Replacement Part Guide – LAN Adapter & LAN Cable

The LAN adapter and LAN cable provide communication between the IM | IS-280 iMeter and the online
server using a high speed internet or LAN (Local Area Network) connection. The following steps will guide
you through the removal of the LAN adapter and LAN cable and the installation of the replacement parts.

Replacing The LAN Adapter & LAN Cable
1. Ensure the machine is in
sleep mode. The power
indicator light will be
amber.
5. Remove the new LAN adapter, LAN cable, and
shipping label from the shipping package.
2. Disconnect the power
cable from the wall
outlet. This will turn off
the IM | IS-280 iMeter™
postage meter.
6. Place the old LAN adapter and LAN cable into
the same shipping package. Seal the package
with packing tape (not provided). Apply the
prepaid label to the package over the old
shipping label.
3. Disconnect the old LAN
cable from the LAN wall
outlet or router.
7. Connect the USB
cable on the new LAN
adapter to the USB
port of the IM | IS-280
iMeter™ postage
meter.
4. Disconnect the USB
cable on the old LAN
adapter from the IM | IS-
280 iMeter™ postage
meter.
8. Connect one end of
the LAN cable to the
open port on the new
LAN adapter.

9. Connect the other
end of the new LAN
cable to the wall
outlet or router.
10. Connect the power
cable to the wall
outlet. This will
turn on the IM | IS-
280 iMeter™
postage meter.
Testing The New LAN Adapter By Connecting To The Online Server
1. Press the Sleep/Wake
button. The power
indicator light will
become green.
6. The machine is
preparing for the
generic call.
Do not interrupt
this process.
2. From the
Homescreen, press
the “MENU” button.
7. The machine is
connecting to the
server.
3. Press the down arrow
button until “Online
Services” is
highlighted.
8. The transaction is
in progress.
4. Once “Online
Services” is
highlighted, press the
“OK” button.
9. The generic call
finished
successfully.
Press the “OK”
button to return to
the Homescreen.
5. Press the down arrow
button to highlight
“Generic Call”.
Press the “OK”
button.
If you fail to return the old LAN adapter and LAN
cable within ten business days, you will be charged
the full replacement value of the LAN adapter and
LAN cable.
