Overview
Thank you for purchasing an Accona Panel Heater. A xed heating solution, available in 0.5,
1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.4 kW models. These are suitable for application in both home and oce
environments.
Please read and follow these instructions to ensure that installation and operation are as
simple and safe as possible.
This appliance should only be installed and maintained by a competent person in
accordance with any local electrical regulations.
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons
with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and
knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
Children shall not play with the appliance.
Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
Children of less than 3 years should be kept away unless continuously supervised.
Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall only switch on/o the
appliance provided that it has been placed or installed in its intended normal
operating position and they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall not plug in, regulate, and
clean the appliance or perform user maintenance.
Some parts of this appliance can become very hot and cause burns. Particular
attention has to be given where children and vulnerable people are present.
In order to avoid overheating, do not cover the heater.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service
agent or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid a hazard.
Important Safety Points

The appliance must be permanently connected to the electrical supply through an
appropriately rated isolating switch with a contact separation in all poles.
This appliance must be earthed.
Only connect the appliance to an electrical supply that meets the specication
detailed on the rating label.
The appliance must not be located immediately below a socket outlet.

Select a location for the appliance ensuring the mounting surface is suitable for the
weight and heat of the appliance.
This appliance is not designed for outdoor use or use in very damp environments.
If the appliance is located in a bathroom, it must be installed so that switches and
other controls cannot be touched by a person in the bath or shower.
The appliance is only intended for horizontal installation, re risk exists if installed
in any other orientation.
Ensure there are no hidden cables or pipework before commencing any drilling.
To avoid overheating risk, ensure minimum clearances are observed when installing
the appliance (see diagram 1).

Do not install the appliance in very dusty environments. Dust can burn as
it passes over the heating element and adhere to the outer surface and
immediate surroundings of the appliance, leading to permanent marking.

• Drill the two ‘L’ holes as marked in the previous step and insert 2 wall plugs and
screws. Leave at least 5 mm of exposed thread to hang the appliance onto.
• Assemble the two brackets supplied, as shown in diagram 1, to the rear of the
appliance. Once in place, secure the brackets using the supplied screws.
• Fit the spacer onto the rear of the appliance (see diagram 3). The rear of the spacer
has hooks that engage into the corresponding slots of the appliance as it is pushed
down.
• Hang the appliance on the screws by locating them into the centre of the two
corresponding top brackets and then sliding the appliance down, right and down
(see diagram 4).

• Mark the two ‘L’ holes as shown in diagram 2. The distance between the centres of the
holes are model dependent, consult the table for the specic model being tted.

• Fit the nal xing bracket via the air inlet grilles located on the underside of the
appliance (see diagram 5).
• Slide the xing bracket along the air inlet grille until it contacts ush to wall. Mark
the hole requirement on the wall and then remove the appliance by reversing the
movement in the earlier step.
• Drill the hole and insert a wall plug.
• Return the appliance to the wall and insert the nal screw into the xing bracket to
complete the wall mounting.

2. Electrical Connection
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service
agent or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid a hazard.

- Green/ yellow earth wire to terminal marked or ‘E’
- Brown live wire to the terminal marked‘L’
- Blue neutral wire to the terminal marked ‘N’

4. Preparing the Appliance
Setting the Time and Date
• Switch the power supply to the appliance on.
• Turn the appliance on using the rocker switch on the right hand side of the appliance.
A blue light will be illuminated above to the on/ o button.
• Press the button and the LCD display will now be illuminated.
• The appliance will time out if no button is pressed within 4 seconds and the
process will need to be restarted. Take time to read through each section before
performing each task.
• When setting the time and day it is essential to ensure that ONLY the day of the week
is ashing e.g. MON and no other icons. Press OK to exit and restart if required.
• Press OK rst (keep holding this down) followed by SET and hold both until the
appliance beeps.
• The day of the week will ash. Use the arrows to select the day and press SET
to conrm.
• The hour will ash. Use the arrows to select the hour and press SET to conrm.
• The minutes will ash. Use the arrows to select the minutes and press SET to
conrm or leave to time out.
• During the setting process use SET when conrming the day/ hour/ minute required. Do
NOT press OK as this will exit the process and you will need to restart.

Setting the Target Temperature
• Use the arrows to set the target temperature. The temperature display will
briey ash, when it stops ashing it is now set and ready to use.
• To change the target temperature at any time, use the arrows.
Manual Mode
• Manual mode is the simplest way to use your appliance. No timers are running.
The thermostat will control the heating element to reach and maintain the target
temperature.
• Select manual mode by pressing until the M (manual) icon is displayed.
Nb. Setting the time and date is not essential for M (manual) mode.
Run on Timer Mode
• Whilst in manual mode it is possible to control the length of time the appliance
operates for using a run on timer function. This is most convenient if you require the
appliance to turn itself o after a period of time.
• Select manual mode by pressing until the M (manual) icon is displayed.
• Press SET to enter the run on timer programming screen.
• The hour, day of week and icon will ash (see section 3. Controls).
• Use the arrows to select the hour for the appliance to turn o and press SET.
• The minutes will ash. Use the arrows to select the minutes for the appliance
to turn o.
• Once the desired hour and minute for the appliance to stop heating are displayed,
press OK to conrm.
• The appliance will now display the icon to conrm run on timer mode is active.
• Run on timer mode will be cleared if the appliance is switched o.

Selecting the Operating Mode
• On rst power on the appliance will default to manual mode, M will be illuminated.
• To select your chosen operating mode press to choose either M (manual) or A
(automatic).

Automatic Timer Mode
• When programming automatic timer mode you are only setting the time
periods during which you want the appliance to be switched on.
• Automatic timer mode allows the appliance to be operated by a user dened
schedule. This oers up to four separate segments of operation to be dened for
each day (all segments do not need to be used).
• This feature is strongly recommended where heat demand is predictable as it
can help reduce energy wastage. In addition, this allows spaces to be heated in
anticipation of the demand without the need for somebody to be present to turn it
on. See 2 examples of how automatic mode could be used below;
Example 1 – in a domestic at
Segment 1 (when user wakes up) – Heating ON 06:00 and heating OFF 08:00
Segment 2 (when user returns from work)– Heating ON 17:00 and heating OFF 22:00
This uses 2 segments over a 24 hour period
Example 2 – in a commercial oce
Segment 1 (sta arrive to work for the day) – Heating ON 07:00 and heating OFF 17:00
This uses 1 segment over a 24 hour period

• When programming automatic timer mode there are no minutes. It is HOUR ON/
HOUR OFF using 24-hour time format (see diagram 4).
• Press SET, the day of the week will ash.
• Use the arrows to select the day and press SET to conrm. The display in
diagram 5 is setting the 1st segment for Monday.
• Segment 1 of the chosen day is now being programmed.
• The 1st block of digits will ash, this shows the hour for heating to turn ON
e.g. 00 = 12am, 08 = 8am.
• Use the arrows to select the hour for the appliance to turn ON (08 = 8am)
and press SET to conrm.
• The 2nd block of digits will ash, this shows the hour for heating to turn OFF
e.g. 10 = 10am, 14 = 2pm.
• Use the arrows to select the hour for the appliance to turn OFF (10 = 10am)
and press SET to conrm.
• The appliance will now move to segment 2 which can be programmed for chosen
ON/ OFF times as above.
• This can be repeated for as many of the 4 segments as desired. When programming
for the current day is complete (no matter how many segments have been used)
press OK. This will NOT take you to the next consecutive day, it will take you back
to the beginning and you must begin the process of selecting your chosen day to
programme again.

Frost Protection
• The appliance has a frost protection mode which will not allow the temperature of its
surroundings to drop below 5°C. This feature will operate regardless of any settings
that have been selected. The only way to prevent this feature operating is to switch
o the heater at the main switch (not standby).
Open Window Detection
• Open window detection will detect any sharp drop in the room temperature due to
an open window. This is designed to help reduce energy wastage, it is recommended
to be set on.
• The appliance will beep and stop heating, WO will ash to indicate open window
detection. To clear, the appliance should be switched o and back on using the
button.
• It is possible to switch the feature on or o. Press and hold OK until the appliance
beeps and the WO icon is no longer visible. This means open window detections has
been switched o.
Selecting Between Full and Half Power
• Press the button to choose between the settings. The current setting will be
displayed by either the LO or HI icon on the display (see section 3. Controls).
Child Lock
• Press the arrows simultaneously and hold until the appliance beeps. The
temperature display will be replaced by [ ] icon to indicate the appliance is locked.
• Repeat the rst step to unlock.
• If you are unsure whether child lock is active when the appliance is in standby, press
the button to illuminate the LCD display. Press any button to check whether the
child lock [ ] icon is displayed.

• The appliance should be inspected and cleaned periodically. Ensure the inlet grilles
at the base and the outlet louvres at the front of the appliance are cleared of dust
or other debris that may causes a blockage and in turn reduce the airow in and
out of the appliance. If unchecked this may lead to the appliance running at hotter
temperatures.
• Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to gently remove any debris from the inlet grilles
and outlet louvres.
6. Cleaning and Maintenance
This appliance should only be installed and maintained by a competent person in
accordance with any local electrical regulations.
Ensure any future maintenance or modications to the appliance complies with the
guidelines in these instructions.
Isolate the appliance from the electrical supply before performing any maintenance
task.
Ensure the appliance has cooled down before performing any maintenance task.
Do not use abrasive chemicals to clean this appliance.
Use a soft damp cloth when cleaning, avoid excessive use of liquids.
If the unit has been o for a prolonged period, safely remove any excess dust
from the unit and immediate vicinity before turning on.

8. Troubleshooting
Error code Meaning
E1 Temperature sensor error - contact Hyco.
E3 Overheat event - the appliance will beep until any button is pressed to clear the
fault. The cause of the overheat should be investigated before continuing to use the
appliance.
WO Open window detection - resolve cause then to clear, the appliance should be
switched o and back on via the on/ o button.

INFORMATION FOR CORRECT DISPOSAL OF THE PRODUCT IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE EUROPEAN DIRECTIVE 2012/19/EU.
At the end of its working life this equipment must not be disposed of as household
waste. It must be taken to a local authority waste collection centre or to a dealer
providing this service. Disposing of electrical and electronic equipment separately
enables its components to be recovered and recycled to obtain signicant savings
in energy and resources. In order to underline the duty to dispose of this equipment
separately, the product is marked with a crossed out dustbin.
9. Guarantee and Service Policy
This product is covered by a standard parts or replacement warranty for a period of
1 year from the date of purchase.
If there is a manufacturing defect within the warranty period we will send spare parts,
repair and return the unit or, at our discretion, supply a replacement product.
Incorrect installation and failure to follow correct operating instructions are excluded.
Consequential costs such as labour charges or damage to surroundings are expressly
excluded.
If you experience a problem with this product you should rst contact our service
department on 01924 225 200 before taking any further action. Experience has shown
that issues can often be resolved without the need to return or uninstall the product.
