Installation
Installation:
1. Using the supplied spanner bit, remove the 4 screws holding the front cover in place and then remove the cover.
2. Using a drill bit or knockout set, drill two holes in the bottom of the enclosure large enough for the water tight
connector.
3. Turn over the back of the enclosure and screw 1 mounting foot onto each mounting hole using the supplied
screws.
4. Run telephone line in conduit, bring line into the enclosure through the water tight connector, and tighten conduit
to connector.
5. Connect the incoming line to the RJ11 connector and plug it into the RJ11 jack on the board. Or, obtain a biscuit
jack, terminate your incoming line to the biscuit jack, and plug the included phone line into the RJ11 connector on
the biscuit jack.
Note: Do not cut RJ11 jack of supplied line cord and splice phone line onto it.
6. Run 120vac into the other conduit and water tight connector. Connect 120vac to the supplied transformer in the
enclosure using proper wire nuts. Black is hot and white is neutral (see page 4 for a more detailed wiring diagram).
Note: The transformer is wrapped separately in the box.
7. Locate the green battery backup pack in the enclosure. Plug the white connector located on the battery pack into
the “BATTERY” connector in the bottom left corner of the yellow board.
8. Turn on the electrical power.
9. After following programming instructions on page 4-5, screw cover back into place. Unit is ready for testing.

Phone Programming
Please choose one of the options below that matches the type of line that the phone is installed on:
1. Standard Telephone Line Programming
a. Press ENTER to begin programming
b. Press 1, ENTER, (phone number you want the phone to dial), STOP
c. Press and hold STOP for 3 seconds to exit programming
2. Switchboard Telephone Line Programming (Hotel Industry)
a. Press ENTER to begin programming
b. Press 1, ENTER, key in access code (usually 8 or 9), PLAY/PAUSE, (phone number you want the phone to
dial), STOP
c. Press and hold STOP for 3 seconds to exit programming

3. Ring-Down Telephone Line Programming
a. Press ENTER to begin programming
b. Press 1, 9, ENTER, 2
c. Press and hold STOP for 3 seconds to exit programming
Program Location Message (Optional):
RATH® phones have the ability to play a location message when the call is answered. This feature is used when the
phone is calling a phone number that cannot identify where the call is coming from by caller ID, or needs more location
information than caller ID can provide. This feature is turned off by default. Perform the steps below to turn on and
program the location message feature.
a. Press ENTER to begin programming
b. Press 1, ENTER, 1 or 2 (1 will play message once, 2 will play message twice)
c. Press 6, RECORD, wait for beep, (speak location message), press STOP
d. Press 6, PLAY/PAUSE to play message back
e. Press and hold STOP for 3 seconds to exit programming
Note: Party can replay message by pressing *,*. To turn location message off, press ENTER, 1, 3, ENTER, 0,
press and hold STOP for 3 seconds.
Adjusting the Volume

Mic Sensitivity VR2
If the volume is too low or high, adjust it by referring to the diagram and instructions below.
Adjusting the Microphone:
If the person you are calling reports your voice is not loud enough, increase the Microphone Sensitivity by adjusting
VR2 a 1/4 turn clockwise (requires a small Phillips screwdriver).
Adjusting the Speaker:
If the voice of the person you call is not loud enough in the phone speaker, increase the volume by adjusting VR1
a 1/4 turn clockwise.

1. Mount the strobe to a wall or pole using the proper anchor screws.
2. Run two wires from the phone to the strobe.
3. Attach the wires to the strobe using two wire nuts.
4. Connect the hot incoming wire to the transformer and the NO terminal on the relay board.
5. Connect the black wire of the strobe to the COM terminal on the relay board.

Problem Possible Cause & Solutions
No dial tone when the
button is pushed:
• Check to make sure the phone line is connected.
• Verify dial tone and voltage on phone line going into unit.
Audio is low from the speaker: • Speaker control needs to be adjusted. See “Adjusting the Speaker”.
• Make sure the speaker holes are not blocked.
Audio is distorted from the speaker: • Speaker control needs to be adjusted. See “Adjusting the Speaker”.
• Make sure there are no items touching the speaker inside of the enclosure.
Called party says audio
is low:
• Microphone control needs to be adjusted. See “Adjusting the Microphone”.
• Make sure the microphone hole is not blocked.
When the called party hangs up,
strobe (optional) continues to ash
for one minute:
• Slow disconnecting signal from the phone company. This is considered
normal operation.
When called party hangs up, strobe
(optional) continues to ash:
• Phone company or phone system is not providing a disconnect signal.
Contact the appropriate party to make sure the disconnect signal is provided.
Phone appears non-functional.
Strobe (optional) does not ash
and no audio is heard from speaker
when button is pushed:
• Check to make sure the phone line is connected.
• Check electrical connections. Phone has 12v from the transformer.
• Push button may be non-functional.
