1General
1.1Instructionsforavoiding spreading errors
-Storethe fertiliserproperly(refertomanufacturer'sinstructions)
-Adjustthe machine inaccordancewiththe setting charts,the Internetdatabaseand observing the
recommended instructionsinthe operatormanual.
-Check the spread ratebeforestarting spreading.
-Check the adjustedworking width(distancebetweenthe tramlines)using the mobiletestkit(optional
equipment)when using unknowntypesoffertiliserand alsoforgeneralchecking purposes.
1.2Generalinstructionsformachineadjustment
-Observethe generalsafetyinstructionsinthe operatormanual.
-Makesurethe guardtube isfitted.
-The operating heightismeasured atthe spreading disc,and isusuallyhorizontaland at80 cmabovehalf
crop growth
-Normallythe spreading discspeed is720min-1
1.3Specialinstructionsforspreadingslugpellets
Slug pelletscan be verydangerousforchildren and pets(e.g.dogs).Keep outofreachofchildren and
pets. Alwaysobservethe manufacturer'sinstructionsforuse!
The standardversion ofthe centrifugalspreadercan alsobe used forthe wide spreading ofslug pellets.The
spread rateofslug pelletsisrelativelylow(e.g.3kg/ha).
Avoidinhaling of productdustand directskincontact whenfilling the centrifugalspreader(wearprotectivegloves).
Thoroughlywashyourhandsand skinpartsaffected withwaterand soap afterapplication.
When handling slug pelletsalwaysobservethe manufacturer'sinstructionsand thegeneralsafetyprecautions
governing the handling of plantprotection products(BBAleafletno. 18).
Ensurethatthe two slidesarelocked closedwhen driving tothe field and back.Incasesofan uncontrolled
discharge ofspreading materialin aconcentrated area,collectorremovethatmaterial immediately.Ensurewhen
spreading slug pelletsthatthe outletaperturesarealways covered byspreadingmaterial and thatthe machine is
operated at aconstant spreadingdisc speed. Aresidual quantityof approx. 0.7kgperhoppertipcannot bespread
asdesignated.Toemptythe spreaderopen the slidesand collectthe material running out(e.g.on atarpaulin),
and keep it in aclosed containerin aplaceoutof reach(of children and pets).
Refertothe following pagesforthe ratesettingsofthe spreader. Thesevaluesareguide values. Alwaysperforma
two-side spread ratecheck beforespreading.Forfurtherinformation refertothe operatormanualcorresponding to
the machine.

2Spread ratesetting
Dependenton the specification ofthe spreader,the spread rateissetviathe on-boardcomputerormanuallyvia
the shutterslide on the machine. Refertothe corresponding operatormanual forthe detailed procedure.
Beforestarting spreading,the spreadratefactorforthe fertiliserconcerned shouldbe entered intothe on-board
computerasafirstapproximation forthe calibration factor.The spread ratefactorcan be taken fromthe setting
chart.
3Checkingthespreadrate
The spread ratecan be checked bymeansofthe included calibration bucketwhen the spreaderisstationary orby
travelling overacertainmeasured distance. Refertotheoperatormanualforthe detailed procedure.
Ifthe fertiliserspreaderisequippedwithaweighing system, the spreadratecan alsobecheckedduring operation.
Refertothe operatormanual ofthe on-boardcomputerforthe detailed procedure.
4Twindisc spreaders
4.1Spreadingdiscs
Withatwindiscspreaderfrom AMAZONE itispossibletospreadvariousworking widthswithonlyonesetof
spreading discs.Refertothe setting chart,theInternetdatabaseorthe recommended adjustmentsforinformation
about whichspreading discisrequired forwhichworking width.
4.2Adjusting theworkingwidth
Lateraldistribution isinfluenced bythe spreading propertiesofthe fertiliserused.The mostimportant
characteristicswhichinfluencethe spreading propertiesaregranulesize,bulkdensity,surfacequalityand
moisture. Dependent on the type offertiliserused the spreading discspermit adjustment ofvariousworking widths.
The spreading vanescan be swivelled around apivot point (Fig. 1)topermit adjustment forthe different working
widths. The adjustmentsareread at position 1or2

Turning the spreading vanesinthe direction of rotation (Fig. 1/A) of the spreading discs(toahighernumerical
scalevalue)willincreasethe working width.
Turning theminthe oppositedirection (Fig. 1/B) willreducethe working width.The shorterspreading vane
distributesthe fertiliserprimarilyinthe centreof the spread pattern, whereasthe longervane coversthe outerarea.

Withoutan on-boardcomputer:refertothe spread ratesetting chartforthe slide position and adjustthe
slidesaccordingly.
5Checkinglateraldistributionwith mobiletestkit(optionalequipment)
Lateraldistribution isinfluenced bythe spreading propertiesofthe fertiliserused.The mostimportant
characteristicswhichinfluencethe spreading propertiesare,asisgenerallyknown,granulesize,bulkdensity,
surfacequalityand moisture.Thesepropertiescan change e.g.due toenvironmentalinfluences.Forthisreason
the valuesstated inthe setting chartareonlyapproximatevalues. Werecommend checking the lateraldistribution
ofthe fertiliserspreaderbymeansofthe mobiletestkit. Refertothe corresponding operatormanualforthe
detailed procedure.

Almostfullfertilisation up tothe fieldedge isachieved,ifyou mayfertilisebeyond the fieldedge,e.g.yourown,
adjacentfieldstobe treated identically(exceptnearsurfacewater).Inthiswayanyunderfertilised edge stripsare
avoided.Do notreducetheslide position inthesecases.You will find the settingsforthe respectivefertilisersin
thissetting chart.

6.2Boundary spreading
Avoidsanyfertiliserspreading beyondthe boundary,e.g.incaseofareasnottobe treatedidentically.An
underfertilised edge stripof 2to6misautomaticallyproduced dependent on the distanceofthe first tramline tothe
boundary (see Fig.4)Reducethe spreadrateon theboundary side bythe stated value.Inthiswayyouwill
achievethe bestlateral distribution possible.You will find the settingsforthe respectivefertilisersinthissetting
chart.

6.3Water course spreading
Incaseofwatercoursespreading itispossibletostillspread withasafetydistance,e.g.nearsurfacewaters.
Consequentlyunderfertilisation ofthe edge stripishigherthan incaseofboundary spreading.Reducetheslide
position (spread rate)on the boundary side bythe stated value.Inthiswayyou will achievethe bestlateral
distribution possible. You willfind the settingsforthe respectivefertilisersinthissetting chart.
