1.InformaciónGeneral
• Manipular el paquete con cuidado. Desembalarlo y comprobar que el contenido
coincide con lo indicado en el apartado de la “Lista de embalaje”. Si se observa algún
componente dañado o la ausencia de alguno avisar rápidamente al distribuidor.
• No instalar ni utilizar el equipo sin leer, previamente, este manual de instrucciones.
Estas instrucciones forman parte inseparable del equipo y deben estar disponibles a
todos sus usuarios.
• Consultar cualquier duda al servicio técnico de J.P. SELECTA, s.a.u.
• No utilizar el equipo en atmósferas explosivas, inamables ni corrosivas.

5.Descripcióndelequipo
Las estufas DRY-BIG se utilizan en el tratamiento térmico de muestras, para su
desecación, curado, esterilización, etc. Especialmente cuando las muestras se pueden
tratar mediante circulación de aire forzado.
La circulación de aire forzado consigue una gran homogeneidad de la temperatura y
una rápida subida de temperatura.
El controlador de temperatura incluye las siguientes funciones:
- Selección de temperatura hasta 250ºC en incrementos de 1ºC.
- Selección de un tiempo de espera, transcurrido el cual, la estufa se pondrá en
marcha.
- Selección de un tiempo de funcionamiento, transcurrido el cual, la estufa se
detiene.
El control remoto de la estufa desde un ordenador permite la realización de perles
de temperatura, registro de datos y bloqueo del panel de mandos, mediante comu-
nicación en serie RS-232 y el registro de temperaturas en lápiz de memoria USB.
6.Instalación
Una vez desembalado el equipo, compruebe visualmente que está en buen estado.
Conserve el embalaje durante unos días.
6.1Emplazamiento
Situar el equipo en una supercie plana, nivelada, estable y adecuada al peso del
equipo. Para trabajar con comodidad, dejar libre un espacio de 50cm a cada lado del
equipo y un mínimo de 20cm en la parte trasera.
6.2Conexiónalaredeléctrica
Escoger una toma de corriente cercana al equipo y adecuada a la potencia del equipo.
Utilizar el cable de conexión suministrado u otro de similares características. Para su
seguridad, la toma de corriente debe tener conexión a tierra.
Antes de enchufar, vericar que la tensión y frecuencia de la red eléctrica corresponde
a la indicada en la etiqueta de características del equipo.
Una vez conectada a la red. Vericar el sentido de giro del motor. Si no es
el correcto, intercambiar dos de las tres fases y comprobar de nuevo.
7.Funcionamiento
Una vez desembalado el equipo, compruebe visualmente que está en buen estado.
Conserve el embalaje durante unos días.
7.1Introducción
El funcionamiento básico de la estufa DRY-BIG es muy sencillo: seleccionar la tem-
peratura de trabajo (ver 7.2) y pulsar la tecla «START».
La estufa se pondrá en marcha y, al cabo de unos minutos, la temperatura del interior
se estabilizará a la Tª de trabajo.
Para sacar el máximo rendimiento a la estufa, conviene conocer todas las funciones
adicionales de la estufa:
- Añadir un tiempo de espera a la puesta en marcha y un tiempo de funcionamiento.
- Ajustar de forma precisa la medida de temperatura.
- Registrar lecturas de temperatura en un lápiz de memoria USB.
- Controlar la estufa desde un ordenador vía serie RS-232.

7.2Establecerlatemperaturadetrabajo
a. El LED «RUN» deberá estar apagado (Pulsar «START/STOP»).
b. Pulsar y sin soltar, pulsar o hasta que el display muestre la
temperatura de trabajo deseada.
7.3Establecereltiempodefuncionamiento
Este tiempo empezará a contar a partir de que la estufa alcance la temperatura de
trabajo.
Transcurrido este tiempo, la calefacción se detendrá. No se detiene la ventilación.
No es necesario establecer un tiempo de funcionamiento. Si este tiempo es «0», la
estufa funciona continuamente (este valor es el establecido por defecto).
a. El LED «RUN» deberá estar apagado (pulsar «START/STOP»).
b. Pulsar y sin soltar, pulsar o hasta que el display muestre el
tiempo de funcionamiento deseado (en horas y décimas de minuto).
c. Transcurrido un tiempo, después de la puesta en marcha, la estufa alcanzará la
temperatura de trabajo. En este momento, se enciente el led indicando que hay
un tiempo de funcionamiento programado.
7.4 Establecer el tiempo de espera
Este tiempo empezará a contar a partir de que la estufa alcance la temperatura de
trabajo (ver Fig. 2).
Transcurrido este tiempo, la calefacción se detendrá. No se detiene la ventilación.
No es necesario establecer un tiempo de espera. Si este es «0», la estufa funciona
al pulsar «START» (este valor es el establecido por defecto).
a. El LED «RUN» deberá estar apagado (pulsar «START/STOP»).
b. Pulsar y, de nuevo, y sin soltar, pulsar o hasta que el
display muestre el tiempo de funcionamiento deseado (en horas).
c. Al poner la estufa en marcha se enciente el led «TIMER» indicando que hay
un tiempo de espera antes de la puesta en marcha.
7.5Calibración(Ajuste)delaestufa
Las estufas DRY-BIG se entregan ajustadas de fábrica. Sin embargo, si se observa
una desviación de la temperatura indicada en el display respecto a la temperatura
medida en el interior con un termómetro de referencia, puede ajustarse el controlador
de la temperatura.
Inicialmente, intente corregir el error añadiendo un «Offset» para ajustar la tempe-
ratura (ver 7.5.1).
Ejemplo:
El display de la estufa indica 100ºC.
El termómetro de referencia indica 99ºC.
Debe añadir un «offset» de 1.0 .

7.5.1Ajustedel«Offset»
El «Offset» permite añadir una cantidad (positiva o negativa) al valor de temperatura
medida, desplazando la lectura.
Puede introducirse un «offset» entre -9.9 y 9.9 ºC.
a. El LED «RUN» debe estar apagado (pulsar «START/STOP»).
b. Pulsar y sin soltar, pulsar durante 5 segundos.
c. Soltar y .
d. Pulsar una vez.
e. Pulsar o hasta que el display muestre el «Offset» deseado.
f. Pulsar cuatro veces.
7.5.2Ajustedel«Coecientedetemperatura»
El «Coeciente de temperatura» añade un factor que multiplica la lectura original
del controlador.
Puede introducirse un coeciente entre 800 y 1000 (el valor 1000 se muestra en
el display como 000).
El valor por defecto del coeciente es 1000.
Este coeciente se aplica según la fórmula:
Tª_display = Tª_sonda x (coeciente / 1000)
a. El LED «RUN» deberá estar apagado (Pulsar «START/STOP»).
b. Pulsar y sin soltar, pulsar durante 5 segundos.
c. Soltar y .
d. Pulsar dos veces.
e. Pulsar o hasta que el display muestre el coeciente deseado.
f. Pulsar tres veces.
7.6Ajustedeltermostatodeseguridad
Las estufas DRY-BIG están equipadas con un termostato de seguridad (ver Fig.
4). Este dispositivo interrumpe la calefacción de la estufa si esta supera un valor
establecido.
Su actuación está prevista como dispositivo de seguridad adicional, en el caso de
que el controlador electrónico de temperatura dejara de funcionar correctamente. En
este caso, su actuación evita que la temperatura pudiera subir a valores excesivos.
Otro uso del termostato es para proteger muestras valiosas, ajustándolo entre 5 y
10 ºC por encima de la temperatura de trabajo.
El termostato sale ajustado de fábrica al máximo: 100% (al tope en sentido horario).
Para ajustar la temperatura de desconexión del termostato de seguridad, seguir los
siguientes pasos:
a. Ajustar el termostato al tope en sentido horario (100%).
b. Asegúrese de que el termostato de seguridad esté rearmado pulsando RESET.
El piloto rojo deberá estar apagado (ver Fig. 4).

c. Establecer en el panel de mandos de la estufa la temperatura de disparo del
termostato de seguridad.
Esta temperatura debe ser como mínimo 5°C superior a la temperatura de trabajo.
d. Pulsar «START» para poner en marcha la estufa.
e. Cuando la temperatura de la estufa esté estabilizada, girar lentamente el mando
del termostato de seguridad en sentido antihorario hasta que éste se dispare (se
escuchará un «clic») y se enciende el piloto rojo. Se desconecta la calefacción de la
estufa de forma permanente.
Bloquear el mando del termostato de seguridad.
f. Parar la estufa mediante el pulsador «START/STOP». Abrir la puerta y dejar enfriar
la estufa.
g. Pulsar el botón de «RESET» (1) y el piloto rojo (4) deberá apagarse (ver Fig. 4).
h. En este momento, la estufa estará lista para trabajar.
NOTA: El proceso de ajuste del termostato de seguridad es largo. Por este motivo
es únicamente práctico para los usuarios que trabajan habitualmente a la misma
temperatura.

7.7Seleccióndeltipodesalidaserie
Las estufas DRY-BIG vienen equipadas con una salida en serie de DB-9 de 9 pins.
Esta salida puede ser para registrar datos y controlar la estufa desde un ordenador.
Para seleccionar el tipo de salida en serie:
a. El LED «RUN» deberá estar apagado (Pulsar «START/STOP»).
b. Pulsar y sin soltar, pulsar durante 5 segundos.
c. Soltar y .
d. Pulsar tres veces.
e. Pulsar o hasta que el display muestre «USB» o «PC».
f. Pulsar dos veces.
7.8Seleccióndelintervaloderegistro.
El intervalo de registro es el tiempo entre lecturas que se registran en el modo «USB»
a. El LED «RUN» debe estar apagado. (Pulsar START/STOP).
b. Pulsar y sin soltar, pulsar durante 5 segundos.
c. Soltar y
d. Pulsar cuatro veces.
e. Pulsar o para disminuir / aumentar (minutos de intervalo).
f. Pulsar una vez.

8.Registrodetemperaturas
La estufa DRY-BIG incluye un sistema de registro de datos de la temperatura del
interior de la estufa.
Registro vía RS-232 con el software que puede solicitar a JP Selecta s.a.u.
El material necesario es:
a. Software de comunicaciones RS-232 de la estufa.
b. Cable de comunicaciones en serie, no suministrado con la estufa.
c. Ordenador PC con WINDOWS XP y conexión RS-232.
Instalación:
a. Puede conseguir los componentes para construir el cable para la comunicación
en serie en cualquier tienda especializada. Seguir el esquema de las guras 8.1 y
8.2 para hacer el cable.
No dude en consultar a J.P. SELECTA, s.a.u. si no puede conseguir el cable.
b. Instalar el archivo solicitado del software «DRY-BIG».
c. Conectar el cable serie en un puerto libre del ordenador (normalmente COM1
ó COM2).

7.9Seleccióndelidenticadorenserie«NúmeroID»
El «Número ID» identica el equipo dentro de una red en serie.
Desde un ordenador pueden controlarse varias estufas. Cada una debe llevar un
«Número ID» diferente.
Todas las estufas llevan de fábrica el «Número ID» = 1.
a. El LED «RUN» debe estar apagado (Pulsar «START/STOP»).
b. Pulsar y sin soltar, pulsar durante 5 segundos.
c. Soltar y .
d. Pulsar una vez.
e. Pulsar o para disminuir / aumentar el «Número ID».
f. Pulsar cuatro veces.
7.10Mensajesdeerror
Mensajes de error mostrados en el display:

Revisar la conexión de la sonda de temperatura.

9.Controlremotodelaestufa
Para controlar la estufa desde un ordenador remoto, se puede construir un software
a partir de los comandos en serie enviados al controlador de temperatura (Nota:
Son necesario conocimientos de programación avanzados).
De esta forma, pueden programarse perles de temperatura de varios pasos, rampas,
etc.
Consultar a J.P. Selecta s.a.u. para detalles más especícos.
10.Mantenimiento
Antes de quitar la tapa de la estufa para manipular en su interior, desconecte la
toma de red.
La manipulación de los circuitos electrónicos de la estufa por personal no
autorizado puede provocar daños de difícil reparación. Consulte al servicio
técnico autorizado de J.P. SELECTA, s.a.u.
Para la limpieza de las partes accesibles de la estufa, utilice limpiacristales o similar.
No utilizar disolventes agresivos.

5.EquipmentDescription
DRY-BIG ovens are used in sample thermal treatments, for its desiccation, cured
and sterilization. Especially when samples can be treated by fan assisted circulation.
Fan assisted circulation gets a great temperature uniformity and a quick temperature
rise.
The temperature controller includes the following functions:
- Temperature selection up to 250ºC in increments of 1ºC.
- Timeout selection, after which the oven will start.
- Operating time selection, after which the oven will stop.
The oven’s remote control from a PC allows temperature proles creation, data re-
cording and control panel lock, by means of a RS-232 serial interface communication
and a temperature recording in a USB pen-drive.
6.Installation
Unpack the equipment and visually check that the contents are in good conditions.
Keep the package for some days.
6.1Location
Place the equipment on a at level stable surface, suitable for the equipment weight.
To work in a comfortable way, please leave a free space of 50cm around the equipment
and a minimum of 20cm at the rear part.
6.2Connectiontothemains
Plug the equipment to a near socket suitable for the equipment power. Use the con-
nection cable supplied or a similar one.
For your safety, the equipment must be earthed.
Before plugging the machine, check that the voltage supply and the frequency co-
rresponds to the one indicated in the equipment characteristics plate. Also, check
that motor turns on the indicated way.
7.Operation
Unpack the equipment and visually check that the contents are in good conditions.
Keep the package for some days.
7.1Introduction
DRY-BIG basic operation is very simple: select the operating temperature (See 7.2)
and press the «START» key.
The oven will start and a few minutes later, the inner temperature will be stabilized
at the operating temperature.
To get the most out of the oven, it will be interesting you know all its additional features:
- Adding a timeout to the starting and an operating time.
- Adjusting the temperature measure in a precise way.
- Recording temperature readings in a USB pen-drive.
- Controlling the oven from a PC via a RS-232 serial.

7.2Settingworkingtemperature
a. The «RUN» led must be off (Press «START/STOP»).
b. Press and without releasing, press or until the display shows
the desired operating temperature.
7.3Settingoperationtime
This time begins to run from the moment the oven reaches the operating temperature.
After this time, heater will stop. But ventilation won’t stop.
It is not necessary to set an operating time. If this time is «0», the oven will run
continuously (This value is set by default).
a. The «RUN» led must be off (Press «START/STOP»).
b. Press and without releasing, press or until the display shows
the desired operating time (in hours and tenths of minute).
c. After this time, and after starting, the oven will reach the operating temperature.
At this time, the led will be lit indicating there’s a programmed operation time.
7.4Settingtimeout
This time will begin counting from the moment the oven reaches the operating tem-
perature. (See Fig. 2)
After this time, the heater will stop. However, the ventilation won’t stop.
It is not necessary to set a timeout. If this time is «0», the oven will run when pressing
«START» (This value is set on default).
a. The «RUN» led must be off (press «START/STOP»).
b. Press and, again, and without releasing it, press or
until the display shows the desired operating time (in hours).
c. When starting the oven , «TIMER» led is lit, indicating a timeout before it starts.
7.5Calibrating(adjusting)theoven
DRY-BIG ovens come factory adjusted. However, if there is a deviation seen of the
indicated temperature in the display regarding the measured temperature inside a
reference thermometer, you can adjust the temperature controller.
Initially, try to correct the error by adding an «Offset» to set the temperature. See 7.5.1
For example:
The oven’s display indicates 100ºC.
Reference thermometer indicates 99ºC.
An offset of 1.0 must be added.

7.5.1Setting«Offset»
The «Offset» allows adding a quantity (positive or negative) to the measured tem-
perature value, moving the reading.
An «offset» between -9.9 and 9.9 can be set.
a. The «RUN» led must be off (press «START/STOP»).
b. Press and without releasing, press for 5 seconds.
c. Release and .
d. Press once.
e. Press or until the display shows the desired «Offset».
f. Press four times.
7.5.2Settingthe«Temperaturecoefcient»
The temperature coefcient adds a factor that multiples the controller original reading.
A coefcient between 800 and 1000 can be set (The value 1000 is shown in the
display as 000)
The coefcient default value is 1000.
This coefcient applies according to the formula:
Tª_display = Tª_probe x (coefcient / 1000).
a. The «RUN» led must be off (Press «START/STOP»).
b. Press and without releasing, press for 5 seconds.
c. Release and .
d. Press twice.
e. Press or until the display shows the desired «coefcient».
f. Press three times.
7.6Settingthesafetythermostat
DRY-BIG ovens are equipped with a safety thermostat (See Fig. 4). This device
interrupts the oven’s heater if it exceeds the set value.
It is intended as an additional safety device, in case the temperature electronic con-
troller stops operating properly. In this case, its action prevents that the temperature
could rise to excessive values.
Another use of the thermostat is to protect valuable samples, by setting it between
5 and 10 ºC above the operating temperature.
The thermostat comes factory set to maximum: 100% (at full clockwise).
To set the safety thermostat shutdown temperature, follow the next instructions:
a. Set the thermostat at full clockwise (100%).
b. Be sure that the safety thermostat is reset by pressing «RESET». The red lamp
must be off (See Fig. 4).

c. Set the safety thermostat release temperature in the oven’s control panel.
This temperature must be at least 5°C higher than the operating temperature.
d. Press «START» to start the oven.
e. When the oven’s temperature is stabilized, slowly turn the safety thermostat knob
clockwise until it releases (you can hear a «click») and the red lamp lights.
The oven’s heater switches off permanently.
Lock the safety thermostat knob.
f. Stop the oven by pressing the «START/STOP» key. Open the door and let it
cool.
g. Press the «RESET» button (1) and the red lamp (4) must be off (See Fig. 4).
h. At this moment, the oven is ready to work.
NOTE: The safety thermostat setting process is long, that’s the reason why it is
only practical for users who usually work at the same temperature.

7.7Serialoutputtypeselection
DRY-BIG are equipped with a serial outlet DB-9 of 9 pins. This outlet could be for
logging data and controlling the oven from a computer.
To select the serial output type:
a. The «RUN» led must be off (Press «START/STOP»).
b. Press and without releasing, press for 5 seconds.
c. Release and .
d. Press three times.
e. Press or until the display shows «USB» or «PC».
f. Press twice.
7.8Recordingintervalselection
The recording interval is the time betwen readings registered in the «USB» mode:
a. The «RUN» led must be off (Press «START/STOP»).
b. Press and without releasing, press for 5 seconds.
c. Release and .
d. Press four times.
e. Press or to reduce / increase (interval minutes).

8.TemperatureRecord
DRY-BIG ovens include a temperaure data recording system from the oven’s inside.
Record via RS-232 with software you can request from JP Selecta s.a.u.
The material needed is:
a. Communications software RS-232 from the oven.
b. Serial communications cable, not supplied with the oven.
c. PC computer with WINDOWS XP and RS-232 connection.
Installation:
a. You can acquire the components to build the serial communication cable it in any
specialized shop. Please follow diagrams in gures 8.1 and 8.2 to build the cable.
Do not hesitate to contact J.P. SELECTA, s.a.u if you cannot get the cable.
b. Install the requested software le «DRY-BIG».
c. Connect the serial cable in a free port of the computer (normally COM1 or COM2).

7.9Serialidentication«IDnumber»selection
The «ID number» identies the equipment within a serial network.
You can control several ovens from a computer. Everyone has a different «ID number».
All the ovens have by default «ID number» = 1.
a. The «RUN» led must be off (Press «START/STOP»).
b. Press and without releasing, press for 5 seconds.
c. Release and .
d. Press once.
e Press or to reduce or increase the «ID number».
f. Press four times.
7.10Errormessages
Error messages shown in the display:
rtd The temperature probe reading is not correct. Check the probe
connection.

9.Oven’sRemoteControl
To control the oven from a remote computer, you can build a software, from the
serial commands sent to the temperature controller (Note: advanced programming
knowledge is needed). Temperature proles of different steps, ramps, etc. can be
programmed in this way.
Please contact J.P. Selecta,s.a.u. for more specic details.
10.Maintenance
Unplug the equipment from the mains before removing the oven’s cover to handle
inside.
The manipulation of the equipment internal electronic circuits by unauthori-
zed personnel can cause irreparable damage. Take it to one of J.P.SELECTA’s
authorized technical services.
It is recommended to clean the accessible parts of the oven with a cloth and a cleaner,
or a similar solution. Do not use aggressive solvents.
