1. Correct use
The rivet setting tool is designed exclusively for setting speed rivets as described in the
operating instructions.
2. Safety instructions
• The rivet setting tool should only be used for setting speed rivets.
• Do not overload the tool; work within the prescribed work capacity.
• Do not use the tool outside of riveting holes. The speed rivet could be ejected from the tool!
Never turn the tool towards yourself or towards other people.
• Protective tube and protective cover should always be tted when operating the setting
tool.
• Do not use the rivet setting tool as a hammer.
• Check compressed air connections regularly to ensure they are well-tted and airtight.
• When carrying out maintenance work on the rivet setting tool and when the tool is not in
use, it should always be disconnected from the compressed air network.
• When working with the tool, always wear protective goggles. Personal protection like
clothes, gloves, safety helmet, non-slip shoes, ear protection and anti-fall protection are
highly recommended.
• Do not exceed the permitted working pressure.
• When depositing the rivet setting tool, make sure that it cannot fall.
• Repair work must be carried out by skilled personnel. In case of doubt, always send the
complete rivet setting tool back to the supplier or to GESIPA®.
• Dispose of the used hydraulic oil in accordance with valid environmental protection regu-
lations.

• Standard spreader nosepieces are suitable for all types of applications with easily
accessible riveting points.
• Standard pointed spreader nosepieces are used for at head rivets.
• Extended and extended curved spreader nosepieces have the same shaped heads
as standard spreader nosepieces and are suitable for applications with riveting points
that are difcult to access.

6.3 Mandrel spring
• The standard mandrel spring is suitable for use with a standard or standard pointed
spreader nosepiece for versions with or without opening mechanism.
• The extended mandrel spring is suitable for use with an extended or extended curved
spreader nosepiece for versions with or without opening mechanism.

7. Starting procedure
Before starting the device, read and observe the operating instructions and safety instructions (!)
and keep them in a safe place. Have the compressed air network connected to the rivet setting
tool according to specications by skilled personnel.
Caution!
The mandrel spring and the spreader nosepiece should always be selected and used in
accordance with the size of speed rivet to be processed.

7.1 Mounting direction of the non-return device
The rivet setting tool is supplied with the non-return device already mounted in the guide tube
Caution!
Before starting the device, the following points should always be observed:
• The black button must be activated (jaws open) in order to avoid damages when starting
the device.
• The non-return device must be positioned in the correct direction with regard to the spreader
nosepiece. Failure to observe these instructions will result in failure to accomplish the set-
ting of speed rivets.

7.3 How to attach the mandrel spring
Thread the mandrel spring onto the mandrel of the speed rivet.
Caution!
When threading the mandrel spring, make sure the mounting direction is according to
specications.

7.4 How to set a speed rivet
• Connect the rivet setting tool to the compressed air network.
• The black button must be activated in order to insert the speed rivet into the rivet setting
tool.
7.4.1 Spreader nosepiece without opening mechanism
• Insert the speed rivet with mandrel spring into the spreader nosepiece until the mandrel
spring is attached to the spreader nosepiece.
• Push the front sections of the spreader nosepiece forwards against the spring force.
• Push the previously inserted speed rivet out in order to open the spreader nosepiece.

• Activate the white valve in order to ensure the rivet setting tool is ready for operation.
• Use the rivet setting tool to insert the speed rivet into the riveting hole as far as the buffer.
• Activate the trigger until the setting process is complete.
• Remove the rivet setting tool from the riveting point.
• Release the trigger.
• Wait until the next speed rivet has been reloaded.
• Insert speed rivet with mandrel spring into the spreader nosepiece.
• With the spreader nosepiece open, insert the speed rivet with mandrel spring
so that only one speed rivet protrudes.
• Turn the knurled ring to the right or left again to close the spreader nosepiece.
7.4.3 Spreader nosepiece with/without opening mechanism
• With the spreader nosepiece closed, the speed rivet must protrude by a dened distance

7.5 How to reload the rivet setting tool
• Activate the black button to release the empty mandrel.
• Remove the empty mandrel with mandrel spring from the rivet setting tool.
• To reload the rivet setting tool, follow the instructions in point 7.4.
8. Maintenance and care
The complete jaw mechanism must be maintained regularly.
8.1 Cleaning/changing jaws
• Disconnect the setting tool from the compressed air network.
• Remove the protective cover.
• Release the cover completely by unscrewing the two screws using allen key SW3.
• Remove the jaw guide complete with jaws from the housing.
• Remove the jaws.
• Clean and grease the entire jaw guide and sliding surfaces of the pressure sleeve.
• Cleaning the jaws: Clean old jaws and replace them in the jaw guide (held in position by
grease).
• Changing the jaws: Insert new jaws into the jaw guide (held in position by grease).
• Assemble in reverse order ensuring that all parts are xed tight.

8.2 Relling hydraulic oil
• Disconnect the setting tool from the compressed air network.
• Unscrew oil rell screw using Torx screwdriver T20 and at the same time remove the
seal.
• Insert the supplied oil press into the oil rell container.
Caution!
Push the oil press in as far as the buffer, otherwise the oil will be discharged
without any control.
• Unscrew supplied oil rell container.
• Connect the rivet setting tool to the compressed air network and activate the trigger; then
disconnect the rivet setting tool from the compressed air network.
• Unscrew the oil rell container with oil press and remove the old oil from the oil rell
container.
• Screw up the oil rell container tight by hand and ll up to the mark with hydraulic oil.
• Insert the oil press into the oil rell container and push in until it can‘t go any further or
there is no more oil in the oil rell container.
• Connect the riveting tool to the compressed air supply.
• The riveting tool vents automatically and excess oil is transferred back into the oil rell
container.
• Unscrew the oil rell container with oil press. Remove any remaining oil from the rivet
setting tool.
• Insert the seal and screw in tight the oil rell screw using Torx screwdriver T20.
Regular maintenance will extend the service life of your high-quality GESIPA®tools and
they should be serviced at least every 2 years by an authorised workshop or by GESIPA®
Service. For tools that are used intensively, we recommend servicing ahead of schedule.
8.3 Storage
The setting tool should be stored in a dry place where there is no danger of frost.

10. Troubleshooting
10.1 Speed rivet cannot be set

Wrong spreader nosepiece Attach correct spreader nosepiece (point
6.1, 6.2)
Wrong mandrel spring Attach correct mandrel spring (point 6.3)
9. Repairs
Repairs under warranty are carried out by the manufacturer. Repairs outside the warranty
period should only be carried out by skilled personnel. Failure to observe the assembly and
setting procedures and operation by non-skilled personnel may result in serious damage to
the setting tool. In case of doubt, always send the rivet setting tool back to the supplier or to
GESIPA®.
