Safety Instructions
The Hunter-Pro 832/8144 and Captain 8 alarm systems have been registered in accordance with
EN60950 and its rules. EN60950 requires us to advise you the following information:
Hazards of fire and electric shock exist in this alarm system. To reduce the risk of fire or
electric shock, do not expose this alarm system to rain or moisture. Pay attention: Telephone
cords could be a good conductor for lightings energy.
Do not open the door of the alarm system. Dangerous high voltages are present inside of the
enclosure. Refer servicing to qualified personnel only.
This alarm system should be used with 230VAC/110VAC, 50/60Hz, protected by anti-
electric shock breaker. To prevent electric shocks and fire hazards, do NOT use any other
power source.
Do not spill liquid of any kind onto the unit. If liquid is accidentally spilled onto the unit,
immediately consult a qualified service.
Install this product in a protected location where no one can trip over any line or power cord.
Protect cords from damage or abrasion.
Disconnect all sources of power supply before proceeding with the installation. Pay
attention: do not install low voltage wires near any AC power wires. They should be
installed separately.

All PIMA alarm systems are secured against RF and electro-magnetic interferences.
About the Lite versions
The Hunter-Pro Lite version does not include the following Hunter-Pro modules and components:

1Hunter-Pro Series
The Hunter-Pro Series has two models: 832 for 8-32 zones, and 8144 for 8-144 zones.
Both models are hybrid (can use both hardwired and wireless zones, using a wireless expander).
The Hunter-Pro Series offers complete panel integration with full data channels, such as GSM-
GPRS, SMS, TCP/IP, PSTN and long-range radio.

EGND
Earth ground terminal, is to be used in places with severe electrical
activity (abnormal levels of lightning or electrical discharge). Connect
the terminal to metal cold water pipe or AC power outlet ground.
PIMA’s transformer does not require earth ground.

Answering machine, fax and telephone sets terminals.

1.3. Battery jump-start
Starting PCB version 3610100 Rev. E., during AC fault, if the backup Battery’s voltage drops under
8V, the control panel disconnects it to prevent full battery discharge. This feature extends the
battery life cycle.
Because of this, the control panel cannot be powered up using only the battery, and must be
connected to AC voltage first.
When AC voltage is not available, do the following:
a) Connect the control panel to the Battery.
b) Shortly connect the battery’s (-) terminal to the control
panel’s (-) terminal.
c) The control panel will now power up.

The overall length of the BUS wires cannot exceed 500 meters.
If a longer distance is required, refer to section 1.5.9, on page 16.
The BUS uses PIMA proprietary protocol.
Before you begin the installation process, make sure the control
panel is not connected to battery or AC power.

To set a zone loop with one or two EOL resistors, refer to parameter “E” in the “Zone
characteristics” screen, (see page 47) and “Key #5: General Parameters”, first screen,
parameter "2" (see page 62).
1.5.3. Zone doubling
Expand the onboard zones (8) with eight additional zones, without using any expansion card.
Use 10kand 5.1kresistors for each zone couple.
Zone doubling is enabled only when no expander is connected to the system.
To use zone doubling follow the next steps and diagram:
1. Connect zones #1 and #9 to terminal Z1.
2. Connect zones #2 and #10 to terminal Z2.
3. Connect zones #8 and #16 to terminal Z8.

The following is a brief scan of the zone and output expansion options. A detailed installation
description is found further on.

The card is connected to the PCB’s “Expansion Card” connector.

It is connected to the panel over the BUS wires.

1.5.5. Zone numbering guidelines
1. Hardwired zones come before wireless zones.
2. Local expanders come before any other expander.
3. The expanders are numbered sequentially, in ascending order according to their IDs.

Expander's ID guidelines and setting
Follow the next guidelines when setting an ID:
Each expander must carry a unique ID.
The IDs must be sequential. Note that the I/O-16 takes two consecutive IDs, e.g., if the ID
is set to ‘3’, the next available ID is ‘5’, and not ‘4’. See the next table.

1.5.9. The BUS
PIMA's remote expanders have two terminal blocks for connecting to the BUS braid: "lower" and
"upper", front look. Both have four terminals, numbered 1-4. When the BUS overall length is up to
500m, the connection is done via the "lower" terminals see the next diagrams.
To extend the BUS over 500m, connect the first peripheral to the "upper" terminals to serve as a
buffer, and enable to extend the BUS.

1.5.11. EXP-PRO UNIV: local 8 zone expander
To use the EXP-PRO UNIV:
1. Install the module inside the control panel’s box, above the PCB,
using the 2 supplied screws.
2. Connect the supplied flat cable between the EXP-PRO UNIV
and PCB’s “Expansion Card” socket.
3. To configure the EXP-PRO UNIV, refer to section 4.2.
Make sure JP2 jumper is placed on pins 1, 2.

1.5.12. RD-200 RFID reader
RD-200 is a standalone RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) proximity reader that can be
connected to the Hunter-Pro Series systems and be used to arm the control panels to all arming
modes, and disarm it.
The reader interfaces the control panel over the BUS.
The RD-200 cannot be used with partitions, because its ID is zero!

1.5.13. Key switches and zones
The KEY terminal serves as an input for key switches and keyfobs.
“KeySw Arm”, “KeySw Home 1” and “KeySw Home 2” are key zone types, for arming the
system to full, “Home 1” and “Home 2” modes, respectively. These zone types preserve most of
the KEY input functionality. See details ahead.
As any zone type, the KeySw zone types can be allocated per partition. The KEY terminal and the
KeySw zones can be triggered by momentary or toggle keys. The default is momentary see 8, on
page 62.
To use the KEY input, connect the key switch/key fob between the KEY terminal and GND (-).

Keyswitch zone types features
The Keyswitch zone types can only be used for arming and only with a key switch/fob
The Keyswitch zone types have no other zone response but arming
Key Switch zones can be hardwired (include. zone doubling) or wireless
Triggering Keyswitch zones cannot be indicated by the keypad chime
Tested (soaked) Key zones do report to the Central Monitoring Station when triggered
Subject to the user settings, Keyswitch can be bypassed by users
Keyswitch can be set as N.O. or N.C. and have EOL resistor loops
Only monitored keypads display the exit delay countdown, when arming via a Keyswitch zone
