HYCO MIRAGE PANEL CONVECTOR HEATER
1. INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the Mirage Panel Convector Heater from Hyco Manufacturing Ltd.
The compact panel heaters come in two versions – standard and timer (complete with a 24hr
mechanical timer). Please read and understand these instructions before commencing installation, and
leave them with the user when installation is complete.
Do not proceed with installation or operation if there is sign of any damage to the product.

2. IMPORTANT SAFETY POINTS
THE ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY A
QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CURRENT
EDITION OF THE I.EE WIRING REGULATIONS.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION MUST BE MADE TO THE FIXED WIRING OF THE PROPERTY
BY MEANS OF A CONNECTION BOX.THE INSTALLATION MUST BE FITTED WITH A
DOUBLE POLE ISOLATING SWITCH,WITH A BREAK CONTACT DISTANCE OF AT
LEAST 3MM.
ONLY CONNECT THE HEATER TO A SINGLE PHASE SUPPLY WITH A MAINS VOLTAGE AS
SPECIFIED ON THE RATING PLATE.
THE HEATER MUST NOT BE LOCATED IMMEDIATELY BELOW A SOCKET OUTLET.
IF THE CORD OF THIS APPLIANCE IS DAMAGED, DISCONTINUE USE OF THIS PRODUCT
AND CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS.
DO NOT CARRY THE APPLIANCE BY HOLDING THE POWER CORD.
ALWAYS SWITCH OFF THE APPLIANCE WHEN NOT IN USE.
DO NOT LET THE POWER CORD HANG OVER THE APPLIANCE.
DO NOT LET ANIMALS OR CHILDREN TOUCH OR PLAY WITH THE PANEL HEATER.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE HOT AIR OUTLET GETS VERY HOT DURING OPERATION.
THE MIRAGE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR OUTDOOR USE.
DO NOT COVER THE HEATER AS THIS MAY CAUSE OVERHEATING.
3. INSTALLATION
The installation, electrical connection and rst operation of this appliance should be carried out by a
qualied installer.
• The Mirage Panel Heater is to be wall mounted in the upright position using the bracket supplied.
• The bracket should be mounted at the required height using appropriate xings (see g 1).
• On the back side of the heater there are 4 slots, these should be hooked onto the wall bracket and
pushed down (see g 2 and g 3).
• The bracket can then be secured by means of the locking screw provided.

4. OPERATION (SEE FIGURES 4,5,AND 6)
• Remove screw and open cover (1)
• The unit may be switched on (setting I) or off (setting O) by
using the switch (2) on the right hand side panel.
• Turn the temperature selector (3) clockwise to select the
required temperature.The heater will warm the room uniformly
and quickly.Air enters the heater from below where it is
heated and then exits through the grid at the top of the heater.
The thermostat switches the heater off once the set
temperature has been reached and switches on and off
intermittently to maintain the required temperature.

Anti-frost setting
Set the temperature selector (3) to * (Anti-frost position).The thermostat will switch the heater on
automatically if the room temperature drops below approx +5°C.
Timer setting (T version only)
The 24 hour timer (4) overrides the heat switches and thermostat.

setting : no timer function and cut off of power supply
• If you do not wish to use the timer function slide switch on timer to I position and you can manually
operate the unit.
• The timer’s rotating face acts like a 24 hour clock. The number 12 is 12pm Noon and the number
24 represents 12am Midnight. Rotate the clock face clockwise, until the correct time is aligned
with the indicator arrow at the top.When you want the heater to switch ON, push the
corresponding segment towards the centre. Each segment represents approximately 15 minutes.

4. OPERATION (CONTINUED)
• When power is switched OFF or during a power failure, the timer will stop functioning.
The correct time must be reset when power is restored.
• The clock face turns CLOCKWISE ONLY. Forcing the clock face in the other direction will destroy
timing gears and void the product warranty.
5. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
• Before cleaning, ensure the heater is unplugged and that it has cooled completely.
• Wipe the exterior of the radiator with a dry cloth or sponge.
• The heater should be cleaned regularly as a build up of dust can decrease its efciency.

The Mirage Panel Convector Heater is supplied with a standard 1 year replacement warranty that
protect against any manufacturing defects within 12 months of the original purchase date. In the event
of a product failure please contact Hyco on 01977 517555. Incidental or consequential damages are
excluded from this warranty.
