The MPA−F valveterminals described in this manual arein
tended for fitting into amachineor automated system. The
user must at all times observethe safety regulationsspeci
fied in this manual as well as the instructionsconcerning the
designated use of the relevant MPA−F valveterminal. The
MPA−F valveterminals may only beused as follows:

1.1 The MPA−F valve terminal
Festo supportsyour machinetable automation taskswiththe
MPA−F valveterminal. The modular design of this valveter
minal allows you to optimally customizethe valveterminal to
suit your machineor plant.
The pneumatic valveterminal provides the following connec
tions:
Common channels for supply and exhaust air
Electric signals for all solenoid coils
Working lines (2) and (4) areprovided for each valveposition
on the individual pneumatic modules. The valves aresupplied
withcompressed air (operating pressureand pilot pressure)
via the common channels and connectionsin the basic com
ponents. The exhaust air (fromthe valves and the pilot ex
haust air) is also exhausted via these common channels.
Further modules for pressuresupply arealso available, e.g.
in order to supply pressurezones.
The valveterminal is fitted withcurrent reduction.The rated
current of the solenoid coils is reduced after the high−current
phase (switching operation).The current reduction offersthe
following advantages:
The valveterminal has alower energy consumption
The power supply unit for the voltagesupply to the valve
terminal can bedesigned moreeconomically depending
on the individual case
The solenoid coils haveless leakagepower and produce
less wasteheat
