1 System Presentation
1.1 Brief Description IndraControl VEP **.4
1.1.1 General Information
The IndraControl VEP 30.4, VEP 40.4 und VEP 50.4 Embedded Terminal are
PC-based machine operator terminals. Depending on the application or con‐
figuration, the operator terminal can also fulfill control functionalities.
In this documentation the IndraControl VEP 30.4, VEP 40.4 and
VEP 50.4 are named as IndraControl VEP **.4.
1.1.2 Variants IndraControl VEP **.4
Processor variants IndraControl VEP **.4 devices are available with two different processor var‐
iants. The devices feature either Intel Pentium M 600 or 1 GHz processors or
Intel Z510 ATOM processors.
As the devices differ in design and operation, the captions of this documentation
indicate for which device and processor combination the chapter is applicable.
ATOM or Pentium M are used to distinguish the variants!
They are distinguished in the type designation code as follows:

Touch Screen The front panel with touch screen consists of a 5 mm thick aluminium panel
with beveled edges covered by a chemical resistant polyester foil. The appli‐
cation software is operated via the touch-sensitive interface of the display.
Touch screen and foil keyboard The front panel with foil keyboard and touch screen consists of a 5 mm thick
aluminium panel with beveled edges covered by a chemical resistant polyester
foil with embossed keys. Machine functions keys (M-keys) are integrated in the
application-oriented function keyboard. The application software is operated via
the keys or the touch-sensitive interface of the display.
1.1.3 Variants of Pentium M Devices
The Embedded Terminals IndraControl VEP **.4 are available in different var‐
iants. They differ in the display size as well as in the design of the PC Box and
the housing.
