USE
This equipment should be used only by trained and competent persons. Otherwise the user should be under the
direct supervision of a trained and competent person. This notice will not teach you the techniques for work at

path. A full body harness is the only acceptable body holding device that can be used in a fall arrest system. The

Summary
This product is intended for use to protect and prevent against risks of falling from above in industry, in construction
work, in rescue and, more generally, for any application of work at a height.

performance requisites for fall factor 2 (tested in compliance with EN 355:2002 point 4.4).
Use
During user movement, the webbing [2] winds and unwinds on a reel inside the retractable device [1]. The webbing
is held constantly under tension by a re-winder spring. In the case of a fall, a mechanism locks the webbing and
VWRSVWKHIDOO7KHGHYLFHLVƬWWHGZLWKDQLQWHUQDOVKRFNDEVRUEHU[3] that reduces the braking force (<6 kN). Each
time you use the device, check the locking function by pulling hard on the webbing. Do not release the webbing
suddenly: guide it back by hand on to the re-winder reel inside the device. Check that the cable unwinds and rewinds
freely, with no obstruction. The swivel device [4] must be connected to a structural attachment point by means
of a connector EN 362 The anchor point must be in compliance with the EN795 standard and/or known to have

The maximum admissible load is 100 kg. In order to evaluate the hazard level of a work situation, the Fall Factor is

attachment point above the user is to be preferred, in order to reduce the fall distance and hence ensure greater
safety. (ƬJ). The connector-retractable fall arrester-connector system must never exceed a length of 2 m (with
the webbing completely extended) (ƬJ).
Use as to EN 360 (fall factor 0)
The structural attachment point to which the device is connected must be above the user (fall factor 0). To avoid any

where the webbing [2] could contact a sharp edge. Rescue equipment and trained rescue workers are required for

intervention in the case of a fall.

Use
The length of the connector must be taken into consideration when it is used with a fall arrester system because

corresponds to basic connectors. The main material of the connector is steel. Correct connection of the connector
is indicated in ƬJ. The user of a manual closing connector must avoid disconnecting it many times in the same
work session. For connection to an anchor point or a subsystem, always check the correct alignment along the
PDMRUD[LVƬJ$QFKRULQJRIWKHV\VWHPPXVWEHSUHIHUDEO\ORFDWHGDERYHWKHXVHUoVSRVLWLRQDQGPXVWKDYH
resistance in conformity with standard EN 795 (ƬJ). Attention: some situations can reduce the resistance of the
connector. Any positioning that stresses the connector lever (for example with a descender) is dangerous (ƬJ). A
connector loses more than half of its resistance when the lever is open (see table C). Check for correct operation
of the lever closing before use:
• the return of the lever against the connector body when closing. During the check, the lever must be released
slowly in order to neutralise the action of the spring.
• operation of the lever closing device. You must be able to tighten and loosen the screw all the way. A connector
with partial locking must not be used.
In some aggressive environments (mud, sand, paint, ice, dirty water...), movement may not work correctly. In this
case, after cleaning, lubricate the lever mechanism with silicone-based lubricant. Note: cleaning and lubrication are
recommended after each use in a marine environment. If the defect persists after lubrication, the connection must
be retired from service.
CHECKING AND MAINTENANCE – COBRA 2
