1.) Install in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and the valid standards and regulations.
- Do not operate the level sensor outside of the electrical, thermal and mechanical parameters.
2.) F12: The intrinsically-safe input power circuit of the Levelflex M is isolated from ground potential and has a dielectric strength of at least 500
Vrms with respect to it.
T12-OVP: The intrinsically-safe input circuit of the Levelflex M is isolated from ground potential. The dielectric strength to earth is limited by
600 V electrode arresters.
2.1) Fieldbus PA / FF: For grounding the screen, see figure 2, 4, 5 and 7.
3.) The relationship between the permitted ambient temperature for the electronics housing, dependent on the range of application, and the
temperature classes is shown in the tables Tab. 1a, 1b, 1c and Tab. 3a, 3b.
4.) After aligning (rotating) the housing, retighten the fixing screw (see Operating Instructions).
5.) Use connecting cable for continuous duty temperature > Ta + 5 K
6.a) Install the device to exclude any mechanical damage or friction during the application. Pay particular attention to flow conditions and fittings.
6.b) Special conditions
The probes (rod and rope version) of the level radar Levelflex M type FMP41C-....... have plastic surfaces, which can become electrostatically
charged.
For areas requiring instruments of Zone 0 Zone 1, the electrostatic limits have to be observed.
7.) T12-OVP / With integrated overvoltage protector
The type of protection changes as follows when the transmitter is connected to certified intrinsically-safe circuits of Category ib for Equipment
Groups IIC and IIB: Ex ib IIC T6 and Ex ib IIB T6.
Do not operate the probe in Zone 0 if the transmitter is connected to an intrinsically-safe circuit of Category Ex ib
7.1) The pertinent guidelines must be observed when intrinsically-safe circuits are connected together acc. DIN EN 60079-14 / IEC 60079-14
(Proof of Intrinsic Safety) (e.g. when using the Commubox or DXR275 handheld terminal or other certified apparatus).
7.2) On installations requiring an overvoltage protector to comply with national regulations or standards (e.g. DIN EN 60079-14 / IEC 60079-14),
the devices FMP41C and FMP45 shall be installed using an overvoltage protector (e.g. HAW262Z, HAW562Z from Endress+Hauser).
7.3) Overvoltage protector (e.g. HAW262Z , see figure 3):
- Connect the external overvoltage protector and the measuring device to the local potential matching system.
- The intrinsically-safe circuit is earthed under field conditions, therefore run a potential matching line along the length of the
cable both inside and outside the explosion-hazardous area.
- The cable connecting the overvoltage protector and the measuring device shall be no longer than 1 m,
- Route cable protected (e.g. in an armoured hose).

12.) Do not change any apparatus configuration.
13.) For installing, using and maintaining observe the instruction manual and following standards:
– GB3836.13-1997: "Electrical apparatus for explosive gas atmospheres - Part 13:
Repair and overhaul for apparatus used in explosive gas atmospheres"
– GB3836.15-2000: "Electrical apparatus for explosive gas atmospheres - Part 15:
Electrical installations in hazardous area (other than mines)"
– GB50257-1996: "Code for construction and acceptance of electric device for explosive atmospheres and
fire hazard electrical equipment installation engineering"
8.) In Zone 0, potentially explosive air/vapour mixtures must only occur under atmospheric conditions:
-20 °C < T > +60 °C
0.8 bar < p > 1.1 bar.
If no potentially explosive mixtures are present, the transmitters may be operated under other
atmospheric conditions in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
9.) Only install the devices in media for which the wetted materials have sufficient durability.
10.) Associated apparatus with galvanic isolation between intrinsically-safe and non-intrinsically-safe
circuits are preferred.
11.) With T12-OVP
The integrated overvoltage protector meets the requirements as per IEC / EN 60079-14 Section 12.3.
