systems,cuttingunits fortextileapplications andelectricandpneumaticcutters.
Initiallyconsideredasapointof referenceforcuttingsystemsinthe
textileapplications,theRasor®products arenowadayswidelyusedin
otherfields:chemical,automotive,nauticalandsportsectorsandin
furnituremanufacturing.

1.GENERALSAFETY RULES
ThismanualisanintegralpartofcuttingunitD86PSandmustbecarefully
readbeforeusingitsinceitgivesimportantindicationswithregards toits safe
installation,useandmaintenance.Keepitwithcare.
BeforeusingcuttingunitD86PS,readcarefullythefollowinggeneralsafety
rules.
•PACKAGING.
Aftertakingoffthepackagingmakesurethatthecuttingunitisintact.In
caseofdoubtdonotuseitandcontactanauthorizedservicecentre.Donot
leavepiecesofpackaging(plasticbags,foampolystyrene,boxes,etc.)within
thereachofchildrenordisabledpersonssincetheyarepotentialsourcesof
danger.
•AVOIDDANGEROUSENVIRONMENTS.
PreventthecuttingunitD86PScomponentsfromcomingincontactwith
damporwetsurfaces.
•KEEPCHILDRENAWAY.
Unauthorizedpersons,inparticularchildren,mustbekeptawayfromthe
workingarea.
•FEEDCABLE.
Preventthefeedcablefromcomingincontactwithhot objects,pointed
surfacesorsharpedges.Neverpullthefeedcableofthemachine.Itmust
neverbereplacedbytheuser.Ifnecessarycontactprofessionallyqualified
staff.
•KEEPTHE WORKINGAREAALWAYSINORDER.
Theworkplacemustalwaysbekeptinorderandwell lightened;liquidsoroil
tracesmustnotbepresent.
•ALWAYSUSECUTTINGUNITSD86PSPROPERLY.
Usethecuttingunitsonlytocarryouttheworkstheyhavebeendesigned
for;donotusethemimproperly.
•OBSERVETHEUSEOFTHE TOOLS.
Donotcutexcessivelythickmaterialsandalwayscheckbladeconditions.
•AVOIDACCIDENTALSTARTINGS.
BeforeconnectingcuttingunitD86PS,makesurethateverythingisinstalled
properly.
•CLOTHING.
Donotuselargeclothesoraccessoriesthatmightgetstuck inthemoving
parts.
•GOGGLESANDPROTECTIVEMETALMESHGLOVES.
Always usegoggles,protectivemetalmesh glovesapprovedbyRasor®during
useandmaintenanceoperations(accordingtoUNIEN388:2004standard).
•SPAREPARTS.
Duringmaintenanceandreplacementoperations useonlyoriginalspareparts.
Blademaintenancemust beonlyperformedbyRasor®technicians.
•INSTALLATION.
Anyinstallationthatisnot inconformitywiththese
specifications couldjeopardizeyoursafetyandcancelsthe
warranty.

Alsomakesurethecuttingunithasnotbeendamagedduringtransport.

2.TRANSPORTAND PACKING
Thecuttingunitisdeliveredinacardboardbox,insidewhichtherearevarious options.The
codeof theorderedproductandits serialnumberareindicatedoutsidethepackage(see
picture1).Thefollowingaccessoriesarecontainedinabaginsidethepackage:
1) Poligonalblade;
2) Butterflywrenchforbladenutdisassembly;
3) Shukocablewithoutplug;
4) Driftforbladedisassembly.
3.PLATE DATA
Themanufacturer'sidentificationandCESTANDARD2006/42/CEconformityplate(see picture
below) islocatedonthefrontpartof thecuttingunit.
Theplatemust not beremovedatall,evenifthemachineisresold.Alwaysreferto theserial
numberwrittenontheplateitselfwhencontactingthemanufacturer.
Severalsafetywarningsareprintedonacardwhichisappliedto thecuttingunitfeeding
cable;suchwarningsmust bestrictlyfollowedbyeveryonedealingwiththemachine.The
companyisnot to beheldresponsiblefordamageto propertyoraccidents to peoplewhich
mightoccuriftheabove-mentionedwarningsarenot observed.In such acase,theoperator
istheonlypersonresponsible.

Thefixturedescribedinthismanualisasmall cuttingunitmodelD86PSwhichcanbe
assembledonautomaticmachines(e.g.spreaders,computerizedcutting)bymeansof
properholeslocatedinthemotorsupport.
D86PScanoperatecontinuouslyanditcancutatvarious widths bymeans of multiple
installation.
Bycuttingwiththebladeandthecounterbladealwaysincontactandthanksto thesteel
upperqualityof thebladesupplied,D86PSguaranteesthecleanseparationwithoutfrayings
of thetwobordersof thecutmaterial.Moreover,the220 Voltsingle-phasemotorguarantees
abladeperipheralspeedof230 m/minallowinggreatcuttingperformancesintermsof
translationspeed.
Thesmall dimensions of theblade(86 mm)andthelightweight(only2,4 Kg) of thecutting
unitmakeitideallysuitedforsmall radius cutprofilesonmaterialswiththickness upto 2,5
cm.Asharpenerassembledonthecuttingunitheadallowswhettingthebladeatany
momentwithoutdisassemblingit.Aftercarryingoutthisoperation,itispossibleto start
cuttingagain.Ahighpowermotor,perfectlybalanced,withahighnumberof revolutions
andtotallyfree of maintenance,reducesthevibrations to theminimum,thus makingthe
cuttingunitcomplieswithItalianLegislativeDecree No. 187 dated19/8/2005, whichadopts
EuropeanDirectiveNo.2002/44/CEconcerningtherisksderivingfrommechanicalvibrations.The
mechanicalparts aremadeof highresistancesteel, bronzeandaluminium andrequirelubrication
afterseveralworkinghours.

It isadvisableforcuttingunitD86PSownersto verifythecompliancewiththestandard
concerningsafetyof workers:Italianlegislativedecree N.277 ITEMIV(DATED15-08-91).
Theuseof earprotectingdevicesiscompulsory.
Themaximum acousticpressurelevelemittedbycuttingunitD86PSisabout60 dB(A).
NoisetestshavebeencarriedoutincompliancewithStandardISO11202(1995).The
devicenoiselevels,measuredatdifferentdistances(withoutanysoundwavefilteringsystem),
varyintheextentof fewdb (A).
CuttingunitD86PShasbeendesigned,manufacturedandassembledto cutanykindof
fabricsormaterials,withtheexceptionof metal,plasticorwood,bymeans of rotarypoligonal
blades.
Thisequipmentmust not work:
-inareasproneto explosions;
-inpresenceof finedustorcorrosivegases;
-onwetordampmaterials;
- tocutplastic,metalandwoodenmaterials.
It isforbiddento usecuttingunitD86PSforpurposesdifferentfromtheabove-mentioned
ones.

8.USE WARNINGS
We recommendfollowingtheindications belowinorderto alwaysworkinsafetyconditions.
·All theoperations must becarriedoutcomplyingstrictlywiththesafetyrulesof the
countrywherethedeviceisto beinstalled.
·ItisSTRICTLYFORBIDDENto smokeduringtheinstallationoradjustmentoperations of
thecuttingunit.
·TheCustomerundertakesto complywithandmakehisstaffobservealltherulesand
regulationsinforceconcerningsafety,preventionof accidentsandhealthinthework
place.Therefore,theCustomerassumestheresponsibilitytostrictlyfollowalltherulesand
regulations inforce,as wellasthespecialprovisionsinforceinsportandpublicinstallations
theCustomerdeclaresto knowafterreceivingall therelativenecessaryinformation.
·Thecuttingunitworksalsowithoutitssafetyprotectivedevice.Thisprotectivedevice
must NEVERberemoved.
·Alwayschecktheresistanceof thematerialto becutandthekindofbladewhichisbeing
used.
·TheCustomershallequiphisownpersonnelwithalltheindividualsafetyprotectionsfor
theexecutionoftheworks,aswellaswiththeoneswhichmightbeprescribedbythe
Manufacturerduetospecificdangerconditionsoftheplantoroftheareawherethe
personnelmust work.
·Onlyoneoperatormustusethecuttingunitalwaysstandingbehindtheguidehandle.Do
notmakeanyadjustmentwhilethebladeisworkingorwhiletheelectricplugisconnected.
·Always payattentionto theelectriccablepositiontopreventitfrom beingcutordamaged
bytheblade.
·ItisallowedtoassemblecuttingunitD86PSonmachinesO.E.M.onconditionthattheir
originalstructureisnot modified.Otherwise,theinterventionmust becertifiedbyRasor®.
Firstlymakesurethatthelinesareabletofeedthecuttingunitcorrecltly,in
compliancewiththesafetyrules (forthefeaturerequiredseepar.5).
We suggest installingamagnetothermicsafetydevicebeforethecuttingunitand
check thatthegroundcircuitiseffective.Beforeworkingonthefeedingcablepull
theplugout.Checkthatelectricconnectionsandprotectionscorrespondto the
drivingforceandtheplatedatavalues (voltageandcurrent),
requiredbythedifferentelectriccircuits.Possiblefaultyground
connections maketheworkingconditionsunsafe.Possible
damagesarenotchargedto Rasor®.ByreferringtotheEC 11-
27/1standardalltheworkscarriedoutbymeansof electric
currentmustbeperformedbyastaff,whohasbeen provided
withall thedevicesrequiredbytheabove-mentioned
standard.Fortheworkscarriedoutundervoltage,itis
necessarythattheemployercertifiesthesuitability, against
formativeprocesses.Asthecuttingunit D86PSissupplied
withoutplug,theusermust useaplughomologatedinthe
countryinwhichthecuttingunitisused.IntheEuropean
CountriesaShukoplugisrequired(see picture 3).Neverchange
thelenghtof thecablesupplied.ThecuttingunitD86PSisa
class IIelectricdevice;therefore,itdoesnot needearthing.

11.INSTALLATION AND USE
Eventhoughthecuttingunitissafe,operatorsmust payattentionto preservetheirand
otherpeople’ssafety.
LAttheendof theworkingoperations,themotorcouldbeveryhot.
LThecuttingbladecanworkevenwhentheprotectivedeviceisdisassembled.
Toinstall andusethecuttingunitmanually,proceedasfollows:
1)Fixthecuttingunitonlevelsquaresoranglesbymeans of four5MAscrews,byinserting
theminthefourholeslocatedinthemotorlowercover(see pictures4and5).
NOTE
Thecuttingunitcanbeinstalledinanyposition/angle:vertically,laterallyanditcanbeturned
upsidedown.It isnot compulsoryfortheTeflonbaseto touchthemachinetable.
2)Laythematerialto becut;
3)Connectthecuttingunitto theelectricfeeding(see picture6);
3)Putthematerialonthecuttingfoot(see picture7);
4)Adjust thefrontmobileprotectionaccordingto thethicknessof thematerialtobecut(see
picture7);
5)Enabletheswitch;onceithasbeenenabled,itlightswithagreenlight(see picture8).
NOTE
CuttingunitD86PScanworkinafixedposition(thematerialhasto bemoved) oritcan
moveforwardwhilethematerialiskeptinthesameposition.Makesurethematerialto be
cutisproperlystretched,preventingitfromcurling.

Neverusethetwobolts whichfixthemotorto thecuttingpartto fastencuttingunitD
86PS.Thisoperation maycausethemotorshaftto break.Inthiscase,warrantyisnot valid.

12.BLADESHARPENING AND SHARPENERADJUSTMENT
Thebladesharpeningiscarriedoutwiththecutting
uniton,byloweringtheproperlever(1,Pict.9),until
thecuttingedgeoftherotatingbladeisreachedand
theexternaledgeissharpened.
Repeatthisprocedure3-4times,for3-4seconds.
Tocarryoutagoodsharpening,lowerthelever
progressively(1,Pict.9),byavoidingabruptmovements
andanextremepressureontheleveritself,inorderto
protecttheemerywheelfromwearordamage.The
sharpeningproceduremustbecarriedoutcarefullyin
particularwhenawornbladeisreplacedwithanew
one.Inthiscase,anextremepressureonthesharpening
levermaydamagethecuttingprofileofthenewblade,
compromisingits correctuse.Therefore,wesuggest
adjustingtheemerywheelasfollows,afterassembling
anewbladeonthecuttingunit:
·Disconnectthedevicefromthepowersupply.
·Manuallylowerthesharpenersothattheemery
comesintocontactwiththecuttingbladeprofile(Pict.9).
·Bymeans ofascrewdriver,loosenthescrew(2,Pict.10)
·Manuallyrotatethethreadedbush (3, Pict.10)bringingtheemeryandthebladecloser.
·Tightenthescrew(2,Pict.10)andsharpenthebladeaspreviouslydescribed.

13. LUBRICATION
Every3-4workinghours,itisnecessaryto lubricatethe
pairofgears.Tocarryoutthisoperation,removethe
protectiveplug“A”locatedonthemotorsupportof the
cuttingunitandfill itwithlubricatinggreaseRasor.Screw
plug“A”againafewturns.Screwplug“A”afewturns
every2-3workinghours(see picture11).
Theblademust neverbedirtywithgreaseoroil.

14. MOTOR BRUSHREPLACEMENT
Sincewornmotorbrushesmaycausecuttingunitmalfunctions (non-start,intermittentstart),
check motorbrushesperiodically.Openthemotorcoverbyunscrewingthe4screwsonthe
cuttingunithead.Removethebrush metalcontacts bymeans of aflatscrewdriver.Remove
brushesandcheck them:ifthegraphitehasalenghtshorterthan15mmoritisuneven,
replaceit.Closethemetalcontactsagainmakingsurethattheyadherewelltothemetal
partofthebrush.Finallyclosethemotorcoveragain.

Ifthebladeisnomoreabletocut(evenafterrepeatingthe
sharpeningoperationseveraltimes)itisnecessaryto replace
it.Tocarryoutthisoperation,usebutterflywrench“1”and
drift“3”lockingtheblade(showninpicture12).
Toreplacetheblade,proceedasfollows:
1) UsesomeprotectiveglovesincompliancewithItalian
LegislativeDecree 242 dated19 March1996 (useof
personalprotectiondevices);
2) Removethefixedrearsafetyprotection“A”(see picture
13)byunscrewingthecross-slottedscrew“C”and
thecross-slottedscrew“D”bymeans oftheproper
screwdriver(notsuppliedbythemanufacturer)and
byextractingwasher“E”asshowninpicture14.
Removethemobilefrontsafetyprotection“B”(see
picture13)byunscrewingpin“F”andremovingwasher
“G”asshowninpicture14.
3) Insertdrift“3”(see picture12)into hole“H”,soasto
lock theblade(theholeon theblademustcorrespond
to theoneonthestructure).
4) Usebutterflywrench“1”to unscrewnut“L”andremove
blade“M”(see picture15).
5) Replacethewornbladewiththenewone“2”,being
carefultocenterthebladeontheshaft,inthecorrect
position,andrememberto assembleitwiththeside
withthewritingRasorpositionedtowardstheexternal
sideofthecuttingunit.
6) Assembleall thecomponents againandcarryoutthe
sharpening.

Rasor®ElettromeccanicaS.r.l. cuttingunithasa12 monthwarrantyfromthedateindicated
onthelast pageof thismanual,exceptincaseof differentwrittenagreements.
Thewarrantycoversallmanufacturingandmaterialdefects.Replacementandrepairoperations
arecoveredonlyifcarriedoutbyourcompanyandatourworkshop.
Thematerialto berepairedmust besentCARRIAGEFREE.
Oncethemachinehasbeenrepaired,itwill besentCARRIAGEFORWARDto thecustomer.
Thewarrantycoversneithertechnicians'interventiononsitenorthemachinedisassembly
fromtheinstallationplace.
Ifforpracticalreasons,oneof ourtechnicians issentto thepremises,thecustomerwill be
chargedthecosts plus thetravellingexpenses.
Thewarrantydoesnot include:
+failurecausedbywronguseorassembly,
+failurecausedbyexternalagents,
+failurecausedbylack of maintenanceorneglicence;
+bladesandparts subjectto wear.
WARRANTYFORFEITURE:
+Incaseof arrearageorotherbreachesof contract,
+Wheneverchangesorrepairsarecarriedoutonourcuttingunits withoutourprior
authorization,
+Whenevertheserialnumberistamperedwithorcancelled,
+Wheneverthedamageiscausedbyimproperuse,badtreatment,bumps,fallsand
othercausesnot dueto normalworkingconditions,
+Whenevertheunitseemstamperedwith,dismantledorpreviouslyrepairedby
unauthorizedstaff,
+Incasethecuttingunits areusedforpurposesthataredifferentfromtheones
describedinthis manual.
All repair operations carriedoutunderwarrantydonotinterruptits duration.
All disputeswill be settledin thecourt ofjusticeofMilan(Italy).
