➀Rapid printing of up to 16 (AR-160/161) or 20 (AR-200S/200/205) pages per
minute
●The 133MHz high-speed RISC processor achieves fast printing of a maximum of 16 (AR-160/161) or 20
(AR-200S/200/205) pages per minute (A4 printed on one side).
➁Smoothing function ensures 1200dpi-equivalent, high-quality resolution
●The smoothing function allows high-resolution printing equivalent to 1200dpi. (Basic resolution is 600dpi or
300 dpi)
➂PCL6 compatible
●This printer is compatible with the printer control language PCL6 from Hewlett-Packard.
➃For use in network environments
●This printer can be used in a network environment by installing the optional Print Server Card.
➄Memory expansion to a maximum of 136MB
●The standard 8MB memory can be expanded up to 136MB by loading two extension DIMM slots with
commercially available memory modules (16MB, 32MB, or 64MB sizes). For detailed information, contact
your authorized SHARP service center.
➅Optional job separator tray
●If the optional job separator tray is installed, the printed copy is output on separate trays.

INTRODUCTION
The AR-PB8 Printer Expansion Kit adds printing capability to the AR-series digital copiers (AR-160/
161/200S/200/205). Note that this manual refers to any AR-series machine in which the AR-PB8
Printer Expansion Kit has been installes simply as the "printer".
This operation manual describes only printer features. For information about copier
functions, maintenance, and related topics, refer to the copier operation manual.

CONNECTINGTO A COMPUTER
There are two ways of using this printer with your computer:
● Connect the printer to the parallel port of an IBM PC/AT or compatible computer
● Use the printer in network environment *
* Requires the optional Print Server Card.
To connect this printer to your computer, you will need to obtain an interface cable or
network cable suitable for your computing environment.
Connecting the Parallel Interface Cable
1Obtain a parallel interface cable (general printer cable for IBM
PC/AT and compatible models).
●For its standards, refer to "Parallel Interface Specifications" (page 36).
2Confirm that the power to the printer and your computer is
switched off.
3Plug the appropriate end of the cable into the interface
connector on the printer and secure the clips on the sides of the
connector.
4Plug the other end of the cable into the parallel interface
connector of your computer.
The interface connector position of the computer differs between
computers. Refer to the manual of your computer.
Connecting to a Computer
