INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on choosing the Neopost IJ-140 franking ma-
chine. The IJ-140 is the result of the expertise and innovative
capabilities of a worldwide Neopost group and, using ink jet
technology,itwillintegrateitselfintoyourworkingenvironmentto
enhanceyourmailprocessingoperation.
The IJ-140 has many capabilities that will be important to your
business:
As well as being productive (up to 250 letters per minute for
machine only), the IJ-140 is designed to be a user friendly
machinethatcanfitintoanyworkingenvironmentwithitsinnovative
and attractive design, simple user settings and very low noise
level.
TheIJ-140isconnectable.ItcanexchangedatawithNeopost
scales and printers in order to provide optimal mail processing
andreporting.
Finally, the IJ-140 is a unique communication tool for your
company. Its high quality printing combined with its integrated
library of advertisement messages, mail class dies and free
formattextwillaffordyouextratoolstoenhanceyourcompany’s
imageandtheimpactofyourmail.

WARNING!
Do not remove any secured covers or attempt to repair the IJ-140,
therearenouserserviceablepartscontained andthe IJ-140product
islicensedforuseundertheconditionsofthePostOffice.Thislicense
isissuedsubjecttotheproductbeingsecureatalltimes.Anyremoval
ofcoversordis-assemblyoftheproductwillresultinthelicensebeing
revoked and may result in the Post Office requesting Neopost to
remove the product from use.
The inking system used within the IJ-140 contains Post Office
approved ink. This cartridge should not be tampered with in any way
or the use of non approved inks be attempted. This will breach any
Post Office licence agreement on the product and may result in the
Post Office requesting Neopost to remove the product from use.

STANDARD
In order to comply with standard NFEN60950, this equipment
should be connected to installations in accordance with the
applicablebuildingtradestandards.Asregardsovercurrentpro-
tection of the internal wiring, a two-pole 5 amp protection is
required.Thisequipmentisinaccordancewithstandard 55022,
Class A.
MODEM APPROVAL REQUIREMENTS
Thisequipmentcontainsamodemwhichhasbeenapprovedin
accordance with Council Decision 98/482/EC-CTR21 for pan-
European single terminal connection to the Public Switched
TelephoneNetwork(PSTN).However,duetodifferencesbetween
individual PSTNs provided in different countries, the approval
doesnot,ofitself,giveanunconditionalassuranceofsuccessful
operationoneveryPSTNnetworkterminationpoint.
In the event of problems, you should contact your equipment
supplierinthefirstinstance.
INSTALLATION
The mains plug on this equipment is intended to serve as the
deviceforisolationofthemainssupply.Theequipmentshouldbe
installedincloseproximitytoeasilyaccessiblepowersupplyand
telephonesockets.

The postal mark comprises: the postage amount plus the

1.2.1 Preparation of the franking machine
The franking machine should be installed on a flat horizontal
surface.
Allowsufficientfreespaceasfollows:
-abovethemachinetoenabletheopeningofthecovers,
-attherearforthemachinecooling.
WiththeO/Iswitchinthe“O”(OFF)position,connectthepower
cordtotherearofthemachineandtoanelectricaloutlet.
Connectthetelephonelinkcabletothemodemsocketattherear
ofthe machine toa telephoneconnector, for Serverrecrediting
systemconnection.
Forsecuritypurposes,pleaseensurethatalltheitemsare
correctly assembled prior to switching on the configura-
tion.
