1. Important instructions
1.1. GENERAL WARNING
Read this general warning first.
In confined space operations, safety is a matter of life or death for operators and
bystanders. This warning is your share of duties for achieving overall safety.
1.1.1. YOUR DUTY TO UNDERSTAND AND COMPLY.
1) Before using the Davimast™, it is essential that the supervisor and operator read and review,
and understood the operating manuals of Davimast™ and each associated accessory provided
by Tractel
®
. To ensure safe and effective use of the equipment of the Davimast™ and related
accessories. All manuals related to the equipment being used must be made available at all
times to all operators.
2) These manuals should be available at all times to all users. Keep these instructions handy for
easy reference whenever required. Extra copies are available from Tractel®.
3) Before using this safety equipment, it is essential that users are trained in its use. Check the
condition of the product and associated equipment and ensure there is enough vertical
clearance.
4) Never operate the equipment if any warning, operating or capacity instructions affixed to the
device are obscured or missing. In such case contact Tractel for the supply of labels or
exchange of the unit (for stamped instructions) under commercial conditions.
5) The product may only be used by trained and skilled operators or by operators under the
oversight of a competent person being fully aware of the applicable safety regulations and
requirements of federal, state, provincial, and local safety regulations not only applicable to the
Davimast™, but also to the entire confined space system or any component of it.
6) Equipment associated with the use of Davimast™, must comply with applicable safety
regulations, local, state, federal and regional. Tractel denies liability for any incident due to non-
compliance of components not sold or not recommended by Tractel.
7) No modification or addition may be made to the equipment without prior written approval from
Tractel. The equipment must be transported and stored in its original packaging.
8) The Davimast™ and attached equipment should not be used beyond its limits or in any situation
other than that for which it is designed: see “4. Functions and description.”
9) Never load the Davimast™ or components above their rated load.
10) This product is suitable for use in a temperature range from -31°F to +140°F. (-35°C to +60°C).

1.1.2. YOUR DUTY TO INSPECT AND MAINTAIN.
1) A visual inspection is required before each use; the operator must make sure that each
component is in good working order, in particular by inspecting the condition and presence of
the mast rotation ring on the mast. When it is put in place, the safety functions must not have
deteriorated in any way.
2) The product may not be used before an inspection by Tractel or by an authorized and trained
technician, who must first authorize the reuse of the system in writing, if:
i. it is not in a visibly good condition,
ii. Its safety is in doubt,
iii. it has been used to arrest a fall,
iv. it has not undergone a periodic inspection in the course of the previous 12 months; user
safety depends on the proper maintenance of the efficiency and strength of the equipment.
3) The manufacturer declines any responsibility for consequences of repairs or modifications
brought out of its control to the product, especially by replacement of original parts or repairs
by another manufacturer.
4) Except for the operations described in this manual, the maintenance of Tractel Ltd. Equipment
as well as repair must be exclusively done by an authorized (written approval) service center or
by Tractel.
1.1.3. YOUR DUTY TO TRAIN AND CONTROL PEOPLE.
1) Do not use the Davimast™ system and components unless properly trained on the system.
2) Before operating, a worker should be:
i. mentally and physically fit for the purpose, especially at heights or in confined spaces;
ii. free from the influence of alcohol or drugs;
iii. competent for the job to be performed;
iv. familiar with the equipment and all applicable safety rules, regulations, and requirements;
v. trained under safe conditions, for working under the above requirements.
3) Wear appropriate protective gear including, but not limited to: a hard hat, heavy gloves, safety
glasses, safety shoes with slip-resistant soles, and protective clothing.
4) Never exceed allowable capacity of your fall protection equipment.
5) Never exceed maximum free fall distance of your fall protection equipment.
6) Training workers includes setting up rescue procedures should a fall occur during a job prior to
putting the systems into operation. A qualified person or technical consultant according to work
conditions must set up such procedures.
7) Comply with locally applicable labor regulations.
1.1.4. YOUR DUTY TO AVOID TAKING CHANCES.
1) If the weight of the operator plus that of their equipment is between 220 lb. (100 kg) and 310 lb.
(140 kg), it is essential to make sure that the total weight does not exceed the safe working load
of each component of the fall arrest system.
2) This equipment should not be used beyond its limits or in any situation other than that for which
it is designed: see Section “4. Functions and description”.
3) This system is man rated. It must only be used in conjunction with personal fall arrest equipment
that limits the average arresting force to 400daN (900lbs).
4) Before each use of a fall arrest system, make sure that there is adequate vertical clearance and
that there are no obstacles in the path of the fall.
5) A full body harness in accordance with ANSI Z359.18-2017 and CSA Z259.15-17 is the only
equipment around the body that may be used in a fall arrest system; secure it to the dorsal D-
ring of the harness.
6) It is essential for operator safety that the device or anchor point is correctly positioned and that
work is carried out so as to minimize the risk of falls.
7) For operator safety, the dealer must supply the following if the product is resold instruction
manual and maintenance instructions for periodic inspections and repairs, all drafted in the
language of the country of use of the product.

8) This system is rated for a maximum of 2 users weighing a maximum of 140kg (310lbs) each
including all equipment and accessories.
9) In addition to fall protection equipment, it is essential for the safety of the operator and
supervisor that they use personal protective equipment such as helmets, safety glasses, gloves,
and safety shoes when handling and using this product.
10) The product may only be used with the associated equipment described in this manual (see
chapter 7. Associated equipment).
11) This product may only be used in the presence of at least two operators.
12) Do not use more than two associated pieces of equipment on the product at the same time.
13) Follow the combinations of associated equipment permitted in this manual.
14) Davimast™ is to be used either as a material hoist or for fall arrest and rescue solutions only.
Do not use for both material handling and man-rated application at the same time.
15) Danger While using several pieces of equipment where the safety function of one may affect or
interfere with the safety function of another.
16) Tractel Ltd. declines any responsibility for the consequences of dismantling or altering the
components of the Davimast™ beyond the description in this manual.
17) Once the Davimast™ is in operation it is imperative not to release, remove, alter or obstruct any
part of the equipment under load.
18) For any job to be performed on the Davimast™, consider and control the specific risks related
to the nature of the job.
19) Safety depends on the safe conditions of the Davimast™ and the attached components. Never
clamp, knot, or prevent the wire rope from coiling properly or being taut. Do not allow twists to
form in the wire rope to prevent proper coiling. Never allow twisted wire rope to create slack
conditions and load the system dynamically.
20) Should you decide that the Davimast™ is no longer to be used, take precautions in disposing
of it so that it cannot be used anymore.
21) Tractel declines any responsibility for any special rigging or structural combinations beyond the
descriptions of this manual.
22) Tractel declines any responsibility for any other use of the Davimast™ than described in this
manual.
23) Do not mix and match other components. Only use configurations and components as shown
in this manual.
24) The supporting structure is required to withstand every load to be applied, either static or
dynamic, during rigging or operating the Davimast™
25) Only bases, equipment and accessories supplied or approved by Tractel shall be used with this
system.
Always concerned to improve the quality of its products, the Tractel® Group reserves the right to
modify the specifications of the equipment described in this manual.
2. Definitions and symbols
2.1. Definitions
“Product”: Item described in this manual in the various models available.
“Supervisor”: Individual or department responsible for the management and safe use of the product
described in the manual.
“Technician”: Qualified individual responsible for the maintenance operations described and
permitted in the manual, who is trained and familiar with the product.
“Operator”: Individual using the product for its intended purpose.
“PPE”: Personal protective equipment against falls from height.
“Connector”: Element connecting the components of a fall arrest system. It complies with standard
ANSI Z359.18-2017 and CSA Z259.15-17.

“Full body harness”: Device worn around the body for fall protection. It consists of straps and
buckles. It features fall protection attachment points marked with an A if they may be used alone,
or marked with A/2 if they are to be used in combination with another A/2 point. It complies with
standard ANSI Z359.18-2017 and CSA Z259.15-17.
“Self-retracting fall protection”: Fall protection with an automatic locking function and a tensioning
and self- retracting system.
“Self-retracting lifeline”: Connecting element of a self-retracting fall protection system. It may be
made of metal cable, strapping or synthetic fibre depending on the type of device.
“Maximum operator weight”: maximum weight of the clothed operator, wearing PPE and workwear
and carrying the tools and parts required for job.
“Safe working load”: maximum allowed lifting load of an equipment.
“Fall-arrest system”: Assembly made up of the following items:
– Anchoring device.
– Linking component.
– Fall protection.
– Full body harness.
2.2. Symbols

3. Operations
3.1. Verifications before use
WARNING
Before any installation work, the installer must have
read and understood
this manual
.
Before inserting the Davimast™ in a Tractel® Davitrac™, Davitrac™+ and Davimast™ base, check
that:
•The product marking is present and legible;
•The product is in a visibly good condition, free from marks, impacts or deformation. If not, do
not use it and inform the supervisor;
•The Davimast™ base is a Tractel® Davitrac™, Davitrac™+ and Davimast™ base and that it
is in good condition and adequately installed to the structure. It must be cleaned thoroughly
on the inside and must not be deformed;

•The Davimast™ rotation ring fitted at the bottom of the mast is in good condition before
inserting it into a Davitrac™, Davitrac™+ and Davimast™ base; and
•All the pins are present, and that they are not deformed or corroded. All pins must be locked
by locking pins.
Before starting on the work, the installer must organise the job so that installation work is carried
out under the required safety conditions, and particularly in accordance with labour regulations. He
must use the collective and/or personal protective equipment required for that purpose.
After inserting the Davimast™ in a Tractel® Davitrac™, Davitrac™+ and Davimast™ base, check
that:
•The mast rotates freely in the base plate before locking it in place using a pin with a locking
pin;
•The associated equipment is in good condition;
•The brackets and equipment mounted on the Davimast™ are in good condition; they must
not be deformed, cracked or corroded; and
•The Davimast™ mast is locked rotationally in its base plate by means of the pin with a locking
pin.
If in doubt, do not use the product and inform the supervisor.
WARNING
Mounted floor and flush floor bases may only be installed on horizontal surfaces. Wall mounted
and clearance mural bases may only be installed on vertical surfaces. Refer to the Tractel®
“Davitrac™+, Davitrac™ and Davimast™ permanent bases” manual. For all other applications,
please contact Tractel®.
4. Functions and description
When used along with a mounted floor adapter, a wall mounted adapter, and clearance mural
adapter or flush floor adapter, the Davimast™ mast may be used in combination with one of the
following brackets:
Rotating double anchor point bracket:
•Two anchor points, one operator per point coupled with a fall arrest system
Blocfor® bracket:
•One anchor point for one operator coupled with a fall arrest system
•One special anchor point for elevation rescue devices Tractel® Blocfor®
Tractel work winch bracket:
•One anchor point for one operator coupled with a fall arrest system.
•One special anchor point for material lifting. The maximum material lifting capacity is 500 lbs
(225kg)
The Davimast™ allows access to confined spaces, wells, silos, sewers, etc.
NOTICE
1 operator can always secure him/herself on the anchor point on the pivot plates on the back of
the
Davitrac™
no matter the configuration.
NOTICE
The anchor points for fall arrest system are for 1 operator with a maximum weight of 310lb.
(140kg). The average arrest force of the fall arrest device must be limited to a maximum of 900lb.
(400daN).

4.1. Davimast™ with its different bases
There are 4 base models (see page 3 – fig. 2):
•Floor mounted base
•Flush floor base
•Wall mounted base
•Clearance mural base
4.2. Recommendation for use
CAUTION
Under no circumstances may the floor mounted, wall mounted and clearance mural bases be
used as fall arrest anchor points when the Davimast™ is installed inside one of them. It is
imperative that once the Davimast™ is installed and locked into one of the mentioned permanent
bases, the only anchor points allowed are those on the
Davi
mast™
bracket.
WARNING
Each of these anchor points are identified by a label that mentions its only possible and permitted
use: it is crucial to follow the instructions on such labels.
NOTICE
Davimast™
is not designed and intended for platform suspension application.
4.2.1. Davimast™ with PPE double anchor bracket
The Davimast™ is designed to receive a 310 lbs (140 kg) PPE double anchor point bracket with
360° rotation for:
•Two operators each weighing 310 lbs (140 kg);
•A temporary lifeline with an impact in case of a fall not exceeding 1300 lbs (6kN) at the end
and with a minimum anchor breaking strength of 2600 lbs (12 kN) (page 6 fig. 6).
This assembly (base, Davimast™ and bracket) meets the requirements of:
•ANSI Z359.1-2007; ANSI A10.32-2004; OSHA 1926;
•Is manufactured in accordance with CSA Z259.13-2004.
4.2.2. Davimast™ with Blocfor® bi-directional retrieval lifeline and bracket
The Davimast™ is designed to receive a blocfor® bi-directional retrieval lifeline and bracket fitted
with:
•A Blocfor® R with a lifting rescue device 50 ft or 100 ft (15 m or 30m); and
•A 310lbs (140 kg) PPE anchor.
This assembly (base, Davimast™, bracket and Blocfor®):
•meets or exceeds standards and requirements established by ANSI Z359.1-2007 & A10.32-
2004; OSHA 1910 & 1926;
•Is manufactured in accordance with CSA Z259.13-2004 & Z259.16-2004

The 310 lbs (150 kg) PPE anchor point on the bracket can be used by one operator while another
operator is secured by the Blocfor® bi-directional retrieval lifeline.
The Davimast™ can receive, on its PPE anchor points, rescue lifting devices, fall arresters and
descender devices that:
•Meets or exceeds standards and requirements established by ANSI Z359.1-2007 & A10.32-
2004, OSHA 1910 & 1926
•Is manufactured in accordance with CSA Z259.13-2004 & Z259.16-2004
4.2.3. Davimast™ with work winch bracket for lifting equipment
The Davimast™ is designed to receive a Tractel® work winch bracket fitted with:
•A Tractel® work winch with a wire ripe of 80 ft (24 m) and material lifting max SWL of 500lbs
(225kg)
•A 310 lbs (140 kg) PPE anchor.
This assembly (base, Davimast™, bracket and Tractel® work winch):
•meets or exceeds standards and requirements established by ANSI Z359.1-2007 & A10.32-
2004; OSHA 1910 & 1926;
•Is manufactured in accordance with CSA Z259.13-2004 & Z259.16-2004

4.3. Description of systems compatible with the Davimast™
Before using the Davimast™, the operator must have and review the operating manuals of the
Davimast™ and each associated accessory.
4.3.1. 310 lbs (140 kg) PPE double anchor bracket with 360° rotation
The 310 lbs (140 kg) PPE double anchor bracket with 360° rotation is compliant with ANSI, OHSA
and CSA. Each anchor point is certified for a 310 lbs (140 kg) operator. Each anchor point can be
rotated around the Davimast™ axis.
One of the two anchor points on this bracket can be used as a lifeline anchor point. It is compulsory
to ensure that the structure has a minimum resistance strength greater than 2600 lbs (12 kN),
including any safety coefficient.
4.3.2. Blocfor® R bi directional retrieval lifeline and bracket
It is supplied with its bracket and instructions, and is fastened to the Davimast™. The Blocfor® is a
bi directional retrieval lifeline with a rescue lifting system.
In the event of a fall, the operator is stopped by a safety ratchet mechanism. Blocfor® bi-directional
retrieval lifeline devices are equipped with a manual hoist to allow the rescuer to raise or lower the
fallen operator.
Blocfor® bi-directional retrieval lifeline devices are not suitable for handling and securing loads.
The Blocfor® bi-directional retrieval lifeline bracket is equipped with an 310lbs (140kg) anchor point
for securing one operator on the surface.
4.3.3. Tractel® work winch with bracket
Supplied with its bracket and instructions. The Tractel® work winch is used for lifting loads. With its
independent braking systems, it offers high operating safety. The Tractel® work winch is mounted
on its Davimast™ bracket.
