1 Overview
The HKM3 heating circuit extension module enables
the control of an additional heating circuit. A simple
VBus®connection is enough to add a complete weather-
compensated heating circuit to the controller.
The HKM3 is equipped with 6 sensor inputs, one of
which can be used for the optional RTA11-M remote
control. Four semiconductor relays are available for
controlling the mixing valve and the heating circuit
pump.Additionally, a potential-free relay takes care of
afterheating demand.
In combination with the controller connected, the
HKM3 not only controls the basic functions of the
heating circuit and the DHW priority, it also has an
antifreeze function and a blocking protection for the
heating circuit pump.

2.4 Application example 3 Commissioning, operation and
adjustment
ÎEstablish the power supply
The HKM3 runs an initialisation phase during which
the operating control lamp flashes. Afterwards, the
module begins normal operation and indicates the
measured values of the sensors connected.
If the power supply is established but the module is
not yet connected to and registered in the controller,
the HKM3 works like a display unit without control
function.
ÎConnect the HKM3 to the controller via the
VBus®.
ÎRegister the HC module in the options menu of
the controller.
All adjustment and display values are listed in the cor-
responding (HC-Module) menu of the controller.
If more than 1 HKM3 is connected to one controller,
each HKM3 must be assigned with a sub-address. To
do so, proceed as follows in the HKM3 menu:
Select the menu channel SA by pressing buttons 1 and 2.
ÎPress button Set, the symbol flashes
ÎAssign a sub-address to the HKM3 (e. g. 2for the
second, 3for the third HKM3 connected)
Note:
The HKM3 must be registered in the con-
troller connected!
ÎAll adjustments for the HKM3 must be
made in the corresponding menu of the
controller connected!
ÎConsult the controller manual in order
to use all functions of the HKM3!
3.1 Flashing codes of the control lamp
Green: Everything OK
Red/green flashing: Initialisation, manual mode
Red flashing: Error
The relays of the HKM3 can be manually switched on
(I), switched off (0) or put into automatic mode by
means of the slide switch. When the slide switch is
set to I, the states of the relays can be determined in
the channel MM.
• Manually OFF = 0 (left)
• Manually ON = I (right)
• Automatic mode = Auto (centre)
In the parameter MM, different relay states can be
adjusted:
0 = R1 on
1 = R1 on, R2 on
2 = R1 on, R5 on
3 = R1 on, R2 on, R5 on
M1 ... M5
By means of the parameters M1 ...M5, the states of the
individual relays can be adjusted in automatic mode
(slide switch set to Auto). The adjustments made in
M1 ... M5 are overridden by the parameter MM when
the slide switch is set to I.

and registered in the controller. The HKM3 then
works like a display unit without control function.
The following adjustments are available:
0 = Resistance (the resistance measured is displayed
regardless of the sensor type)
1 = Pt1000
2 = KTY
3 = Pt500
4 = RTA11-M (remote control)
As soon as a connection between the HKM3 and a
controller has been established,the adjustments made
for the sensor types in T1 ...T6 are overwritten. Each
HKM3 connected then has the sub-address 1 and the
sensor input adjustments listed in the following table.
Afterwards, a sub-addresses has to be assigned to
each individual HKM3 (again, if done before).

T3 1 (Pt1000)
T4 1 (Pt1000)
T5 4 (RTA11-M)
T6 1 (Pt1000)
The HKM3 display indicates the measured values of
the sensor input to which a sensor is connected.The
values are indicated regardless of whether the con-
troller connected requires them for heating circuit
control.
Note
If the mains connection is established but the
module is not yet connected to and regis-
tered in the controller, the following addi-
tional adjustment channel appears:
