MODEL V8612H TAMPERPROOF CEILING-MOUNTED HOUSING

and V8612H-ACP is an adjustable ceiling panel which

2.1 Ceiling Preparation

NOTES:
1. The V8612H may be installed in a suspended
ceiling either by cutting an appropriate hole
in an existing tile or by using one of the
ceiling panel options sold for the housing.
The instructions below apply to the use of an
existing ceiling tile or the V8612H-CP. For
detailed instructions on installation of the
adjustable ceiling ,panel, model V8612H;
ACP, refer to the instruction manual pro-
vided with that,model.
2. Total weight of camerallens combination
should not exceed 20 pounds (9.1 kg)
when installing with the V8612H-CP or
V8612H-ACP If an existing ceiling tile is
going to be used, the maximum load will be
determined by the strength of the tile.
1. If au existing ceiling tile is to be cut for the V8612H,
cut and drill the tile according to Figure 2.
2. Unlock the cover using the key provided and mount
the housing to the ceiling tile or V8612H-CP

3. Insert the supplied grommets into the appropriate
cutouts.
4. Assemble and adjust camera and lens as described
in the camera/lens instruction manuals.
NOTE: Extend the camera lens fully when posi-
tioning the camera in the housing (shortest focusing
distance yields the greatestphysical extension). This
prevents interference between the lens and the hous-
ing window when the camera is in use.
5. Mount the camera on the mounting bracket using a
l/4-20 screw and lockwasher.
6. Lift the unit (housing on ceiling panel) up to the
ceiling. Position the unit in the ceiling and thread
the cables through the cable openings in the
housing.

7. Connect the video and electrical cables and energize
the camera.
8. Assemble and position the installation gauge in the
housing. Tape the gauge to the ceiling to provide a
reference plane for lens positioning.
9. Observe the scene on a monitor and adjust the
camera mounting bracket for the desired viewing
angle. Use the gauge as a guide to lens position.
NOTE: For detailed information on camera con-
nections and adjustments, refer to the appropriate
camera instruction manual.
10. Check all hardware for tightness. Close and lock the
cover.
11. Cover the adjustment slots on the sides of the hous-
ing with a piece of duct tape to protect the housing
from dust entry.

2.3 Permanent Ceiling Installation
NOTE: Total weight of camerallens combination

Place the opened housing flush against the ceiling
and point the housing in the desired viewing direc-
tion.
Mark and cut hole in the ceiling using the top, center
section of the housing itself as a template. Exact
dimensions are shown in Figure 2.
Insert the housing into the cut hole and use au awl
or other pointed object to identify the six (6) mount-
ing holes. Remove the housing and drill six holes in
the ceiling.
Insert the supplied grommets into the appropriate
cutouts or thread the cables through the 7/84nch
opening.
Mount the housing using six (6) hollow-wall an-
chors with screws or toggle bolts.
Assemble and adjust camera and lens as described
in the camera/lens instruction manuals.
7. Mount the cameraonto the mounting plate using the
screw and lockwasher provided.
8. Assemble and position the installation gauge in the
housing. Tape the gauge to the ceiling to provide a
reference plane for lens positioning.
9. Connect the video and electrical cables and energize
the camera. Use the gauge as a guide to adjust the
lens position.
10. Observe the scene on a monitor and adjust the
camera mounting bracket for the desired viewing
angle.

camera instruction manual.

3. MAINTENANCE
The V86 12H requires no regular maintenance other than
an occasional cleaning of the window. Use mild soap
and water or a nonabrasive plastic window cleaner.
