being voided. This warranty is given to only one purchaser of the product from
the manufacturer, unless otherwise stipulated by contractual provisions to the
contrary approved by the manufacturer.
IF THE PURCHASER IS NOT THE USER, HE MUST PASS ON THESE
INSTRUCTIONS TO THE END USER. WHENEVER POSSIBLE, IT IS STRONGLY
RECOMMENDED THAT PPE IS PERSONALLY ASSIGNED TO A SINGLE USER.
IF THE PRODUCT IS SOLD OUTSIDE THE FIRST COUNTRY OF DESTINATION,
FOR THE SAFETY OF THE USER, THE DEALER MUST ENSURE THAT THE
PRODUCT IS COMPLIANT WITH THE LAWS APPLICABLE IN THAT COUNTRY
AND PROVIDE ISNTRUCTIONS FOR THE PRODUCT IN THE APPROPRIATE
LANGUAGE, COVERING ALL THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE EN 795:2012,
type B.
PRODUCT COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER PPE (HARNESSES, ANCHORS AND
CONNECTING DEVICES): ENSURE THAT THE PPE YOU HAVE PURCHASED
IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF OTHER FALL ARREST

SYSTEM COMPONENTS AND THAT THEIR SAFETY FUNCTIONS DO NOT
INTERFERE WITH ONE ANOTHER.
A full body harness must be the only appropriate device for holding the body. It
must comply with EN 361. In case of working in suspension, full body harness
must also comply with EN 813.

Please be aware that the end user is prohibited from changing,
repairing or modifying any other part of the DuraHoist 3Pod. Repairs
or changes of other parts can be provided only by a certified
Honeywell service center.

2  TRAINING
The use of our products is restricted to competent persons having undergone
appropriate training (provided by an authorized person or organization) or under
the supervision of a competent supervisor.
The completion of this training must be recorded by the issue of a course
certificate showing the date, location, name and company of the training
organization, the full name of the user, etc.
Make yourself familiar with this PPE and ensure you have fully understood how it
works (see chapter 7 - USE).
Anyone performing work at height should be in good physical condition. Certain
medical conditions (medication, cardiovascular condition, etc.) may impair the
safety of the user during normal use of the PPE. If in doubt, check with your doctor.
3  COMPLIANCE WITH THE EUROPEAN STANDARD
• The DuraHoist 3Pod itself is an EN 795:2012, type B - certified Portable Anchor
Device for confined space, i.e. an Anchor Device with one or more stationary
anchor points without the need for a structural anchor or a fixing element to fix
it to the structure.
• The Miller MightEvac Self-Retracting Lifeline with Emergency Retrieval Hoist
is a retractable device designed to be used by personnel for fall protection in
confined space applications with a quick-activating retrieval mechanism for
emergency evacuation. Miller MightEvac Self-Retracting Lifeline is EN 360
certified and in combination with DuraHoist 3Pod EN 1496:2006, class A
certified.
• The DuraHoist Winch is a high quality winch made of stainless steel for multiple
applications, such as machine construction, water treatment applications,
etc. When used in combination with the Durahoist 3Pod, it conforms to the
requirements of Directive Machines 2006/42/EG for the material lifting.
It’s reminded that persons may be lifted only by means of work equipment and
accessories provided for that purpose.
However, in accordance with the 2006/42 (article 15) et 2009/104 (Annexe
II - §3.1.2) directives, exceptionally, work equipment which is not specifically
designed for the purpose of lifting persons may be used for that purpose, provided
appropriate action has been taken to ensure safety(1) in accordance with national
legislation and/or practice providing for appropriate supervision.
In this case, while workers are on work equipment designed for lifting loads the
control position must be manned at all times. Persons being lifted must have
reliable means of communication. In the event of danger, there must be reliable
means of evacuating them.
(1) In order to ensure partially these conditions, Honeywell recommends minimal use of a fall arrest
system in conjunction with the winch, connected to the back D ring of the worker's harness (e.g. via the
Mightevac system).
PPE products have undergone a standard EU examination with a notified body,
which ensure an EU certificate confirming that all equipment and corresponding
instructions comply with Regulation (EU) 2016/425 .

4  TRANSPORT AND STORAGE
Proper storage of your PPE will ensure better product
longevity and also ensure your safety.
During transport and storage, make sure your PPE is placed
away from heat sources, humidity, corrosive atmosphere,
ultraviolet rays, etc. and prevent your PPE from being subjected to any impact or
excessive vibration.
3Pod DuraHoist Bag (ref. 1034511) is recommended to use for transportation.
5  CLEANING
Proper care of your PPE will ensure a longer life for the product and also ensure
your safety. Be sure to adhere strictly to these guidelines:
• Clean with water and mild soap. Do not use any solvents, acids or bases under
any circumstances.
• Allow to dry naturally in a well ventilated area away from any open fire or other
source of heat
6  BEFORE USE
A rescue plan and risk assessment must be established to deal with any
emergency that may occur and allow for the fastest possible evacuation under
the best possible conditions.
Actions before first use:
• Complete the identification form by copying the marking information (see
part IV). It is your responsibility to make sure that this file is updated and
archived. If nothing is written on the identification file, the product must be
considered as not having been maintained and no guarantee will be given by
the manufacturer.
• Fill the inspection label on the product (date of first use + 1 year) (see part III -
label Q).
Actions before every use, check:
• Integrity of the PPE, and the integrity of any other equipment that may be
associated with it.
• The date of the next periodic inspection is not overdue. (see part III - label Q and
part V).
• The instructions for use of the equipment used with this product must be
correctly followed.
• All parts of the system are not damaged and are in good condition.
• The carabiners are provided with the lock function and lock correctly.
• All screws, closing rivets and pins are present and suitably fixed.
• There is no corrosion on the metallic parts. White scaling or tarnishing is
acceptable if it does not affect the function of the devices.
• All pulleys are rotating freely.
• In case of use in combination with Miller MightEvac, check that the braking
function of the Self-Retracting Lifeline with Emergency Retrieval Hoist is
working correctly. This can be verified by giving a quick tug on the cable, which
must stop instantly (see Miller MightEvac manual).
• The product markings are legible.
• In case of use in combination with DuraHoist Winch, check that this device is
working properly (see DuraHoist Winch manual).

If your product is damaged, do not use it and contact the manufacturer or its
representative. If you have any doubts regarding the safety of a product or if the
product has been used to arrest a fall, it is necessary for your safety that the PPE is
withdrawn from service and returned to the manufacturer or an authorized service
center for inspection or disposal. Regarding other PPE equipment of the portable
anchor device, always refer to their user instructions.
Before further use of this PPE, it is your responsibility to obtain a written certificate
from your repairer authorizing you to resume using the product. Otherwise, we
assume no liability in the event of the product malfunctioning.
7  USE
DURAHOIST 3POD MAXIMAL OPERATING DIMENSIONS
7.1  GENERAL INFORMATION
A  DURAHOIST 3POD:
• For the safety of users it is mandatory to operate at least in a pair and to keep
communication between operators on the ground and operators in confined
spaces.
• Before any installation and use a risk assessment must be done in order to
identify if the anchor device is fitting to the work purpose or there is any risk due
to environment conditions. It is necessary to take any action to ensure safety on
the workplace.
• It is also necessary to have clear rescue plan before usage.
• Before first use be sure to have received mandatory training for using DuraHoist
3Pod and all connected devices.
• When in use, protect your PPE against any risk related to the working
environment: thermal, electrical, mechanical, chemical, edges, etc. When in
use, regularly check the adjustment and fitting of components.
• This device is constructed for connecting maximum 2 users. Each user max.

• Temperature limits for Miller DuraHoist 3Pod are from - 30°C to + 60°C.
• Structure strength that is supporting Miller DuraHoist 3Pod must be minimum
10kN/1000kg. If not sure refer to building or construction information.
• Follow only instruction described in this user manual.
• Adjust the leg opening angle according to the manhole and check that the
distance between the edge of manhole and the 3Pod feet is 150mm minimum.
B  ACCESSORIES:
B1  MILLER MIGHTEVAC
• The Miller MightEvac Self-Retracting Lifeline with Emergency Retrieval Hoist is
a device for securing the operator connected to the DuraHoist 3Pod.In normal
circumstances it is only connected to the user. In case of a fall or any other
accident of the connected user it is equipped with an emergency handle which
can be used to hoist the user to safe ground. Refer to the User Manual of Miller
MightEvac (Fig. 2).
• The emergency rescue function using the Miller MightEvac handle is applicable
only when the user connected to this device falls or has a serious injury limiting
the user from getting to safe ground (Fig. 3)

B2  DURAHOIST WINCH
Refer to the User Manual of DuraHoist Winch.
The DuraHoist winch can be used to lower and lift equipment, tools and other
types of material. Maximum weight load limit for material handling is 300kg (other
applications, see « §3 – COMPLIANCE WITH THE EUROPEAN STANDARD »).
A risk assessment and rescue plan must be done before starting work and hazards
connected to the working environment must be taken into consideration when
selecting equipment for a given application. Failure to observe these hazards
could result in serious injury or death. This equipment must be installed and used
by persons who have been trained in its correct application and use.
7.2 SETTING UP AND ADJUSTMENT
A  DURAHOIST 3POD INSTALLATION
LEGS ANGLE POSITIONING:
1.Pull the Adjusting bolt to release locking mechanism (Fig. 4).
2.Adjust the 3Pod to desirable opening angle (Fig. 5).
3.The Adjusting bolt must be fully locked (Fig. 6).
LEGS LENGTH POSITIONING:
1.Pull leg push pin out of the 3Pod leg. Now you can adjust the length of the 3Pod
leg (Fig. 7).
2.Push the leg push pin in the leg. Make sure the pin is correctly locked (Fig. 8).
3. Repeat for all three legs (Fig. 9).
INSTALLING OF THE FEET WEBBING (FOR MAXIMUM OPENING ANGLE
ONLY):
1.Always install the Feet webbing when using maximal opening angle of the
DuraHoist 3Pod.
2.Connect 3Pod leg at the bottom level with the Feet webbing. Install the feet
webbing from the inside of the legs (Fig. 10).
3.There are cut-outs in the feet to guide the feet webbing.
4.Webbing must be firmly tensioned (use the feet webbing length adjuster) and
not tangled.
B  ACCESSORIES
B1  MILLER MIGHTEVAC AND MILLER MIGHTEVAC BRACKET (Fig. 11 & 12)
INSTALLATION OF THE MILLER MIGHTEVAC BRACKET ON THE 3POD LEG:
1.Slide the Bracket on the 3Pod leg outer profile from the right side (Fig. 13).
Ensure the bracket slides over the 3Pod leg push pin.
2.Secure the bracket from the left side with two Push pins (Fig. 14)
3.Check the bracket is correctly installed (Fig. 15).
INSTALLING OF MILLER MIGHTEVAC ON MILLER MIGHTEVAC BRACKET:
1.First slide the attachment swivel of the Miller MightEvac into the rear part of the
bracket (Fig. 16).
2.Slide the Miller MightEvac into the front part of the bracket. Secure the Miller
MightEvac attachment swivel with the push pin into the rear part of the bracket
(Fig. 17).
3.Insert the fastener through the lockwasher and spacer into the hole in the
bracket which aligns with a threaded hole in the MightEvac unit. Tighten to
10±1 Nm. Repeat for opposite side (Fig. 18).

B2  DURAHOIST WINCH AND DURAHOIST WINCH BRACKET
Installation of the DuraHoist Winch (Fig. F) onto the Winch Bracket:
1.Mount the DuraHoist Winch onto the bracket (Fig. 19).
2.Tighten the 4 fasteners provided to specific torque: 40±5 Nm (Fig. 20).
DEVICE CABLE INSTALLATION:
1.The device must be installed only on the leg with the pulley.
2.Install the device cable on the pulley and run the cable through the groove (Fig.
21).
7.3  OPERATIONAL LIMITS
• On DuraHoist 3Pod head you may use only the swivel eye or 3 holes on the
head as an anchorage point (Fig. 22).
• Maximum number of anchorage points used at the same time is 2 when
connected only to DuraHoist 3Pod. In case of using accessory of Miller
MightEvac or DuraHoist Winch, you can use only one anchorage point on the
head.
• Maximum opening angle of DuraHoist 3Pod shall be used with correctly
installed Feet webbing only. There shall be no obstacle to the webbing.
• Feet webbing is not a PPE and can be used to connect 3Pod feet only.
• Make sure all Detent pins are fully pushed in and Head Adjusting Bolt is fully
locked in.
• DuraHoist 3Pod can be used for up to two persons, each connected to different
anchorage point.
• Only one connection is allowed per one anchorage point.
• When DuraHoist 3Pod is used as a part of fall arrest system, the user shall be
equipped with a fall arrester to limit the maximum dynamic forces exerted on
the user during the arrest of a fall to a maximum of 6kN.
• It is forbidden to handle any load when a person is accessing the confined
space. Only one person is allowed to access the confined space.
• The supporting ground under DuraHoist 3Pod must be horizontal.
• The head position of the tripod must in all cases be vertical.
• Differential leg adjustment is allowed (Fig. 23).
• Always check the stability of DuraHoist 3Pod after installation and do not use if
it is not stable.
• A Risk assessment must always be made before each use –specific to the
working situation.
• The risk assessment will mandate the approach to mitigate the risk of fall for the
user at ground level. One possible solution from the Risk assessment could be
to use the anchorage point of the DuraHoist 3Pod
• It is not allowed to use the 3pod as fall protection device and lifting device
simultaneously.
8  PERIODIC INSPECTION
This equipment must be inspected at least once a year. A Competent person,
properly trained and qualified, must inspect this equipment in compliance with
these instructions and appropriate details of the inspection must be recorded.
At each periodic inspection, complete the form Appendix number VII and
attach a new inspection label with the next inspection date. The frequency of
examination shall be increased according to applicable regulations.
