Introduction
This document can be used as a reference guide for step-by-
step testing of CPRI optical service. Always refer to your latest
Methods & Procedures (M&P) for specic guidelines.
The following steps will be described:
Connect and congure the test set
Verify optical power
Verify end to end BER
Perform Round Trip Delay measurement
Save test results

To access the test ports, remove the
protective cover. Note: SFP must be MSA
compliant and support rates up to 4G. For
CPRI rate of 9.8G use XFP port.

CPRI Testing
The Home menu can be accessed at anytime during operation
by pressing the Home key on the rubber keypad. The screen is
divided into three presentation areas:
Left
Middle
Right
TX300 Screen
LEDs: Displays soft LEDs associated with Errors
and Alarms
Tools: IP connection status, Advanced IP features
(Net Wiz, WiFi Wiz, VoIP, and IPTV applications),
Fiber Scope, ReVeal EZ Connect
Utilities: Applications (Help, Settings, Files) which
are common to all VePAL handheld test sets
Test Applications specic to the test set: BERT
Test Mode: Select the Test Application
LASER On/Off: Enables/Disables the Laser
transmitter on optical ports (SFP or XFP)
Function Keys: Application specic function keys:
Start/Stop, Round trip delay measurement, error
injection




CPRI Testing
You can easily switch between testing modes by tapping on the
button on the bottom right corner of the Home menu.
When the Test Mode Selection window appears, select CPRI
Testing and press YES to validate. The selected test mode is
applied in approximately 40 seconds.

Note:
−If the test set does not directly boot up in the CPRI Testing
mode, you can access it from the Test Mode selection
window.
−It will take 40 seconds to apply the new test mode.
−If the test boots up in the CPRI Testing mode, there is no
need to change the test mode.
−If a unit is powered down in the CPRI Testing mode, the
next time it is used, it will boot up directly in CPRI Testing
mode.

Press the Setup tab to access the BERT conguration elds.
Select the test pattern. Note: Use the test pattern recommended
in the M&P. Tap to validate choice and close window.

Select CPRI rate that matches the circuit under test

Press the button to start the BERT. You will be
automatically taken to the Results Summary screen.
Results Summary: Verify that no errors are present. If errors
are present, press the button.
Start the Test and Results Step 1
Scroll through the tabs to access the results screens.

measurements.
