Foryourownsafety,followtheseinstructionsconcerningthemounting,startupandopera-
tionofthepositioner:
−Thepositioneristobemounted,starteduporoperatedonlybytrainedandexperienced
personnelfamiliarwiththeproduct.Accordingtothesemountingandoperatinginstruc-
tions,trainedpersonnelisreferredtoasindividualswhoareabletojudgetheworkthey
areassignedtoandrecognizepossibledangersduetotheirspecializedtraining,their
knowledgeandexperienceaswellastheirknowledgeoftheapplicablestandards.
−Explosion-protectedversionsofthispositioneraretobeoperatedonlybypersonnelwho
hasundergonespecialtrainingorinstructionsorwhoisauthorizedtoworkonexplosion-
protecteddevicesinhazardousareas.Refertosection9.
−Anyhazardsthatcouldbecausedinthevalvebytheprocessmedium,thesignalpres-
sureorbymovingpartsaretobepreventedbytakingappropriateprecautions.
−Ifinadmissiblemotionsorforcesareproducedinthepneumaticactuatorasaresultof
thesupplypressurelevel,itmustberestrictedusingasuitablesupplypressurereducing
station.
To avoid damage to any equipment, the following also applies:
−Propershippingandstorageareassumed.
−Donotgroundelectricweldingequipmentneartothepositioner.

Devices with a CE marking fulll the requirements of the Directives 2014/30/EU and
2011/65/EU and, depending on the version, 2014/34/EU as well.

Theelectropneumaticpositionerismounted
onpneumaticcontrolvalvesandisusedto
assignthevalveposition(controlledvari-
ablex)tothecontrolsignal(referencevari-
ablew).Thepositionercomparestheelectric
controlsignalofacontrolsystemtothetravel
ofthecontrolvalveandissuesasignalpres-
sure(outputvariabley)forthepneumatic
actuator.
Asupplypressurebetween1.4to6baris
required.Theelectricinputsignalisarefer-
encevariablebetween4to20mA.
Thepositionerisdesigneddependingonthe
correspondingaccessoriesfordirectattach-
menttoType3277Actuatorsorforattach-
menttoactuatorsaccordingtoIEC60534-6
(NAMUR).
Thepositionerconsistsofatravelsensorsys-
temproportionaltoresistance,ananalog
i/pconverterwithadownstreamaircapaci-
tyboosterandtheelectronicswithmicrocon-
troller.
Thepositionofthevalvestemistransmitted
asalineartravelmotionoverthepick-uple-
vertothetravelsensor(2)andsuppliedto
an analog PD controller (3). The PD control-
lercomparesthisactualvalvepositiontothe

minedbythereferencevariable.
Thesupplyairissuppliedtotheboosterand
thepressureregulator(8).Anintermediate
owregulator(9)withxedsettingsisused
topurgethepositionerand,atthesame
time,guaranteestrouble-freeoperationof
thebooster.Theoutputsignalpressuresup-
pliedbytheboostercanbelimitedbyacti-
vatingtheDIPswitchsettingS5 (4).
Thevolumerestriction(10)andtheswitchS6
areusedtooptimizethepositionerby
adaptingittotheactuatorsizeandchang-
ingthegainfactor.
Tight-closing function:
Afteractivatingthetight-closingfunction(re-
fertosection7.12),thepneumaticactuator
iscompletelylledwithairorventedassoon
asthereferencevariablefallsbeloworex-
ceedsthecorrespondingdeactivatingpoint
of4.5mAor19.5mA.

Onattachingthepositioner,itisimportantto
observetheassignmentbetweenleverand
pinpositionaccordingtothetravelslistedin
the travel tables.
Thetravelthatcanbeachievedatthevalve
isrestrictedbythepinpositionusedandad-
ditionallybytheselectedfail-safeactionand
therequiredactuatorspringcompression.
ThepositionerisequippedwiththeleverM
(pinposition35)asstandard.
Note:
If the standard mounted lever M (pin
position 35) is replaced, the newly
mounted lever must be moved once
all the way as far as it will go in both
directions to adapt it to the internal
measuring lever.

sitionershaftinpositionatthecap.The
lever(1)mustrestonthefollowerclamp
withspringforce.
Mountthepositioneronthecoverplate
(10)usingthetwoxingscrews.
6. Makesurethatthetipofthegasket(16)
projectingfromthesideoftheconnec-
tionblockispositionedtomatchtheac-
tuatorsymbolfortheactuator'sfail-safe
action"Actuatorstemextends"or"Actu-

unscrewthethreefasteningscrewsand
liftoffthecover.Turnthegasket(16)by
180°andre-insert.

Actuator sizes 2800cm² and 1400cm²
with 120mm travel:
For a travel of 60 mm or smaller,screw
thelongerfollowerplate(3.1)directlyto
thestemconnector(9).
For a travel exceeding 60mm,mount
thebracket(16)rstandthenthefollow-
erplate(3)tothebrackettogetherwith
thebolts(14)andscrews(14.1).
2. MountNAMURbracket(10)tothecon-
trolvalveasfollows:
For attachment to the NAMUR rib,use
anM8screw(11)andtoothedlock
washerdirectlyintheyokehole.
For attachment to valves with rod-type
yokes,usetwoU-bolts(15)aroundthe
yoke.AligntheNAMURbracket(10)ac-
cordingtotheembossedscalesothatthe
followerplate(3)isshiftedbyhalfthe
bracketrangetotheNAMURbracket
(theslotofthefollowerplateiscentrally
alignedwiththeNAMURbracketatmid
valvetravel).
