Designated use
The CPV valve terminal type CPV−... with direct link type
CPV...−GE−SD−8 documented in this manual is designed ex
clusively for use as a slave on the Smart Distributed System:
 for the control of pneumatic and electric actuators (valves
and relay plates)
Please use the valve terminal only as follows:
asdesignated
infaultless technical condition
 without unauthorized modifications.
The specified maximum values for pressures, temperatures,
electrical data, torques, etc. must be observed when addi
tional commercially−available components such as sensors
and actuators are used.
Please observe the standards specified in the individual
chapters and comply with national and local laws and safety
regulations.
Warning
If to be used as an explosion−protected operating device,
make sure that:
Selectrical contacts are not disconnected under tension
Sthe completely fitted product with all plugs, adapters
and protective caps complies at least with protection
class IP64.

trained in control and automation technology and who have
experience in installing, commissioning and diagnosing pro
grammable logic controllers (PLC) and field bus systems.

Information on this manual
Please note
This manual describes the functions of software version
1.6 and hardware version 06/99 of the CPV valve terminals
with direct link for the Smart Distributed System.
This manual contains specific information on the installation,
commissioning, programming and diagnosis of the CPV valve
terminals with direct link for the Smart Distributed System.
Information on fitting and on the pneumatic modules of the
CPV valve terminal can be found in the "Pneumatics manual,
P.BE−CPV−...".

1.1 General instructions on installation
Warning
Switch off the following power supplies before undertaking
installation or maintenance work:
SThe compressed air supply
SThe operating voltage for the bus interface/internal logic
SThe operating voltage for the CPV valves
You will thereby avoid:
 uncontrolled movements of loose tubing
 undesired movements of the connected actuators
 undefined switching states of the electronic components
Caution
The CPV valve terminal contains electrostatically vulner
able components.
SDo not therefore touch the contacts of the components
SObserve the regulations for handling electrostatically
vulnerable components.
You will thereby prevent damage to the electronic compo
nents.

1.2.1 Setting possibilities
The CPV valve terminal offers two possibilities for setting the
station number and the baud rate. There are two DIL switches
and rotary switches under the switch cover for this purpose.
The following modes are possible:
Sautomatic
Smanual
Automatic mode: baud rate and station number
The station number can be set in automatic mode by means
of the "Handheld Activator" from Honeywell. The baud rate
will be recognized automatically by the CPV valve terminal.
Manual mode: baud rate and station number
In manual mode, the station number can be set with the ro
tary switches on the CPV valve terminal. The baud rate is set
by means of the DIL switches.
Please note
SNo settings need to be undertaken on the CPV valve
terminal for operation in automatic mode (normal
usage).
Certain settings must be made for starting the integrated self
test. These settings will be described in section 3, Diagnosis.

1.2.2 Opening and closing the CPV valve terminal
Opening the switch cover
Unscrew and remove the 4 screws in the switch cover. Lift the
cover upwards.
Closing the switch cover
Replace the cover. Insert and tighten the 4 screws in diag
onally−opposite sequence.
1.2.3 Setting and saving the station number with automatic mode
The station number can be set with the following devices:
 The Handheld Activator for the Honeywell Smart
Distributed System or
Asuitable Smart Distributed System master.
Please note
Do not connect the Handheld activator directly to the CPV
valve terminal.
The power supply of a battery−operated Handheld Activator is
not sufficient for setting the station number of a CPV valve
terminal. Connect the Handheld Activator to an unused posi
tion in the bus system, e.g. to a service tap.
The station number (= SDS−ID) is stored in a non−volatile
memory in the CPV valve terminal. The station number can be
modified at any time. The station number last entered re
mains stored in the CPV valve terminal.

1. Apply 24 V to the CPV valve terminal. Connect the bus
connection of the CPV valve terminal to the bus.
2. Switch on the Activator. Wait until the following menu
appears:
F1 – Select Device
F2 – Data/Function
F3 – Test
F4 – Bus Status
Please note
The bus must be activated in order to synchronize the
Handheld Activator, i.e. data exchange between bus slaves
must be possible.
3. Press key F1  Select Device. The following menu will ap
pear:
Address: NONE
F1 −Select Device
F2 −Change Address
F3 −Options

4. Press key F1  Address: NONE. The following menu will
appear:
−− Select Device −−
Address: NONE
Enter: STAT sSESC
<Digit> ENT
5. Press the STAT key. The Activator will now search for the
station number. When you commission the CPV valve ter
minal the first time, station number 126 will appear, other
wise the station number last saved.
6. You can accept the station number found by pressing the
ENTER key. You can continue the search with sS .
7. Now enter the new station number (ENT).
Please note
SThe CPV valve terminal must be marked with the station
number last saved.
In this way you can be sure that, if the CPV valve terminal
has to be replaced, the station number is known and can
be loaded into the new CPV valve terminal.
