1.INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the Hyco Sun King Outdoor Quartz Heater.
This heater uses radiant heat to warm objects and people directly,making it
ideal for draughty,hard-to-heat situations such as workshops,warehouses,patios
and outdoor smoking areas.Because the heater is splash proof to IP55 it can be
fitted outside,but remember that any sockets and wiring must also be suitable
for outdoor use.An RCD circuit breaker is strongly recommended.Please read
and understand these instructions before commencing installation,and leave them
with the user when installation is complete.
2.SAFETY
The installation must be carried out by a competent person in accordance with
current Building Regulations.The Electrical Installation must be carried out by a
qualified electrician in accordance with the current edition of the I.E.E.Wiring
Regulations.
CAUTION
ONLY CONNECTTHE HEATERTOA SINGLE PHASE SUPPLY
WITHA MAINSVOLTAGEAS SPECIFIED ONTHE RATING PLATE.
THE HEATER MUST BE POSITIONEDATA MINIMUM HEIGHT OF
2.5MANDATA DISTANCE OFAT LEAST 1.5M FROMTHE NEAREST
OBJECTTHATWOULD BE EXPOSEDTO HEAT RADIATIONAND
O.5M FROMTHE CEILING.
THE HEATER IS NOT SUITABLE FOR USE ON HIGHLY FLAMMABLE
SURFACES.
THE HEATER MUST BE MOUNTED ONTOA SOLID SURFACE.
IFTHE CORD OFTHISAPPLIANCE IS DAMAGED,DISCONTINUE USE
OFTHIS PRODUCTAND CONTACTTHE MANUFACTURER FOR
FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS.
DO NOT CARRYTHEAPPLIANCE BY HOLDINGTHE POWER CORD.
DO NOT LETANIMALS OR CHILDRENTOUCH OR PLAYWITHTHE
HEATER.PLEASE NOTETHATTHE HEATER GETSVERY HOT DURING
OPERATION.
DO NOT COVERTHE HEATERASTHIS MAY CAUSE OVERHEATING.
TAKE PARTICULAR CAREWITH MOVEABLE ITEMS SUCHAS
CURTAINS.

OR IFTHE SAFETY SHIELD IS CRACKED/BROKEN.
3.INSTALLATION
When choosing the location for mounting the quartz heater,ensure that you have
followed the safety instructions and recommendations.
a. Securely fasten the "L" shaped bracket either directly to the chosen mounting
surface or via the separate mounting plate provided (optional) - ensuring that
all the safety instructions in Section 1 are followed.
b. The bracket should be mounted (ideally with the aid of a spirit level) so that
the emitter is no more than 4° from the horizontal (as viewed from the front
of the heater).
c. The bracket should be mounted to the chosen surface using appropriate
fixings (not supplied with the unit).
d. The heater should then be re-fitted to the bracket and secured into place by
tightening the fixings supplied.
4.ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
a. If the socket used is located outdoors,ensure that it has the correct IP rating
for outdoor use.
b. Alternatively,the electrical connection can be made to the fixed wiring of the
property by means of a switched fused spur (with 13A fuse).The cores in the
power lead are coloured in accordance with the I.E.E.Wiring Regulations:
Singe Phase Live:Brown
Neutral (N):Blue
Protective Earth:Green/Yellow striped
c. When fitting/replacing the quartz lamp,do not touch the lamp with bare
hands.Use a soft cloth /tissue to hold the lamp.The lamp holder is spring
loaded.Fit the lamp into one side and push,then fit the opposite end of the
lamp into the holder.
DO NOTATTEMPTTOADJUST ORTOUCHTHE HEATER UNTIL IT
HAS COOLED DOWNANDTHE POWER IS DISCONNECTED.

5.CLEANINGAND MAINTENANCE
a. Before cleaning,ensure the heater is disconnected from the power and that it
has cooled completely.
b. Wipe the exterior of the heater with a damp cloth.
c. Do not use abrasives or chemical cleaners to clean the heater.
d. If the interior requires cleaning,use a soft,dry lint free cloth taking care not to
touch the quartz lamp with bare hands.

The Hyco Sun King Outdoor Quartz Heater is supplied with a standard 12 month
replacement warranty (excluding Lamps) that protects against any manufacturing
defects up to 1 year of the original purchase date.In the event of a product failure
please contact Hyco on 01977 517555.Incidental or consequential damages are
excluded from this warranty.
