Die Gebrauchsanweisung gibt Ihnen wichtige Informationen für das Anpas
sen und Anlegen der Daumensattelgelenkorthese Rhizo Forsa 50A4.
2 Verwendung
2.1 Verwendungszweck
Die Orthese ist ausschließlich zur orthetischen Versorgung der oberen Ex
tremität einzusetzen und ausschließlich für den Kontakt mit intakter Haut
bestimmt.
Die Orthese muss indikationsgerecht eingesetzt werden.
2.2 Indikationen
• Seitenbandverletzungen des Daumengrundgelenkes (z.B. Skidaumen)
• Distorsionen
• Reizzustände und Verschleiß im Bereich des Daumensattel- und Dau
mengrundgelenks (z.B. Rhizarthrose)
Die Indikation wird vom Arzt gestellt.
2.3 Kontraindikationen
2.3.1 Absolute Kontraindikationen
Nicht bekannt.
2.3.2 Relative Kontraindikationen
Bei nachfolgenden Indikationen ist eine Rücksprache mit dem Arzt erforder
lich: Hauterkrankungen/-verletzungen, Entzündungen, aufgeworfene Narben
mit Schwellung, Rötung und Überwärmung im versorgten Körperabschnitt;
Krampfadern stärkeren Ausmaßes, insbesondere mit Rückfluss-Störungen,
Lymphabfluss-Störungen – auch unklare Weichteilschwellungen körperfern
des Hilfsmittels; Empfindungs- und Durchblutungsstörungen im Bereich des
Unterarms und der Hand, z.B. bei diabetischer Neuropathie.
2.4 Wirkungsweise
Die Orthese stabilisiert das Daumensattel- und das Daumengrundgelenk.

4 Handhabung
INFORMATION
►Die tägliche Tragedauer und der Anwendungszeitraum werden in der
Regel vom Arzt festgelegt.
►Die erstmalige Anpassung und Anwendung des Produkts darf nur
durch Fachpersonal erfolgen.
►Weisen Sie den Patienten in die Handhabung und Pflege des Produkts
ein.
►Weisen Sie den Patienten darauf hin, dass er umgehend einen Arzt
aufsuchen soll, wenn er außergewöhnliche Veränderungen an sich
feststellt (z.B. Zunahme der Beschwerden).
4.1 Auswählen der Größe
1) Den Handgelenkumfang ermitteln.
2) Die Orthesengröße ermitteln (siehe Größentabelle).
4.2 Anpassen
Die Orthese wird anprobefertig geliefert, kann aber bei Bedarf durch das
Fachpersonal angepasst werden.
1) Das integrierte Verstärkungselement individuell kalt anformen.
2) Die Rückholschlaufe des Handgelenkgurts abkletten und individuell ver
setzen.
3) Den Daumenverschluss individuell entlang der Prägung kürzen.
4.3 Anlegen
VORSICHT
Falsches oder zu festes Anlegen
Lokale Druckerscheinungen und Einengungen an durchlaufenden Blutge
fäßen und Nerven durch falsches oder zu festes Anlegen

►Stellen Sie das korrekte Anlegen und den korrekten Sitz der Orthese
sicher.

VORSICHT
Verwendung bei empfindlicher Haut auf Wärme
Hautirritationen durch Überwärmung
►Verwenden Sie das Produkt nicht bei bekannter Allergie gegen Wär
me.
►Verwenden Sie das Produkt bei auftretenden Hautirritationen im Zwei
felsfall nicht weiter.
►Informieren Sie den Patienten.
HINWEIS
Verwendung eines verschlissenen oder beschädigten Produkts
Eingeschränkte Wirkung
►Weisen Sie den Patienten darauf hin, dass er das Produkt vor jedem
Gebrauch auf Funktionstüchtigkeit, Verschleiß oder Schäden unter
sucht.
►Machen Sie den Patienten darauf aufmerksam, dass das Produkt nicht
mehr verwendet werden soll, wenn das Produkt oder ein Teil des Pro
dukts Verschleißerscheinungen (z. B. Risse, Verformungen, schlechte
Passform) oder Schäden aufweist.
> Der Handgelenkgurt ist geöffnet.
> Der Daumenverschluss ist gelockert.
1) Die Orthese über den Daumen ziehen.
2) Den Handgelenkgurt durch die Umlenkschlaufe führen (siehe Abb.2)
und verschließen (siehe Abb.3).
3) Den Daumenverschluss schließen (siehe Abb.4).
4.4 Reinigung
HINWEIS
Verwendung falscher Reinigungsmittel
Beschädigung des Produktes durch falsche Reinigungsmittel
►Reinigen Sie das Produkt nur mit den zugelassenen Reinigungsmitteln.
Die Orthese regelmäßig reinigen:
1) Alle Klettverschlüsse schließen.

2) Die Orthese in 30°C warmen Wasser mit einem handelsüblichen Fein
waschmittel von Hand waschen.
3) Die Orthese gut ausspülen.
4) An der Luft trocknen lassen. Direkte Hitzeeinwirkung vermeiden (z.B.
durch Sonnenbestrahlung, Ofen- oder Heizkörperhitze).
5 Entsorgung
Das Produkt gemäß den geltenden nationalen Vorschriften entsorgen.
6 Rechtliche Hinweise
Alle rechtlichen Bedingungen unterliegen dem jeweiligen Landesrecht des
Verwenderlandes und können dementsprechend variieren.
6.1 Haftung
Der Hersteller haftet, wenn das Produkt gemäß den Beschreibungen und
Anweisungen in diesem Dokument verwendet wird. Für Schäden, die durch
Nichtbeachtung dieses Dokuments, insbesondere durch unsachgemäße
Verwendung oder unerlaubte Veränderung des Produkts verursacht werden,

6.2 CE-Konformität
Das Produkt erfüllt die Anforderungen der europäischen Richtlinie
93/42/EWG für Medizinprodukte. Aufgrund der Klassifizierungskriterien
nach AnhangIX dieser Richtlinie wurde das Produkt in die KlasseI einge
stuft. Die Konformitätserklärung wurde deshalb vom Hersteller in alleiniger

These instructions for use provide important information on the fitting and
application of the 50A4 Rhizo Forsa carpometacarpal joint orthosis.

2 Application
2.1 Intended Use
The orthosis is intended exclusively for orthotic fittings of the upper limbs
and exclusively for contact with intact skin.
The orthosis must be used in accordance with the indications.
2.2 Indications
• Collateral ligament injuries of the metacarpophalangeal joint (e.g.skier's
thumb)
• Sprains
• Irritation and wear of the carpometacarpal and metacarpophalangeal
joints (e.g.osteoarthritis of the base of the thumb)
Indications must be determined by the physician.
2.3 Contraindications
2.3.1 Absolute Contraindications
Not known.
2.3.2 Relative Contraindications
The following indications require consultation with a physician: skin dis
eases/injuries, inflammation, prominent, swollen scars, reddening and
hyperthermia in the relevant area; pronounced varicose veins, especially with
impaired blood return, lymph drainage disorders and unclear soft tissue
swelling distal to the support; sensory and circulatory disorders in the area
of the forearm and hand, e.g. associated with diabetic neuropathy.
2.4 Effects
The orthosis stabilises the carpometacarpal and metacarpophalangeal
joints.

4 Handling
INFORMATION
►The daily duration of use and period of application are generally
determined by the physician.
►The initial fitting and application of the product must be carried out by
qualified personnel.
►Instruct the patient in the handling and care of the product.
►Instruct the patient to see a physician immediately if any exceptional
changes are noted (e.g. worsening of the complaint).
4.1 Size Selection
1) Determine the wrist circumference.
2) Determine the orthosis size (see size chart).
4.2 Adaptation
The orthosis is delivered ready for trial fitting, but can be adapted by quali
fied personnel if required.
1) Cold mould the integrated reinforcing element to suit the individual user.
2) Undo the pull loop on the wrist strap and reposition it to suit the individu
al user.
3) Shorten the thumb closure along the embossing to suit the individual
user.
4.3 Application
CAUTION
Incorrect or excessively tight application
Risk of local pressure and constriction of blood vessels and nerves due to
improper or excessively tight application
►Ensure that the orthosis is applied properly and fits correctly.
►Inform the patient.

Use on skin sensitive to heat
Skin irritation due to overheating
►Do not use the product in case of a known heat allergy.

occurs.

►Instruct the patient to inspect the product for proper functionality, wear
and damage prior to each use.
►Advise the patient that the product must not be used if the product or
part of the product exhibits signs of wear (e.g. cracks, deformation,
poor fit) or damage.
> The wrist strap is open.
> The thumb closure is loosened.
1) Pull the orthosis over the thumb.
2) Guide the wrist strap through the guide loop (see fig.2) and fasten it
(see fig.3).
3) Close the thumb closure (see fig.4).
4.4 Cleaning
NOTICE
Use of improper cleaning agents
Damage to the product due to use of improper cleaning agents
►Only clean the product with the approved cleaning agents.
Clean the orthosis regularly:
1) Fasten all hook-and-loop closures.
2) Hand wash the orthosis in warm water at 30°C with standard mild deter
gent.
3) Rinse well.
4) Allow to air dry. Do not expose to direct heat sources (e.g. sunlight,
stove or radiator).
5 Disposal
Dispose of the product in accordance with national regulations.
6 Legal Information
All legal conditions are subject to the respective national laws of the country
of use and may vary accordingly.

6.1 Liability
The manufacturer will only assume liability if the product is used in accord
ance with the descriptions and instructions provided in this document. The

2 Utilisation
2.1 Usage prévu

l’extrémité supérieure et elle est conçue uniquement pour entrer en contact
avec une peau intacte.
Il est impératif d’utiliser l’orthèse conformément aux indications.
2.2 Indications
• Lésions du ligament latéral de l’articulation basale du pouce (pouce du
skieur parex.)
• Entorses
• États inflammatoires et usure au niveau de l’articulation en selle et de
l’articulation basale du pouce (rhizarthrose parex.)
L’indication est déterminée par le médecin.

2.3 Contre-indications
2.3.1 Contre-indications absolues

2.3.2 Contre-indications relatives
Les indications suivantes requièrent la consultation d’un médecin: lésions
ou affections cutanées; inflammations; cicatrices exubérantes avec
œdème; rougeurs et hyperthermie dans la zone du corps appareillée; va
rices importantes, en particulier avec troubles du reflux veineux, troubles de
la circulation lymphatique et également œdèmes inexpliqués des parties
molles du côté distal par rapport à l’orthèse; troubles de la perception et de
la circulation sanguine dans la zone de l’avant-bras et de la main, par
exemple en cas de neuropathie diabétique.
2.4 Effets thérapeutiques
L’orthèse stabilise l’articulation en selle et l’articulation de base du pouce.

4 Manipulation
INFORMATION
►En général, le médecin détermine la durée quotidienne du port du pro
duit et sa période d’utilisation.
►Seul le personnel spécialisé est habilité à procéder au premier ajuste
ment et à la première utilisation du produit.
►Apprenez au patient comment manipuler et entretenir correctement le
produit.

►Indiquez au patient qu'il doit immédiatement consulter un médecin s'il
constate des changements anormaux sur sa personne (par ex. une
augmentation des douleurs).
4.1 Sélection de la taille
1) Déterminez la circonférence du poignet.
2) Sélectionnez la taille de l’orthèse (voir tableau des tailles).
4.2 Ajustement
L’orthèse est livrée prête à l’essayage, elle peut être ajustée par le person
nel spécialisé si besoin.
1) Adaptez à froid la forme de l’élément de renforcement intégré à
l’anatomie du patient.
2) Détachez la boucle de renvoi de la sangle du poignet et serrez-la en
fonction de l’anatomie du patient.
3) Raccourcissez la fermeture du pouce le long du marquage en fonction
de l’anatomie du patient.
4.3 Mise en place
PRUDENCE
Mise en place incorrecte du produit ou produit trop serré

sées par une mise en place incorrecte ou par un serrage excessif

duit fonctionne bien et si ce dernier présente des signes d’usure ou
d’endommagement.
►Attirez l’attention du patient sur le fait qu’il ne peut continuer à utiliser
le produit si ce dernier ou l’un de ses éléments est usé ou endommagé
(par ex. des fissures, des déformations, une forme non appropriée).
> La sangle du poignet est ouverte.
> La fermeture du pouce est desserrée.
1) Passez l’orthèse sur le pouce.
2) Passez la sangle du poignet dans la boucle de renvoi (voir ill.2) et fer
mez-la (voir ill.3).
3) Fermez la fermeture du pouce (voir ill.4).
4.4 Nettoyage

Utilisation de détergents inadaptés
Dégradation du produit occasionnée par l’utilisation d’un détergent in
adapté
►Nettoyez le produit uniquement avec les détergents autorisés.
Nettoyez l'orthèse régulièrement:
1) Fermez toutes les fermetures auto-agrippantes.
2) Lavez l’orthèse à la main à 30°C avec une lessive pour linge délicat.
3) Rincez bien l’orthèse.
4) Laissez sécher à l’air. Évitez toute source de chaleur directe (par ex. le
rayonnement solaire ou la chaleur d’un poêle/d’un radiateur).
5 Mise au rebut
Éliminez le produit conformément aux prescriptions nationales en vigueur.
6 Informations légales
Toutes les conditions légales sont soumises à la législation nationale du
pays d’utilisation concerné et peuvent donc présenter des variations en
conséquence.

2.3.2 Controindicazioni
In presenza delle seguenti controindicazioni è necessario consultare il medi
co: malattie/lesioni della pelle; infiammazioni, cicatrici in rilievo caratterizzate
da gonfiori, arrossamento e ipertermia della parte in cui è applicata l'ortesi;
vene varicose di ampia estensione, in particolare in caso di disturbi del cir
colo venoso; disturbi del flusso linfatico inclusi gonfiori dei tessuti molli non
identificati, indipendentemente dall'area del corpo in cui è applicata l'ortesi;
disturbi della sensibilità e circolatori dell'avambraccio e della mano, p. es.
nel caso di neuropatia diabetica.
2.4 Azione terapeutica
L’ortesi stabilizza l’articolazione carpo-metacarpale e metacarpo-falangea
del pollice.

4 Utilizzo
INFORMAZIONE
►È il medico a stabilire generalmente il tempo di impiego giornaliero e la
durata di utilizzo.
►La prima applicazione del prodotto e il relativo adattamento al corpo
del paziente devono essere eseguiti esclusivamente da personale spe
cializzato.
►Istruire il paziente circa l'uso e la cura corretti del prodotto.
►Il paziente deve essere informato della necessità di recarsi immediata
mente da un medico nel caso in cui notasse cambiamenti inusuali
(p.es. aumento dei disturbi).
