2 Introduction
Thank you for choosing our product. Please read this manual carefully
before use to make best use of all functions of the product and to guarantee
that it has a long service life. Please store the manual in a safe place for
later reference.
This product is a portable digital audio player which allows you to play your
MP3 and WMA tracks (multi-codec player), make voice recordings and
external audio signals or save files of any kind. The modern, self-illuminating
OLED (Organic Light Emitting Display) displays information on the current
digital music file via the ID3 tag.
Caution
Please read the general safety instructions in chapter 6 before
using the MP3 player. Pay particular attention to the instructions
on safely concluding the digital transfer between the MP3 player
and computer in chap. 3.6.

3.2 OLED and symbols
Overview of the OLED
The OLED shows a variety of information on the current track, the running
time and the system settings. The symbols are explained below.
3.3 Battery status and charging
The battery status of the battery is displayed by five different symbols:

3.4 Installing the driver
When using Windows 98SE, you must first install the correspond-
ding driver found on the CD-ROM before connecting the MP3
player to your computer.
•Connect the MP3 player to your PC using the USB cable.
•USB RDY appears in the LCD display and the driver
installation starts. When using Windows ME, 2000 and
XP, the PC recognizes a new hardware device (mass
storage device) and automatically installs the
corresponding driver.
•If an error occurs during installation, remove the USB cable, restart the
operating system and reconnect the USB cable to the PC.
3.5 Transferring files MP3 player - PC
•Connect the MP3 player to your PC using the supplied USB cable.
•Open the Windows Explorer or double-click My Computer.
•Open your music folder, select the folder or files to be
transferred and drag them to the removable storage
medium symbol of the MP3 player (download).
•“RUNNING” appears on the display.
•Once the transmission is complete, click the MP3 player symbol and
check whether the files were completely copied.
•Following the same procedure, you can also copy files from the MP3 player
to the PC (upload).

The MP3 player plays the transferred MP3 or WMA files in
alphabetical order according to their file names. To change the
playback order, change the file names accordingly. You can also
use your MP3 player to transport all types of files.
Never disconnect the USB cable from your MP3 player during a
data transfer.
3.6 DRM Protected Files
What is a DRM file?
DRM stands for “Digital Rights Management”. WMA files that are legally
downloaded from the internet are generally protected by DRM. These files
contain a license that directs how the file may be used. All licenses are
controlled by the Windows Media®Player (version 9.0 and higher). In order
to play DRM protected files, the Windows Media®Player must be used.
Which Windows Media® Player Version is installed on my computer?
Open the Windows Media® Player installed on your computer, click the
question mark located on the menu bar and select “INFO”. The Windows
Media® Player version will appear in the next window. Windows Media®
Player is free and can be downloaded from the internet. We recommend
using Windows Media®Player Version 10.0.
Using DRM Protected Files
Open the Windows Media®Player and click on the synchronization button.
Browse through your computer and select a DRM protected file. Use your
mouse to move the file, per drag and drop, to the left area of the Windows

Media®Player window, the file should appear. If the MP3 Player is already
connected to the PC, you may select the track you would like to play. If not,
connect the MP3 Player at this time and press the F5 key. Click “START
SYNCHRONIZATION” to start transferring the files.
Note: To view the license information, right click the selected file and click
on “PROPERTIES”.
Copying a Audio CD
Select “COPY” from the Windows Media® Player menu. All tracks must me
copied to the PC when using the Windows Media® Player. The tracks
should appear in the lower portion of the selected directory and can be
copied to the MP3 Player.

3.7 Disable the MP3 Player from the PC
•Disable the digital MP3 player from the operating system correctly using
the “Remove Hardware Safely” option .
•Click the task bar on the right-hand side below the symbol and select
the “Remove USB Mass Storage Device – Drive (X:)” in the following
dialog window.
•Then the message now appears that the hardware can be removed. Leave
the USB cable plugged into the MP3 player to charge the internal battery
or remove it.
When using Windows 98SE, does not appear in the task bar.
Once the data has been completely transferred, simply remove
the USB cable.

4 Operation
4.1 Switching the MP3 player on and off
Switching the MP3 player on
•Ensure that the hold setting is deactivated. If necessary, push the hold
switch into the off position.
•Hold the switch for on down for approx. one second until
the Display illuminates and a greeting is displayed. The
MP3 player is now in standby mode.
•If the MP3 player is not switched on, check the polarity of the batteries
and ensure that they are charged.
Switching the MP3 player off
Press and hold the off button for approximately three
seconds until Good Bye appears and the Display illumination
deactivates.
4.2 Music Mode
Playback, forwards/back, pause, stop
•Press the playback button to play the track
showed. The track information (ID3 tag) is
scrolled on the Display.
•Press and hold the forwards or back
button during playback to skip forwards or
back within the track. If you tilt the button
briefly forwards or back , playback skips to the next or the previous
track.
•Press the playback button briefly to pause playback.

Setting the volume
Press or hold the respective volume control button (+, -) to raise or lower the
volume. The volume has 33 settings (0…32).
Hold switch
You can block all buttons of your MP3 player to prevent accidental
operation. To do so, simply move the key lock switch in the direction as
shown by the arrow. During operation, Key locked! is shown in the OLED
display. Unlock the keys by moving the switch back.
Searching for files (browser)
•While in pause mode, press the menu
button for approximately 3 seconds. Use
to navigate through the folder
structure and search for the desired file.
•Press the playback button (PLAY) to open
the folder.
•Press PLAY twice to select and play the
desired music file.
Equalizer settings
•While in music playback or pause mode,
briefly press the menu button and use
to select the equalizer mode (EQ).
•Briefly press PLAY to activate the EQ
mode.
•Use to select the desired sound
(normal, classic, live, pop, rock and DBB).
•Confirm using the playback button (PLAY) again.

Repeat mode
•While in music playback or pause mode,
briefly press the menu button and use
to select the Repeat mode (Repeat).
•Briefly press PLAY to activate the Repeat
mode.
•Use to select the desired mode (Normal, Repeat one, Repeat folder,
Repeat all, Repeat random).
•Confirm using the playback button (PLAY) again.
Repeat One: Plays back the current file repeatedly.
Repeat Folder: Repeatedly plays back all files of the current folder in the
original order.
Repeat All: Repeatedly plays back all files in the original order.
Random: Plays back the files of the current folder in a random order.
Deleting files
•While in pause mode, briefly press the
menu button and use to select the
function „File delete“.
•Briefly press PLAY to open the folder
structure.
•Use to select the file to be deleted.
•Press PLAY. Delete? appears in the display and must be confirmed by
pressing PLAY again.
You can also delete files or folders using your computer’s file
manager when the MP3 player is connected to the PC via the
USB connection.

4.3 Voice recording mode
Your MP3 player can also be used as a digital dictaphone. This allows you
to record important ideas or thoughts when away from home, so you don’t
forget them.
•While in pause mode, briefly press the menu
button and use to select the Voice
recording mode.
•Briefly press PLAY to start voice recording.
•Press PLAY again to stop voice recording.
The recorded voice files are stored in the MIC_REC folder. The
sound is recorded as a WAV file (34 kbps).
4.4 Voice playback mode
•While in pause mode, briefly press the
menu button and use to select the
voice playback mode.
•Briefly press PLAY to activate the voice
playback.
•Use to select the required file.
•Press PLAY again to play back the
selected file.

If you would like to return to music mode,
briefly press the menu button and use to
select Music player mode.
4.5 Recording external audio sources
Using the provided audio signal cable (Line in), you can directly record audio
signals of external audio sources with your MP3 player. Connect the Line out
connection of the external audio source (CD player, stereo system, etc.) to
the Line in connection of your MP3 player.
•While in pause mode, briefly press the menu
button and use to select the mode
LineIn Record.
•Briefly press PLAY to start recording.
•Press PLAY again to stop recording.
The recorded files are stored in MP3 format in the LINE_REC
folder. You can specify the bit rate to the following values under
Settings/Bit rate: 32 kbps, 64 kbps, 96 kbps, 112 kbps, 128 kbps
and 196 kbps.

4.6 System settings (setting)
The mode setting allows you to change important system settings for your
MP3 player. It contains a total of 8 options
Recurring operating steps:
•While in pause mode, briefly press the menu button and use and PLAY
to select the mode setting.
•Use to select the desired option (Language, Lyric Display, OLED
Contrast, Back Light, Bitrate, Format Memory, Memory Info und S/W
Version).
•Confirm using the playback button (PLAY) again.
Language
Use this option to select the required language: English, Chinese GB,
Chinese BIG5, Korean, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Spanish.
(Lyric Display)
When playing MP3 files, your MP3 player supports the synchronous lyric
display. Install the provided lyric software and refer to the online help on how
to create MP3 files with lyrics. Switch the lyric function on or off in your MP3
player (Lyric On/Lyric Off).
LCD Contrast
Allows you to set the required display contrast: Level Low, Level 1, Level 2,
Level 3, Level 4, Level High.
Automatic shutdown of the display (Back Light)
This allows you to set whether the backlight is to remain on after a button is
pressed and how long it stays on: 5 s, 10 s, 15 s, 20 s, 25 s and 30 s.
Bit rate
Adjust the desired bit rate for the Line in recording: 32 kbps, 64 kbps,
96 kbps, 112 kbps, 128 kbps and 196 kbps.

Formatting the memory
Use this function (select Yes) to format the internal flash memory of the MP3
player. Keep in mind that in doing so all files and folders are permanently
deleted.
Memory Info
Shows the current amount of free memory space on your MP3 player.
Firmware Version (S/W Version)
Check the firmware version installed on your MP3 player when firmware
updates are made available.

6 Safety instructions
Although this product is safe, please observe the following information and
warnings.
•Never expose the device to rain, moisture or humidity.
Malfunctions, damage and electric shocks can occur as a
result.
•Never press two buttons simultaneously and handle the OLED
display carefully.
•Do not expose the device to direct sunlight. This may cause
malfunctions.
•Do not shake the device or subject it to hard knocks. The
device may be damaged if it falls. Do not place any heavy
objects on top of the device.
•Do not carry the MP3 player with other metal objects (coins or
keys) in your pocket.
•Clean the device only using a soft, dry cloth.
•When cleaning the device, do not use any volatile substances,
such as solvents, to avoid damaging the surface.
•Do not open the casing of the device under any
circumstances, and do not attempt to repair or modify the
device.
