INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION AND USE
Important Safety Information - Please Read Carefully
Caution:
Always isolate from the mains electricity before installing orcarrying out
any maintenance to the top up system.
• Power to the top up system must be supplied through a Residual Current Device (RCD)
with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30mA.
• To ensure the top up system functions correctly, the IR sensors, the anti-siphon valve and the pump
must be cleaned regularly to ensure they do not become clogged or covered with debris or detritus.
• The IR sensor(s) must always be installed in an upright position with the power cable pointing upwards.
Failure to do so will result in operating problems and water overflowing from your sump or aquarium.
• Pump rating: 12Vdc unless otherwise marked.
• Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is malfunctioning, or if it has been
dropped or damaged in any way.
• This unit is designed to be used indoors and is not suitable for any outdoor applications.
• Ensure the Auto Top-up IR System is safely positioned before operating.
• Install the control unit outside of the aquarium cabinet when there is a sump present and away from
any area where it may get splashed with water.
• Always leave a drip-loop in the cables to prevent water running down the cable and reaching the power
source and controller (see below).
• Dispose of this unit responsibly. Check with your local authority for disposal information.

INTRODUCTION
In most aquarium systems the loss of water from the aquarium is mainly due to factors such as evaporation. If
evaporated water is not regularly replaced, problems can occur and the water quality of the aquarium may be
compromised. The Auto Top Up Compact System provides a simple and hassle-free solution to automatically top up
any water lost from the aquarium or sump through evaporation and to create an advanced professional set-up.
PARTSREQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION AND OPERATION
1. Residual current device (RCD) with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30mA.
ASSEMBLY
The Auto Top-up IR System is supplied almost fully
assembled. After unpacking and before installation you must:-
1. Ensure that the IR sensor guard is correctly secured on
the mounting bracket (see photo 1).
2. Connect components to the control unit (see photo 2 & 3).
3. Connect the black cable (IR water level monitoring sensor)
into the “Water Level Sensor” port.
4. Connect the white cable (IR water level monitoring safety
sensor) into the “Safety Sensor” port. (only on x 2 model)
5. Connect the pump to the “Pump” port.
Please Note: Always leave a drip-loop in all cables to
prevent water running down the cables and reaching the
control unit and power source.
6. Carefully cut the flexible top up hosing and install the
anti-siphon valve (see diagram below).

GENERALINSTALLATION
The Auto Top-up IR System is designed for simple installation internally in the aquarium orsump.
1. Ensure there is adequate space in the aquarium orsump to allow the IR sensor(s) and mounting bracket
to be correctly installed.
Please Note: The IR sensor(s) must always be installed in a vertical, upright position with the power
connection cable at the top (see photo 5).Failure to do so will result in operating problems and water
overflowing from yoursump or aquarium.
2. Install the IR sensor(s) at the desired water depth in your preferred location in youraquarium or sump,
ensuring that it is in a position where it will not be subject to excessive airbubbles or vigorous water movement.
Please Note: If you are using the system which incorporates two IR sensors, both must be positioned in the
aquarium or sump to ensure that the correct trigger signal will be sent when required (see photo 6).

3. Attach the IR sensor(s) to the side ofyour aquarium or sump using the magnet mount.
Please note: The magnets are extremely strong and the force with which they attract each othercould cause
serious injury if not handled correctly.Therefore please read and take note of the following guidelines:-
Caution: Never place your fingers orany other body part between the two halves of the magnet.
Caution: Always slide magnets together and apart (see photo 6) - do not allow magnets to slam together
as this could damage the magnets,the aquarium glass, and/or cause the magnets to chip or shatterwith
a possible risk of injury to the user.
4. Install the top up pump in yourdesired location e.g.sump or freshwater container, ensuring that it is
fully submerged and secured.
5. Attach the flexible top up hosing securing clamp to the side ofyour aquarium or sump and secure
by tightening the thumb screw.
6. Carefully cut the flexible top up hosing to the correct length so that it can be successfully threaded
through the top ofthe flexible top up hosing securing clamp without any kinks or sagging (see photo7).
7. Position the control unit in a dry area where it cannot fall into or be splashed by water.
8. Ensure that all connections have been made correctly and securely

9. Connect PSU to control unit, connect to mains and
switch on.
Please Note: We strongly recommend that you regularly
check the water parameters of your aquarium to ensure
optimum water quality.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The IR water level monitoring sensor (black cable) detects water level changes and sends a signal to the control unit
which will determine whether your water level is too high or too low, switching the pump on or off accordingly. If the
water level is too low, the control unit will switch on the pump, allowing water to be pumped into the aquarium or sump
until the level is restored, in turn, shutting off the pump.
LOW WATER LEVEL ALERT
When the water level in the aquarium or sump/freshwater container drops below the level of the IR water level
monitoring sensor, there will be a visual alert (flashing blue light) on the control unit. This blue light will continue to flash
until the water level rises to the normal water level or until the pump has run for 5 minutes.
AUTO CUT OFF (ONLY ON X 2 MODEL)
The IR water level monitoring safety sensor (white cable) will activate an auto cut off of the pump should the IR water
level monitoring sensor fail to switch the pump off. A visual alert (flashing red light) will be activated if the water level
is too high or low.
Switch power off and back on to reset.
RUN DRY ALERT
If the control unit detects the pump is running dry, it will shut off the pump.
Switch power off and back on to reset.
NORMAL WATER LEVEL
When the water level is normal, the control unit will display a constant blue light.

GENERAL OPERATION
1. Determine your ideal water level within your aquarium or sump.
2. Place the mounting bracket in a suitable position in the aquarium or sump.
3. Ensure all connections are secure.
4. Check on a daily basis to ensure the sump or freshwater container is not running low on water and top up as required.
5. Maintain regularly for continued, reliable operation.
6. When carrying out aquarium maintenance or acclimating animals in the aquarium, unplug the Auto Top UP
IR System to prevent any unwanted activation due to an altered aquarium/sump water level.
7. On a weekly basis (or more often in set-ups with high detritus levels or a refugium) ensure that the
IR sensors and anti-siphon valve are clean and free from any algae/bacteria growth or detritus
build up.
Please Note: The larger the surface area of the chamber or aquarium the Auto Top-up IR System
is installed in, a higher volume will be evaporated before the switch will be activated.
Ideally place the Auto Top-up IR System in the return pump chamber of a sump.

MAINTENANCE
Caution: To avoid possible electric shock,special care should be taken when using any electrical
appliance near water.
Caution: Always isolate the Auto Top-up IR Compact System from the mains electricity before
installing or carrying out any maintenance.
1. Check regularly to ensure that the IR sensors, anti-siphon valve and pump are clean and free of any dirt or detritus,
salt and/or calcium deposits. Please note: We highly recommend that this is checked at least once a week. Failure
to do so could result in operating problems and water overflowing from your sump or aquarium.
2. Regularly check to ensure all connections are tightly secured.
3. Test IR sensors by physically moving them in the water to ensure switch is operating correctly.
OTHER THAN RE-MINERALISERS, WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU ADD ANYTHING (such as KH, Calcium
or Magnesium supplements) TO THE RO CHAMBER IN YOUR AQUARIUM SET UP.
Precipitation of elements may damage the Auto Top UP IR System pump.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
Problem: Pump not activating with low water levels
1. Possible Cause: No power.
Solution: Check connections and ensure IR Sensors and pump are connected to the correct DC jacks.
Solution: Ensure IR Sensors are clean and working. Re-install in correct position, then turn off and on again.
Test components for correct activation. Check pump for damage or debris.
Problem: Pump constantly on
1. Possible cause: IR Sensor failure and or control unit error.
Solution: Ensure parts are clean and working. Re-install in correct position, then turn off and on again.
Test components for correct activation.
Problem: Pump activating with high water levels
1. Possible cause: Control unit error and/or IR sensor error.
Solution: Ensure parts are clean and working. Re-install in correct position, then turn off and on again.
Test components for correct activation.

Informação de segurança importante - Leia atentamente
• Isole sempre da alimentação eléctrica da rede antes de instalar ou de realizar qualquer trabalho de manutenção
no sistema Infravermelho de enchimento automático.
• A alimentação para o sistema Infravermelho de enchimento automático tem de ser fornecida através de um
dispositivo de corrente residual (RCD) com uma corrente de operação residual nominal não superior a 30 mA.
• Para garantir o funcionamento correto do sistema de reposição, os sensores de infravermelhos, a válvula anti-sifão
e a bomba têm de ser limpos regularmente para não ficarem obstruídos ou cobertos com resíduos ou detritos.
• O sensor IR sempre deve ser instalado na posição vertical, com o cabo de alimentação apontando para cima.
O não cumprimento destas instruções dará origem a problemas de funcionamento e ao extravasamento
da água do sump ou aquário.
• Especificação da bomba: 12 VCC salvo se marcado em contrário.
• Não utilize nenhum aparelho se apresentar danos no cabo ou na ficha, se estiver a funcionar mal ou se tiver caído
ou sofrido qualquer outro tipo de dano.
• Esta unidade foi concebida para ser utilizada em interiores e não é adequada para aplicações de exterior.
• Certifique-se de que o sistema Infravermelho de enchimento automático está posicionado de forma segura antes
de o utilizar.
• Instale a unidade de controle fora do armário do aquário quando houver um sump
e afastada de qualquer área onde possa ser salpicada com água.
• Deixe sempre um circuito de purga nos cabos para evitar que a água escorra pelo cabo e chegue à fonte de
alimentação (ver abaixo).
• Elimine esta unidade com responsabilidade. Informe-se junto das autoridades locais sobre como deve proceder
à eliminação.

Na maioria dos sistemas de aquário, a perda de água do aquário deve-se principalmente a factores como
a evaporação. Se a água evaporada não for regularmente substituída, podem ocorrer problemas e a qualidade
da água do aquário pode ficar comprometida. O sistema Infravermelho de enchimento automático proporciona uma
solução simples e descomplicada para repor automaticamente a água que se evaporou do aquário ou tanquee para
criar uma instalação profissional avançada.
PEÇASNECESSÁRIAS PARAINSTALAÇÃO EUTILIZAÇÃO
1. Dispositivo de corrente residual (RCD) com uma corrente de operação residual nominal não superior a 30 mA.
MONTAGEM
O sistema Infravermelho de enchimento automático é fornecido praticamente
montado. Depois de desembalar e antes da instalação tem de:
1. Verifique se a proteção do sensor de infravermelho está
corretamente presa no suporte de montagem (veja a foto 1)
2. Ligue os componentes à unidade Unidade de controle
(ver foto 2-3):
3. Ligue o cabo preto (sensor de monitorização do nível de
água por IV) na porta do “Sensor de Nível da Água”
4. Ligue o cabo branco (sensor de segurança de
monitorização do nível de água por IV) na porta do “Sensor
de Segurança”
5. Ligue a bomba à porta da “Bomba”. Deixe sempre os cabos
na forma de um loop para gotejamento para evitar que
a água escorra e atinja a unidade de controle e a fonte
de energia.
6. Ligar e fixar uma extremidade da mangueira de
reposição flexível à saída da bomba (ver foto 4).

INSTALAÇÃO GERAL
O sistema Infravermelho de enchimento automático foi concebido para instalação simples no interior do aquário
ou tanque.
1. Certifique-se de que o espaço é a dequado à volta do aquário ou do tanque para poder instalar
correctamente os sensores infravermelhos e o suporte de fixação.
Note que: Os sensores infravermelhos tem de ser sempre instalado numa posição vertical com o cabo de ligação
da alimentação em cima (ver foto 5). O não cumprimento destas instruções dará origem a problemas de
funcionamento e ao extravasamento da água do tanque ou aquário.
2. Instale os sensores infravermelhos à profundidade de água pretendida no local que preferir do seu aquário ou
tanque, certificando-se de que se encontra numa posição em que não estará exposto a bolhas de ar
excessivas ou a movimentos vigorosos da água.
Note que: Se estiver a usar o sistema Infravermelho de enchimento automático, que inclui dois interruptores
de bóia, ambos terão de estar posicionados no aquário ou tanque para assegurar o envio do sinal de disparo
correcto quando necessário (ver foto 6).

3. Ligue os sensores infravermelhos à parte lateral do aquário ou sump utilizando o suporte magnético.
Nota: Os ímanes são extremamente fortes e a força com que se atraem entre si pode provocar ferimentos
graves se não forem manuseados corretamente. Por conseguinte leia e tome nota das seguintes instruções:
Cuidado: Nunca coloque os dedos ou qualquer outra parte do corpo entre as duas metades do íman.
Cuidado: Para unir ou separar ímanes faça-o sempre deslizando-os (ver foto 7) - não deixe os ímanes
chocarem entre si porque isto pode danificar os ímanes, o vidro do aquário e/ou lascar ou partir os ímanes
com possível risco de ferimentos para o utilizador.
4. Instale a bomba de reposição no local pretendido, por exemplo, sump ou recipiente de água doce,
certificando-se de que está totalmente submersa e presa.
5. Ligue a braçadeira de fixação da mangueira de reposição flexível à parte lateral do aquário ou sump
apertando o parafuso de orelhas.
6. Corte cuidadosamente a mangueira de reposição flexível com o comprimento correto, de forma a poder ficar bem
roscada no topo da braçadeira de fixação da mangueira de reposição flexível, sem dobras ou abatimento (ver foto 8).
7. Posicioneaunidadeunidadede controle numazona secaonde não possacair dentrode água ouser salpicadacom água.
8. Certifique-se de que todas as ligações foram feitas corretamente e de que ficaram bem presas. Nota: O não cumprimento
destas instruções pode dar origem a problemas de funcionamento e ao extravasamento da água do sump ou aquário.
9. Ligue a PSU à unidade unidade de controle, ligue à rede elétrica e ligue o interruptor.
Note que: Recomendamos vivamente que verifique
regularmente os parâmetros da água do seu aquário
para garantir uma óptima qualidade da água.

PRINCÍPIO DE FUNCIONAMENTO
O sensor de monitorização do nível de água por IV (cabo preto) deteta alterações no nível de água e envia um sinal para
a unidade unidade de controle que determina se o nível de água está demasiado alto ou demasiado baixo, ligando
ou desligando a bomba em conformidade. Se o nível de água estiver demasiado baixo, a unidade unidade de controle
liga a bomba, permitindo que a água seja bombada para o aquário ou sump até à reposição do nível, o que, por sua vez,
desliga a bomba.
ALARME DE NÍVEL DE ÁGUA BAIXO
Quando o nível de água no aquário ou sump/recipiente de água doce desce abaixo do nível do sensor de monitorização
do nível de água por IV, aparece um alerta visual (luz azul intermitente) na unidade de controle. Esta luz
azul continuará a piscar até o nível de água subir para o nível normal ou até a bomba ter funcionado durante 5 minutos.
CORTE AUTOMÁTICO
O sensor de segurança de monitorização do nível de água por IV (cabo branco) ativa um corte automático da bomba
no caso de o sensor de monitorização do nível de água por IV não desligar a bomba. Um alerta visual (luz vermelha
intermitente) será ativado se o nível da água estiver muito alto ou baixo.
Para reiniciar, desligue e ligue o interruptor principal.
ALARME DE FUNCIONAMENTO A SECO
Se a unidade de controlo detectar que a bomba está a operar a seco, desligará a bomba.
Para reiniciar, desligue e ligue o interruptor principal.
NÍVEL DE ÁGUA NORMAL
Quando o nível de água está normal, a unidade unidade de controle apresenta uma luz azul constante.
