Tools/hardware required:
#3 Phillips screwdriver
Hardware kit: 1/4-20 X 1.75" Phillips truss head screw
Attaching back panel
Note: Back panels are shipped separate from seat unit. Back panels for modular units can be
upholstered, or upholstered with colonnades. Back panels for Obeya Gathr units will be upholstered
only (Figure A)
Note: The back panel must be attached before connecting the seats to one another.
1. Lay the back on floor, or non-marring surface
2. The back panel has four insert nuts. Align them with the clearance holes on the seat frame.
(Figure B)
3. Fasten together using the 1/4"-20 x 1.75" screws.

Level (minimum 3' recommended)

Connecting ganging seats
Note: If using a back panel (with or without colonnades), you must attach the back before
connecting the seats to one another. Refer to Attaching Back Panels section
1. Slide the seats together and level them with one another. (Figure A)
2. Next make sure that they are flush with one another in the front, back, and all edges. Use
squeeze clamps to hold in place and verify that all edges line up.
3. Access the six pre drilled holes from the cutouts provided in the end panels. Use the HK-15 #8
x1.5 screws and attach the seats together. (Figure B)

Attaching end panels
1. Line up the four button connectors on the removable panel with the button fix on the seat end
panel. Push in and then slide the panel downward. (Figure A)

Note: Bolt seats together using instructions in Attaching Ganging Seats on page 3.
1. First assemble each half round and straight section as shown below. (Figure A)
Note: Some island set ups may not use straight modules, and will only consist of the outside
wedge modules.
2. If using straight modules, attach the straights to one of the end wedge assemblies. (Figure B)
3. Slide the last end assembly over and attach. Add the planter support spacers to the notched out
ends on the back of units. Attach with hardware kit HK-15. (Figure C)

4. Finish by dropping in the planter platform on top of the spacer supports inside of the unit. The
platform will rest on the support spacers. (Figure D)
5. Finish by adding the top panel, and inserting planter pots if specified. (Figure E)

Note: Instructions are for attaching either upholstered panel or framed panel. Framed panel is shown
in instructions
1. Slide the bottom two bolts through the pre drilled holes in the seat frame. (Figure A)
2. Line up the frame and slide onto the bolts. (Figure B)

3. Next slide the planter box against the frame and line up the bottom bolts with the insert nut.
Tighten down. (Figure C)
4. Now move to the top bolts inside the planter box and tighten down to the seat frame.
(Figure D)
Note: If ganging other units together, move on to step 5.

Note: HK-248 hardware kit is used to connect units with frame, HK-251 hardware kit is used to
connect units that have an upholstered panel
5. To attach frames together, use HK-248 hardware kit and pre-drilled holes in frame to bolt frames
together (Figure A). Note: Upholstered panels will not bolt together
6. Use the planter cutout to access the pre-drilled holes for attached planter boxes together. Use
provided hardware HK-248/HK-251 and use the pre-drilled holes to bolt units together.
(Figure B)
Once seats, panel, and planter are attached to each other to make a complete single unit, you can
move forward ganging the units together. Note: Bolt seats together using instructions in Attaching
Ganging Seats on page 3.

Gathr Obeya corner assembly
1. Place your corner top face down on a non-marring surface and position the base to be flush on
the back corner edges of the top. (Figure A)
2. Attach base to underside of corner top with four L brackets (two on each side) and 5/8" pan
head screws. (Figure B)

3. If an upholstered back panel is not specified, go to step 4. If using back panel, place three L
brackets vertically along the applicable end panel of the base. (Figure C). Repeat for remaining
end panel if necessary.
4. Flip the assembly right side up and place in the correct corner of Obeya unit (Figure D)

5. Now level the base and adjust the height for the Gathr seating to slide under the top.
6. If an upholstered back panel was specified, attach the back panel to the corner base with the
installed L-brackets from step 3, using 5/8 pan head screws. (Figure E)

7. Align the first seating module with the corner top.
7. Locate the pre-drilled holes in the case spacer for attaching the top panel. Attach using HK-15
hardware.
8. Place the next seating module and gang together using instructions in Attaching Ganging Seats
on page 3. Then attach to corner top using the previous step.
9. Repeat steps 1-9 for remaining seats.

11. If a back panel was specified, attach of the back panel to the end of the corner seat with three
L-brackets and 5/8 pan head screws from HK-10 Hardware. (Figure G)
12. If the corner unit is to be freestanding, add four of the button fix using the pre drilled holes for
attaching the decorative end panel. (Figure H)
13. If adding additional corner modules, repeat steps 1-12 in Obeya Gathr section. If adding a
straight module, continue on to step 14.

14. If a back panel is specified, attach the back panel to the back of the straight unit with three
L-brackets and 5/8 pan head screws from HK-10 Hardware. (Shown in step 11, Figure G) Note:
The top panel will come preinstalled on the straight units. (Figure J)
15. If the straight unit is connecting to a corner unit or another straight unit, see Connecting
Ganging Seats page
16. If the straight unit is to be freestanding, add four of the button fix using the pre-drilled holes for
attaching the decorative end panel. See Attaching End Panels on page 3.
